³⁷ But let your statement ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and ‘No,’ ‘No.’ Anything more than these comes from evil.

¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.’

¹⁹ Everyone hearing the word of the kingdom and not understanding, the evil one comes and snatches away that having been sown in his heart. This is the one having been sown on the path.

³⁸ and the field is the world; and the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the weeds are the sons of the evil one;

¹⁹ For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual immorality, thefts, false testimonies, slanders.

⁴⁴ You are of your father the devil, and you desire to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he might speak falsehood, he speaks from the own; for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Or do I purpose what I purpose according to flesh, so that with me there should be “Yes, yes” and “No, no”? ¹⁸ But God is faithful, that our word to you was not “Yes” and “No.” ¹⁹ For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, having been proclaimed among you by us—by me and Silvanus and Timothy—was not “Yes” and “No,” but it has always been “Yes” in Him. ²⁰ For as many as are the promises of God, in Him is the “Yes.” Therefore also in Him, the “Amen” by us is for glory to God.

²⁵ Therefore having put off falsehood, let each one speak truth with his neighbor, because we are members of one another.

⁹ Do not lie to one another, having put off the old man with his practices,

⁶ Let your speech be always in grace, having been seasoned with salt, to know how it behooves you to answer each one.

³ But the Lord is faithful, who will strengthen you and will keep you from evil.

¹² But before all things, my brothers, do not swear, neither by heaven, nor the earth, nor any other oath. But let your “Yes” be yes, and the “No,” no, so that you might not fall under judgment.

¹³ I am writing to you, fathers because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I have written to you, little children, because you know the Father.

¹² not as Cain, who was of the evil one and slew his brother. And why did he slay him? Because his works were evil, but those of his brother, righteous.

¹⁸ We know that everyone having been born of God does not continue to sin, but the One having been begotten of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him.
