¹³ And he said to him, Say now to her, Behold, you have taken all this trouble for us; what should I do for you? Have you any request to make to the king, or to the captain of the army? And she said, I dwell in the midst of my people.

²⁴ Except what things the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men that went with me, Eschol, Aner, Mamre, these shall take a portion.

¹ And it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a man went from Bethlehem, Judah to sojourn in the land of Moab — he, his wife, and his two sons. ² And the man's name was Elimelech, and his wife's name was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion — Ephrathites of Bethlehem, Judah. And they came to the land of Moab, and remained there. ³ And Elimelech, Naomi's husband died; and she was left, and her two sons. ⁴ And they took to themselves wives, women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the second was Ruth; and they dwelt there about ten years.

¹³ And you shall say to Amasa, Are you not my bone and my flesh? And now God do so to me and more also, if you shall not be commander of the army before me continually in the place of Joab.

³² And Barzillai was a very old man, eighty years old; and he had provided for the king when he dwelt in Mahanaim; for he was a very great man. ³³ And the king said to Barzillai, You shall go over with me, and I will nourish your old age with me in Jerusalem. ³⁴ And Barzillai said to the king, How many are the days of the years of my life, that I should go up with the king to Jerusalem? ³⁵ I am this day eighty years old: can I then distinguish between good and evil? Can your servant taste any longer what I eat or drink? Can I any longer hear the voice of singing men or singing women? And why shall your servant any longer be a burden to my lord the king? ³⁶ Your servant will go a little way over the Jordan with the king. And why does the king return me this recompense? ³⁷ Let your servant remain, I pray, and I will die in my city, by the tomb of my father and of my mother. And behold, your servant Chimham shall go over with my lord the king; and do to him as it seems good in your eyes. ³⁸ And the king said, Let Chimham go over with me, and I will do to him what is good in my sight; and whatsoever you shall choose at my hand, I will do for you.

³² And the Lord has returned upon his own head the blood of his unrighteousness, inasmuch as he attacked two men more righteous and better than himself, and slew them with the sword, and my father David knew not of their blood, even Abner the son of Ner the commander-in-chief of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether the commander-in-chief of Judah.

¹⁵ And now fetch me a harpist. And it came to pass, as the harpist played, that the hand of the Lord came upon him. ¹⁶ And he said, Thus says the Lord: Make this valley full of trenches. ¹⁷ For thus says the Lord: You shall not see wind, neither shall you see rain, yet this valley shall be filled with water, and you and your flocks and your cattle shall drink. ¹⁸ And this is a light thing in the eyes of the Lord: I will also deliver Moab into your hand.

¹ And Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise and go, you and your household, and sojourn wherever you may sojourn; for the Lord has called for a famine upon the land; indeed it will come upon the land for seven years.

³ And it came to pass after the expiration of the seven years, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines to the city, and came to cry to the king for her house and for her land. ⁴ And the king spoke to Gehazi the servant of Elisha the man of God, saying, Please tell me of all the great things that Elisha has done. ⁵ And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored to life the dead son, behold, the woman whose son Elisha restored to life came crying to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life. ⁶ And the king asked the woman, and she told him. And the king appointed her a eunuch, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field from the day that she left the land until now.

⁵ And he went in, and behold, the captains of the army were sitting; and he said, I have a message for you, O captain. And Jehu said, To which one of us? And he said, To you, O captain.

³ Hope in the Lord, and do good; and dwell on the land, and you shall be fed with the wealth of it.

⁴⁰ "He that receives you receives Me, and he that receives Me receives Him who sent Me. ⁴¹ He that receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward. And he that receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. ⁴² And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward."

³ And He said to them, "Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor knapsack nor bread nor silver; and do not have two tunics apiece. ⁴ Whatever house you may enter, stay there, and from there go out. ⁵ And as many as will not receive you, when you go out from that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them."

² so that you may receive her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints, and you may stand by her in whatever thing she may need from you; for indeed she has proved to be a helper of many and of myself also.

⁶ Greet Mary, who labored much for us.

¹⁸ And I have all things and abound. I have been made full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God. ¹⁹ And my God will supply all your need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

¹² And we request of you, brothers, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and instruct you, ¹³ and to regard them beyond all measure in love, because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.

⁶ But godliness with contentment is great gain. ⁷ For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain that neither can we carry anything out! ⁸ But having food and clothing, with these things we shall be content.

¹⁶ May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me, and he was not ashamed of my chain; ¹⁷ but when he arrived in Rome, he more diligently sought me out and found me. ¹⁸ May the Lord grant to him to find mercy from the Lord in that Day--and you very well know how many ways he served in Ephesus.

¹⁰ For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

⁵ Let your way of life be without loving money, being satisfied with what you have. For He Himself has said, "By no means shall I desert you, nor in any way shall I forsake you;"
