⁵ Walk in wisdom toward those outside, redeeming the time.

¹⁶ Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves; therefore be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves.

¹¹ And He was saying to them, “To you has been given the mystery of the kingdom of God, but to those who are outside, everything is done in parables,

¹⁹ For your obedience has reached to all. Therefore I rejoice over you. But I wish you to be wise to good, and innocent to evil.

¹² For what is it to me to judge those outside? Do you not judge those within? ¹³ But God will judge those outside. “Expel the evil out from among yourselves.”

¹⁹ But in the church, I desire to speak five words with my mind, that also I might instruct others, rather than ten thousand words in a tongue. ²⁰ Brothers, do not be children in the minds. Yet in the evil, be little children; but in the thinking, be full grown. ²¹ In the Law it has been written: “By other tongues, and by other lips, I will speak to this people, and not even thus will they hear Me, says the Lord.” ²² So then, tongues are for a sign, not to those believing, but to the unbelieving; but prophecy is not to the unbelieving, but to the believing. ²³ Therefore if the whole church gathers together in one place and all should speak in tongues, but uninstructed ones or unbelievers come in, will not they say that you are mad? ²⁴ But if all prophesy, and some unbeliever or uninstructed should come in, he is convicted by all, he is examined by all, ²⁵ and the secrets of his heart become manifest. And thus having fallen upon his face, he will worship God, declaring that God is certainly among you.

¹⁵ Therefore carefully take heed how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, ¹⁶ redeeming the time, because the days are evil. ¹⁷ Because of this, do not be foolish, but understand what is the Lord’s will,

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing each other in all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with grace in your hearts to God.

¹² so that you may walk properly toward those outside, and may have need of no one.

⁷ And it behooves him also to have a good testimony from those outside, so that he might not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

⁵ Now if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask from God, the One giving generously to all and not finding fault, and it will be given to him.

¹³ Who is wise and understanding among you; let him show his works out of the good conduct, in the humility of wisdom.

¹⁷ But the wisdom from above is indeed first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and of good fruits, impartial, sincere.

¹ Likewise wives, be subject to the own husbands so that, even if any are disobedient to the word, they will be won over without word by the conduct of the wives,
