⁴⁴ And You shall deliver me from the striving of the peoples, You shall keep me to be the head of the Gentiles:; a people which I knew not served me.

¹³ The Lord your God shall make you the head, and not the tail; and you shall then be above and you shall not be below, if you will hearken to the voice of the Lord your God, in all things that I command you this day to observe.

¹ And there was war for a long time between the house of Saul and the house of David; and the house of David grew continually stronger; but the house of Saul grew continually weaker.

¹ And all the tribes of Israel came to David to Hebron, and they said to him, Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.

¹ And it came to pass after this, that David attacked the Philistines, and put them to flight, and David took the tribute from out of the hand of the Philistines. ² Then David attacked Moab, and measured them out with lines, having laid them down on the ground. And there were two lines for slaying, and two lines he kept alive. And Moab became servants to David, yielding tribute. ³ Then David attacked Hadadezer the son of Rehob king of Zobah, as he went to extend his power to the River Euphrates. ⁴ And David took a thousand of his chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David hamstrung all his chariot horses, but he reserved for himself a hundred chariots. ⁵ And Syria of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, and David struck down twenty-two thousand of the Syrians. ⁶ And David placed a garrison in Syria near Damascus, and the Syrians became servants and tributaries to David. And the Lord preserved David wherever he went. ⁷ And David took the golden bracelets which were on the servants of Hadadezer king of Zobah, and brought them to Jerusalem. And Susakim king of Egypt took them, when he went up to Jerusalem in the days of Rehoboam son of Solomon. ⁸ And King David took from Metebac, and from the choice cities of Hadadezer, very much brass; with that Solomon made the bronze sea, and the pillars, and the lavers, and all the furniture. ⁹ And Toi the king of Hemath heard that David had defeated all the armies of Hadadezer. ¹⁰ And Toi sent Joram his son to King David, to ask him of his welfare, and to congratulate him on his fighting against Hadadezer and smiting him, for he was an enemy to Hadadezer: and in his hands were vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass. ¹¹ And these King David consecrated to the Lord, with the silver and with the gold which he consecrated out of all the cities which he conquered, ¹² out of Edom and out of Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amelek, and from the spoils of Hadadezer son of Rehob king of Zobah. ¹³ And David made himself a name. And when he returned he struck Edom in Gebelem to the number of eighteen thousand. ¹⁴ And he set garrisons in Edom, even in all Edom: and all the Edomites were servants to the king. And the Lord preserved David wherever he went.

⁶ And all the people went out into the woods against Israel; and the battle was in the woods of Ephraim. ⁷ And the people of Israel fell down there before the servants of David, and there was a great slaughter in that day, even twenty thousand men. ⁸ And the battle there was scattered over the face of all the land. And the woods consumed more of the people than the sword consumed in that day.

⁹ And all the people disputed among all the tribes of Israel, saying, King David delivered us from all our enemies, and he rescued us from the hand of the Philistines; and now he has fled from the land, and from his kingdom, and from Absalom.

¹⁴ And he bowed the heart of all the men of Judah as that of one man; and they sent to the king, saying, Return, you and all your servants.

¹ And there was a transgressor there, and his name was Sheba, a Benjamite, the son of Bichri: and he blew the trumpet, and said, We have no portion in David, neither have we any inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel! ² And all the men of Israel went up from following David after Sheba the son of Bichri; but the men of Judah adhered to their king, from Jordan even to Jerusalem.

²² And the woman went in to all the people, and she spoke to all the city in her wisdom; and they took off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri; and took it away and threw it to Joab. And he blew the trumpet, and the people separated from the city away from him, every man to his tent. And Joab returned to Jerusalem to the king.

¹ Why did the heathen rage, and the nations imagine vain things? ² The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers gathered themselves together, against the Lord, and against His Christ; ³ saying, Let us break through Their bonds, and cast away Their yoke from us. ⁴ He that dwells in the heavens shall laugh them to scorn, and the Lord shall mock them. ⁵ Then shall He speak to them in His anger, and trouble them in His fury. ⁶ But I have been made King by Him on Zion His holy mountain,

⁸ Ask of Me, and I shall give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession.

⁴³ Deliver me from the gain sayings of the people; You shall make me head of the Gentiles: a people whom I knew not served me,

⁸ Judah is My king; Moab is the caldron of My hope; over Edom will I stretch out My shoe; the Philistines have been subjected to Me. ⁹ Who will lead me into the fortified city? Who will guide me as far as Edom?

⁸ And He shall have dominion from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth. ⁹ The Ethiopians shall fall down before Him, and His enemies shall lick the dust.

⁶ He shall judge among the nations, He shall fill up the number of corpses, He shall crush the heads of many on the earth.

⁵ Nations which know you not shall call upon you, and peoples which are not acquainted with you shall flee to you for refuge, for the sake of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel; for He has glorified you.

¹² For the nations and the kings which will not serve you shall perish; and those nations shall be made utterly desolate.

¹ I became manifest to them that asked not for Me; I was found by them that sought Me not; I said, Behold, I am here, to a nation who called not on My name.

¹⁴ And to Him was given the dominion, and the honor, and the kingdom; and all nations, tribes, and languages, shall serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom shall not be destroyed.

²³ And I will sow her to Me on the earth; and will love her that was not loved, and will say to that which was not My people, You are My people; and they shall say, You are the Lord my God.

²⁵ who by the mouth of Your servant David have said: 'Why did the nations rage, and the people conspired vain things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth took their stand, and the rulers were assembled together against the LORD and against His Christ.' ²⁷ "For truly they were assembled against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, ²⁸ to do all that Your hand and Your counsel foreordained to come to pass.

³⁰ The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you murdered by hanging upon a cross. ³¹ Him God has exalted to His right hand as Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

²⁵ As also in Hosea He says: "I will call those My people who were not My people, and her beloved, who was not beloved."

¹² And again, Isaiah says: "There shall be the root of Jesse; and He that shall rise to rule over the Gentiles, in Him the Gentiles shall hope."

¹⁵ Then the seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were great voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdom of this world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!"
