Luke 18 Cross References - BLB

1 And He was speaking to them a parable about the way it behooves them always to pray and not to lose heart, 2 saying, “In a certain city, there was a certain judge, not fearing God, and not respecting man. 3 And there was a widow in that city, and she was coming to him, saying, ‘Avenge me of my adversary.’ 4 And for a time he would not, but afterward he said within himself, ‘Even if I do not fear God, nor respect man, 5 yet because this widow causes me trouble, I will avenge her, so that in the end she does not exhaust me, coming to me.’” 6 And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. 7 And shall not God execute the avenging of His elect, the ones crying out to Him day and night, and be deferring in regard to them? 8 I say to you that He will execute their avenging in quickness. Nevertheless, the Son of Man having come, will He find faith on the earth?” 9 And He also spoke this parable to some trusting in themselves that they are righteous, and despising others: 10 “Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee having stood, was praying toward himself thus: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like the rest of the men—swindlers, unrighteous, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice in the week; I tithe all things, as many as I gain.’ 13 But the tax collector, standing afar off, was not even willing to lift up the eyes to heaven, but was striking his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’ 14 I say to you, this one went down to his house justified, rather than that. For everyone exalting himself will be humbled; but the one humbling himself will be exalted.” 15 And they were bringing the infants also to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples having seen, were rebuking them. 16 But Jesus, having called them to Him, said, “Permit the little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of the such is the kingdom of God. 17 Truly I say to you, whoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a child, shall not at all enter into it.” 18 And a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, having done what, will I inherit eternal life?” 19 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good, except God alone. 20 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not bear false witness, you shall honor your father and mother.’” 21 And he said, “All these have I kept from my youth.” 22 And having heard, Jesus said to him, “To you, yet one thing is lacking: Sell all, as much as you have, and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in the heavens; and come, follow Me.” 23 And having heard these things, he became very sorrowful; for he was extremely rich. 24 And having seen him, Jesus became sorrowful, saying, “How difficultly those having riches shall enter into the kingdom of God. 25 For it is easier for a camel to go through an eye of a needle, than a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.” 26 And those having heard said, “Then who is able to be saved?” 27 But He said, “The things impossible with men are possible with God.” 28 And Peter said, “Behold, we having left the own, followed You.” 29 And He said to them, “Truly I say to you that there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God, 30 who shall not receive manifold more in this time—and in the age that is coming, eternal life.” 31 And having taken aside the Twelve, He said to them, “Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things having been written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be accomplished. 32 For He will be betrayed to the Gentiles and will be mocked and will be insulted and will be spit upon. 33 And having flogged Him, they will kill Him; and on the third day He will rise again.” 34 And they understood none of these things, and this word was hidden from them, and they did not know the things being spoken. 35 And it came to pass in His drawing near to Jericho, a certain blind man was sitting beside the road, begging. 36 And having heard a crowd passing along, he was asking what this might be. 37 And they told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” 38 And he called out saying, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 39 And those going before were rebuking him, that he should be silent. But he kept crying out much more, “Son of David, have mercy on me.” 40 And Jesus, having stopped, commanded him to be brought to Him. And of him having drawn near, He asked him, 41 “What do you desire I shall do to you?” And he said, “Lord, that I might receive sight.” 42 And Jesus said to him, “Receive sight! Your faith has healed you.” 43 And immediately he received sight and began following Him, glorifying God. And all the people having seen it gave praise to God.

You have treasured up in the last days. 4 Behold, the wage of the workmen having harvested your fields, having been kept back by you, cries out, and the cries of those having harvested have entered into the ears of the Lord of Hosts. 5 You lived in luxury and lived in self-indulgence upon the earth. You have fattened your hearts in the day of slaughter. 6 You have condemned and have put to death the righteous; he does not resist you. 7 Therefore be patient, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. 1 John 1:8-10

8 If we should say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we should confess our sins, He is faithful and just, that He may forgive us our sins and might cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we should say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

James 2:21-25

21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, having offered his son Isaac upon the altar? 22 You see that his faith was working with his works, and by his works, his faith was perfected. 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled, saying, “And Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness,” and he was called a friend of God. 24 You see that a man is justified by works, and not by faith alone. 25 And likewise was not Rahab the prostitute also justified by works, having received the messengers and having sent them forth by another way?

Do this and you will live.”

John 13:13-15

Romans 7:7-11

7 What then shall we say? Is the Law sin? Never may it be! But I have not known sin, if not by Law. And indeed, I had not been conscious of covetousness if the Law had not said, “You shall not covet.” 8 But sin, having taken an occasion by the commandment, produced in me all covetousness; for apart from the Law, sin is dead. 9 And I once was alive apart from Law; but the commandment having come, sin revived, and I died; 10 and this commandment that was unto life proved to be death to me. 11 For sin, having taken an occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it put me to death.

Romans 13:9

10 For as many as are of works of the Law are under a curse, for it has been written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue all things having been written in the book of the Law, to do them.” 11 Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, because “The righteous will live by faith.” 12 But the Law is not of faith. Rather, “The one having done these things will live by them.” 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it has been written: “Cursed is everyone hanging on a tree”—
