¹⁴ A despairing man should have the kindness of his friend, even if he forsakes the fear of the Almighty.

¹¹ Abraham replied, “I thought to myself, ‘Surely there is no fear of God in this place. They will kill me on account of my wife.’

³ Surely you have instructed many, and have strengthened their feeble hands. ⁴ Your words have steadied those who stumbled; you have braced the knees that were buckling. ⁵ But now trouble has come upon you, and you are weary. It strikes you, and you are dismayed.

⁴ But you even undermine the fear of God and hinder meditation before Him.

⁵ But I would encourage you with my mouth, and the consolation of my lips would bring relief.

²¹ Have pity on me, my friends, have pity, for the hand of God has struck me.
