⁴⁷ Ἀμὴν (Truly), ἀμὴν (truly), λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), ὁ (the one) πιστεύων (believing) ἔχει (has) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal).

⁵³ Εἶπεν (Said) οὖν (therefore) αὐτοῖς (to them) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Ἀμὴν (Truly), ἀμὴν (truly), λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not) φάγητε (you shall have eaten) τὴν (the) σάρκα (flesh) τοῦ (of the) Υἱοῦ (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man), καὶ (and) πίητε (shall have drunk) αὐτοῦ (of Him) τὸ (the) αἷμα (blood), οὐκ (not) ἔχετε (you have) ζωὴν (life) ἐν (in) ἑαυτοῖς (yourselves). ⁵⁴ ὁ (The one) τρώγων (eating) μου (of Me) τὴν (the) σάρκα (flesh), καὶ (and) πίνων (drinking) μου (of Me) τὸ (the) αἷμα (blood), ἔχει (has) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal), κἀγὼ (and I) ἀναστήσω (will raise up) αὐτὸν (him) τῇ (in the) ἐσχάτῃ (last) ἡμέρᾳ (day). ⁵⁵ ἡ (The) γὰρ (for) σάρξ (flesh) μου (of Me), ἀληθής (true) ἐστιν (is) βρῶσις (food), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) αἷμά (blood) μου (of Me), ἀληθής (true) ἐστιν (is) πόσις (drink). ⁵⁶ Ὁ (The one) τρώγων (eating) μου (of Me) τὴν (the) σάρκα (flesh) καὶ (and) πίνων (drinking) μου (of Me) τὸ (the) αἷμα (blood), ἐν (in) ἐμοὶ (Me) μένει (abides), κἀγὼ (and I) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (him). ⁵⁷ καθὼς (As) ἀπέστειλέν (sent) με (Me) ὁ (the) ζῶν (living) Πατὴρ (Father), κἀγὼ (and I) ζῶ (live) διὰ (because of) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father), καὶ (also) ὁ (the one) τρώγων (feeding on) με (Me), κἀκεῖνος (he also) ζήσει (will live) δι’ (because of) ἐμέ (Me). ⁵⁸ οὗτός (This) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) ἄρτος (bread) ὁ (-) ἐξ (from) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) καταβάς (having come down), οὐ (not) καθὼς (as) ἔφαγον (ate) οἱ (the) πατέρες (fathers) καὶ (and) ἀπέθανον (died). ὁ (The one) τρώγων (eating) τοῦτον (this) τὸν (-) ἄρτον (bread) ζήσει (will live) εἰς (to) τὸν (the) αἰῶνα (age).”

²³ τοῦτον (Him) τῇ (by the) ὡρισμένῃ (determinate) βουλῇ (plan) καὶ (and) προγνώσει (foreknowledge) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἔκδοτον (delivered up) διὰ (by) χειρὸς (hands) ἀνόμων (lawless), προσπήξαντες (having crucified), ἀνείλατε (You put to death),

¹⁸ ὁ (-) δὲ (But) Θεὸς (God) ἃ (what) προκατήγγειλεν (He foretold) διὰ (by) στόματος (the mouth) πάντων (of all) τῶν (the) προφητῶν (prophets), παθεῖν (that should suffer) τὸν (the) Χριστὸν (Christ) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ἐπλήρωσεν (He has fulfilled) οὕτως (thus).

²⁸ ποιῆσαι (to do) ὅσα (whatever) ἡ (the) χείρ (hand) σου (of You) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) βουλὴ (purpose) [σου] (of You) προώρισεν (had determined beforehand) γενέσθαι (to happen).

³⁸ Γνωστὸν (Known) οὖν (therefore) ἔστω (be it) ὑμῖν (to you), ἄνδρες (men), ἀδελφοί (brothers), ὅτι (that) διὰ (through) τούτου (this One), ὑμῖν (to you) ἄφεσις (forgiveness) ἁμαρτιῶν (of sins) καταγγέλλεται (is proclaimed). ³⁹ καὶ (And) ἀπὸ (from) πάντων (all things) ὧν (from which) οὐκ (not) ἠδυνήθητε (you were able) ἐν (in) νόμῳ (the law) Μωϋσέως (of Moses) δικαιωθῆναι (to be justified), ἐν (in) τούτῳ (Him) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) πιστεύων (believing) δικαιοῦται (is justified).

¹⁸ γνωστὰ (known) ἀπ’ (from) αἰῶνος (eternity).’

³⁰ Τοὺς (The) μὲν (indeed) οὖν (therefore) χρόνους (times) τῆς (-) ἀγνοίας (of ignorance) ὑπεριδὼν (having overlooked) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God), τὰ (-) νῦν (now) παραγγέλλει* (He commands) τοῖς (-) ἀνθρώποις (men) πάντας (all) πανταχοῦ (everywhere) μετανοεῖν (to repent),

⁴ ἢ (Or) τοῦ (the) πλούτου (riches) τῆς (of the) χρηστότητος (kindness) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) τῆς (the) ἀνοχῆς (forbearance), καὶ (and) τῆς (the) μακροθυμίας (patience) καταφρονεῖς (despise you), ἀγνοῶν (not knowing) ὅτι (that) τὸ (the) χρηστὸν (kindness) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) εἰς (to) μετάνοιάν (repentance) σε (you) ἄγει (leads)?

²³ πάντες (All) γὰρ (for) ἥμαρτον (have sinned) καὶ (and) ὑστεροῦνται (fall short) τῆς (of the) δόξης (glory) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ²⁴ δικαιούμενοι (being justified) δωρεὰν (freely) τῇ (by the) αὐτοῦ (of Him) χάριτι (grace) διὰ (through) τῆς (the) ἀπολυτρώσεως (redemption) τῆς (that) ἐν (is in) Χριστῷ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus),

²⁶ ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἀνοχῇ (forbearance) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God); πρὸς (for) τὴν (of) ἔνδειξιν (the showing forth) τῆς (the) δικαιοσύνης (righteousness) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) νῦν (present) καιρῷ (time), εἰς (for) τὸ (-) εἶναι (to be) αὐτὸν (Him) δίκαιον (just) καὶ (and) δικαιοῦντα (justifying) τὸν (the one) ἐκ (of) πίστεως (faith) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus).

¹ Τί (What) οὖν (then) ἐροῦμεν (shall we say) εὑρηκέναι (discovered) Ἀβραὰμ (Abraham), τὸν (the) προπάτορα (father) ἡμῶν (of us), κατὰ (according to) σάρκα (the flesh)? ² εἰ (If) γὰρ (for) Ἀβραὰμ (Abraham) ἐξ (by) ἔργων (works) ἐδικαιώθη (was justified), ἔχει (he has) καύχημα (ground of boasting), ἀλλ’ (but) οὐ (not) πρὸς (toward) Θεόν (God). ³ τί (What) γὰρ (for) ἡ (the) γραφὴ (Scripture) λέγει (says)? “Ἐπίστευσεν (Believed) δὲ (then) Ἀβραὰμ (Abraham) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God), καὶ (and) ἐλογίσθη (it was reckoned) αὐτῷ (to him) εἰς (for) δικαιοσύνην (righteousness).” ⁴ Τῷ (To the one) δὲ (now) ἐργαζομένῳ (working), ὁ (the) μισθὸς (reward) οὐ (not) λογίζεται (is reckoned) κατὰ (according to) χάριν (grace), ἀλλὰ (but) κατὰ (according to) ὀφείλημα (debt). ⁵ τῷ (To the one) δὲ (however) μὴ (not) ἐργαζομένῳ (working), πιστεύοντι (believing) δὲ (however) ἐπὶ (on) τὸν (the One) δικαιοῦντα (justifying) τὸν (the) ἀσεβῆ (ungodly), λογίζεται (is reckoned) ἡ (the) πίστις (faith) αὐτοῦ (of him) εἰς (for) δικαιοσύνην (righteousness), ⁶ καθάπερ (just as) καὶ (also) Δαυὶδ (David) λέγει (declares) τὸν (the) μακαρισμὸν (blessedness) τοῦ (of the) ἀνθρώπου (man) ᾧ (to whom) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) λογίζεται (credits) δικαιοσύνην (righteousness) χωρὶς (apart from) ἔργων (works): ⁷ “Μακάριοι (Blessed) ὧν (are they of whom) ἀφέθησαν (are forgiven) αἱ (the) ἀνομίαι (lawless deeds), καὶ (and) ὧν (of whom) ἐπεκαλύφθησαν (are covered) αἱ (the) ἁμαρτίαι (sins); ⁸ μακάριος (blessed) ἀνὴρ (the man) οὗ (against whom) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) λογίσηται (will reckon) Κύριος (the Lord) ἁμαρτίαν (sin).”

¹ Δικαιωθέντες (Having been justified) οὖν (therefore) ἐκ (by) πίστεως (faith), εἰρήνην (peace) ἔχομεν* (we have) πρὸς (with) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God), διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ),

⁹ Πολλῷ (Much) οὖν (therefore) μᾶλλον (more), δικαιωθέντες (having been justified) νῦν (now) ἐν (by) τῷ (the) αἵματι (blood) αὐτοῦ (of Him), σωθησόμεθα (we will be saved) δι’ (by) αὐτοῦ (Him) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) ὀργῆς (wrath)!

¹¹ οὐ (Not) μόνον (only so) δέ (now), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) καυχώμενοι (we are rejoicing) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God) διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), δι’ (through) οὗ (whom) νῦν (now) τὴν (the) καταλλαγὴν (reconciliation) ἐλάβομεν (we have received).

²⁰ καὶ (and) δι’ (by) αὐτοῦ (Him) ἀποκαταλλάξαι (to reconcile) τὰ (-) πάντα (all things) εἰς (to) αὐτόν (Himself), εἰρηνοποιήσας (having made peace) διὰ (by) τοῦ (the) αἵματος (blood) τοῦ (of the) σταυροῦ (cross) αὐτοῦ (of Him), δι’ (through) αὐτοῦ (Him), εἴτε (whether) τὰ (the things) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), εἴτε (or) τὰ (the things) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens). ²¹ Καὶ (And) ὑμᾶς (you), ποτε (once) ὄντας (being) ἀπηλλοτριωμένους (alienated) καὶ (and) ἐχθροὺς (hostile) τῇ (-) διανοίᾳ (in mind) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) ἔργοις (deeds) τοῖς (-) πονηροῖς (evil), ²² νυνὶ (now) δὲ (however) ἀποκατήλλαξεν (He has reconciled You) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) σώματι (body) τῆς (of the) σαρκὸς (flesh) αὐτοῦ (of Him) διὰ (through) τοῦ (-) θανάτου (death), παραστῆσαι (to present) ὑμᾶς (you) ἁγίους (holy) καὶ (and) ἀμώμους (unblemished) καὶ (and) ἀνεγκλήτους (blameless) κατενώπιον (before) αὐτοῦ (Him), ²³ εἴ (if) γε (indeed) ἐπιμένετε (you continue) τῇ (-) πίστει (in the faith), τεθεμελιωμένοι (established) καὶ (and) ἑδραῖοι (firm), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) μετακινούμενοι (being moved away) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) ἐλπίδος (hope) τοῦ (of the) εὐαγγελίου (gospel) οὗ (that) ἠκούσατε (you have heard), τοῦ (-) κηρυχθέντος (having been proclaimed) ἐν (in) πάσῃ (all) κτίσει (creation) τῇ (-) ὑπὸ (under) τὸν (-) οὐρανόν (heaven), οὗ (of which) ἐγενόμην (have become) ἐγὼ (I) Παῦλος (Paul) διάκονος (a minister).

¹⁵ Πιστὸς (Trustworthy is) ὁ (the) λόγος (saying) καὶ (and) πάσης (of full) ἀποδοχῆς (acceptance) ἄξιος (worthy), ὅτι (that) Χριστὸς (Christ) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἦλθεν (came) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world) ἁμαρτωλοὺς (sinners) σῶσαι (to save), ὧν (of whom) πρῶτός (the foremost) εἰμι (am) ἐγώ (I).

⁵ ὑπεράνω (Above) δὲ (then) αὐτῆς (it) Χερουβὶν (were the cherubim) δόξης (of glory), κατασκιάζοντα (overshadowing) τὸ (the) ἱλαστήριον (mercy seat); περὶ (concerning) ὧν (which) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (it is) νῦν (now the time) λέγειν (to speak) κατὰ (in) μέρος (detail).

¹⁴ πόσῳ (how much) μᾶλλον (more) τὸ (the) αἷμα (blood) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), ὃς (who) διὰ (through) Πνεύματος (the Spirit) αἰωνίου (eternal), ἑαυτὸν (Himself) προσήνεγκεν (offered) ἄμωμον (unblemished) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God), καθαριεῖ (will purify) τὴν (the) συνείδησιν (conscience) ἡμῶν (of us) ἀπὸ (from) νεκρῶν (dead) ἔργων (works), εἰς (in order) τὸ (-) λατρεύειν (to serve) Θεῷ (God) ζῶντι (the living)! ¹⁵ Καὶ (And) διὰ (because of) τοῦτο (this), διαθήκης (of a covenant) καινῆς (new) μεσίτης (the mediator) ἐστίν (He is), ὅπως (so that), θανάτου (death) γενομένου (having taken place), εἰς (for) ἀπολύτρωσιν (redemption) τῶν (of the) ἐπὶ (under) τῇ (the) πρώτῃ (first) διαθήκῃ (covenant) παραβάσεων (transgressions), τὴν (the) ἐπαγγελίαν (promise) λάβωσιν (might receive) οἱ (those) κεκλημένοι (having been called), τῆς (of the) αἰωνίου (eternal) κληρονομίας (inheritance). ¹⁶ Ὅπου (Where) γὰρ (for) διαθήκη (there is a will), θάνατον (the death) ἀνάγκη (it is necessary) φέρεσθαι (to establish) τοῦ (of the one) διαθεμένου (having made it). ¹⁷ διαθήκη (A will) γὰρ (for) ἐπὶ (after) νεκροῖς (death) βεβαία (is affirmed), ἐπεὶ (since) μή‿ (not) ποτε (at the time) ἰσχύει (it is in force), ὅτε (when) ζῇ (is living) ὁ (the one) διαθέμενος (having made it), ¹⁸ Ὅθεν (wherefore) οὐδὲ (neither) ἡ (the) πρώτη (first), χωρὶς (apart from) αἵματος (blood) ἐνκεκαίνισται (has been inaugurated). ¹⁹ λαληθείσης (Having been spoken) γὰρ (for) πάσης (of every) ἐντολῆς (commandment) κατὰ (according to) τὸν (the) νόμον (law) ὑπὸ (by) Μωϋσέως (Moses) παντὶ (to all) τῷ (the) λαῷ (people), λαβὼν (having taken) τὸ (the) αἷμα (blood) τῶν (-) μόσχων (of calves) καὶ (and) τῶν (-) τράγων (of goats), μετὰ (with) ὕδατος (water), καὶ (and) ἐρίου (wool) κοκκίνου (scarlet), καὶ (and) ὑσσώπου (hyssop), αὐτό (itself) τε (both) τὸ (the) βιβλίον (book) καὶ (and) πάντα (all) τὸν (the) λαὸν (people) ἐράντισεν (he sprinkled), ²⁰ λέγων (saying), “Τοῦτο (This is) τὸ (the) αἷμα (blood) τῆς (of the) διαθήκης (covenant), ἧς (which) ἐνετείλατο (commanded) πρὸς (unto) ὑμᾶς (you) ὁ (-) Θεός (God).” ²¹ Καὶ (And) τὴν (the) σκηνὴν (tabernacle) δὲ (then), καὶ (and) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) σκεύη (vessels) τῆς (of the) λειτουργίας (ministry) τῷ (with) αἵματι (blood) ὁμοίως (likewise) ἐράντισεν (he sprinkled). ²² καὶ (And) σχεδὸν (almost) ἐν (with) αἵματι (blood) πάντα (all things) καθαρίζεται (are purified), κατὰ (according to) τὸν (the) νόμον (law), καὶ (and) χωρὶς (apart from) αἱματεκχυσίας (blood-shedding), οὐ (not) γίνεται (there is) ἄφεσις (forgiveness).

²⁵ οὐδ’ (nor) ἵνα (that) πολλάκις (repeatedly) προσφέρῃ (He should offer) ἑαυτόν (Himself), ὥσπερ (just as) ὁ (the) ἀρχιερεὺς (high priest) εἰσέρχεται (enters) εἰς (into) τὰ (the) ἅγια (holy places) κατ’ (every) ἐνιαυτὸν (year) ἐν (with) αἵματι (the blood) ἀλλοτρίῳ (of another). ²⁶ Ἐπεὶ (Otherwise) ἔδει (it was necessary for) αὐτὸν (Him) πολλάκις (repeatedly) παθεῖν (to have suffered) ἀπὸ (from) καταβολῆς (the foundation) κόσμου (of the world). νυνὶ (Now) δὲ (however) ἅπαξ (once) ἐπὶ (in) συντελείᾳ (the consummation) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages), εἰς (for) ἀθέτησιν (the putting away) τῆς (of) ἁμαρτίας (sin), διὰ (by) τῆς (the) θυσίας (sacrifice) αὐτοῦ (of Himself) πεφανέρωται (He has been revealed).

⁴ ἀδύνατον (Impossible it is) γὰρ (indeed) αἷμα (for the blood) ταύρων (of bulls) καὶ (and) τράγων (of goats) ἀφαιρεῖν (to take away) ἁμαρτίας (sins).

¹⁹ Ἔχοντες (Having) οὖν (therefore), ἀδελφοί (brothers), παρρησίαν (confidence) εἰς (for) τὴν (the) εἴσοδον (entering) τῶν (the) ἁγίων (holy places) ἐν (by) τῷ (the) αἵματι (blood) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus), ²⁰ ἣν (which) ἐνεκαίνισεν (He dedicated) ἡμῖν (for us) ὁδὸν (a way) πρόσφατον (new), καὶ (and) ζῶσαν (living), διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) καταπετάσματος (veil), τοῦτ’ (that) ἔστιν (is), τῆς (the) σαρκὸς (flesh) αὐτοῦ (of Him),

⁷ Πίστει (By faith) χρηματισθεὶς (having been divinely instructed) Νῶε (Noah) περὶ (concerning) τῶν (the things) μηδέπω (not yet) βλεπομένων (seen), εὐλαβηθεὶς (having been moved with fear), κατεσκεύασεν (prepared) κιβωτὸν (an ark) εἰς (for) σωτηρίαν (the salvation) τοῦ (of the) οἴκου (household) αὐτοῦ (of him), δι’ (by) ἧς (which) κατέκρινεν (he condemned) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world), καὶ (and) τῆς (of the) κατὰ (according to) πίστιν (faith) δικαιοσύνης (righteousness that is), ἐγένετο (he became) κληρονόμος (heir).

¹⁴ οἱ (Those) γὰρ (for) τοιαῦτα (such things) λέγοντες (saying) ἐμφανίζουσιν (make manifest) ὅτι (that their) πατρίδα (own country) ἐπιζητοῦσιν (they are seeking).

¹⁷ Πίστει (By faith) προσενήνοχεν (has offered up) Ἀβραὰμ (Abraham) τὸν (-) Ἰσαὰκ (Isaac). πειραζόμενος (Being tested), καὶ (even) τὸν (his) μονογενῆ (only begotten son) προσέφερεν (was offering up) ὁ (the one) τὰς (the) ἐπαγγελίας (promises) ἀναδεξάμενος (having received),

³⁹ Καὶ (And) οὗτοι (these) πάντες (all), μαρτυρηθέντες (having been commended) διὰ (through) τῆς (the) πίστεως (faith), οὐκ (not) ἐκομίσαντο (did receive) τὴν (the) ἐπαγγελίαν (promise), ⁴⁰ τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) περὶ (for) ἡμῶν (us) κρεῖττόν (better) τι (something) προβλεψαμένου (having planned), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) χωρὶς (apart from) ἡμῶν (us) τελειωθῶσιν (they should be made perfect).

¹⁸ εἰδότες (knowing) ὅτι (that) οὐ (not) φθαρτοῖς (by perishable things) — ἀργυρίῳ (by silver) ἢ (or) χρυσίῳ (by gold) — ἐλυτρώθητε (you were redeemed) ἐκ (from) τῆς (the) ματαίας (futile) ὑμῶν (of you) ἀναστροφῆς (manner of life) πατροπαραδότου (handed down from your fathers), ¹⁹ ἀλλὰ (but) τιμίῳ (by the precious) αἵματι (blood), ὡς (as) ἀμνοῦ (of a lamb) ἀμώμου (without blemish) καὶ (and) ἀσπίλου (without spot), Χριστοῦ (of Christ), ²⁰ προεγνωσμένου (having been foreknown) μὲν (indeed) πρὸ (before) καταβολῆς (the foundation) κόσμου (of the world), φανερωθέντος (having been revealed) δὲ (however) ἐπ’ (in) ἐσχάτου (the last) τῶν (-) χρόνων (times) δι’ (for the sake of) ὑμᾶς (you),

¹⁰ ἐὰν (If) εἴπωμεν (we should say) ὅτι (that) οὐχ (not) ἡμαρτήκαμεν (we have sinned), ψεύστην (a liar) ποιοῦμεν (we make) αὐτὸν (Him), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) λόγος (word) αὐτοῦ (of Him) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is) ἐν (in) ἡμῖν (us).

² καὶ (And) αὐτὸς (He) ἱλασμός (the propitiation) ἐστιν (is) περὶ (for) τῶν (the) ἁμαρτιῶν (sins) ἡμῶν (of us); οὐ (not) περὶ (for) τῶν (the) ἡμετέρων (of ours) δὲ (and) μόνον (only), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) περὶ (for) ὅλου (all) τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world).

¹⁰ ἐν (In) τούτῳ (this) ἐστὶν (is) ἡ (-) ἀγάπη (love), οὐχ (not) ὅτι (that) ἡμεῖς (we) ἠγαπήκαμεν (loved) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God), ἀλλ’ (but) ὅτι (that) αὐτὸς (He) ἠγάπησεν (loved) ἡμᾶς (us) καὶ (and) ἀπέστειλεν (sent) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἱλασμὸν (as a propitiation) περὶ (for) τῶν (the) ἁμαρτιῶν (sins) ἡμῶν (of us).

⁹ καὶ (And) ᾄδουσιν (they are singing) ᾠδὴν (a song) καινὴν (new), λέγοντες (saying), “Ἄξιος (Worthy) εἶ (are You) λαβεῖν (to take) τὸ (the) βιβλίον (scroll), καὶ (and) ἀνοῖξαι (to open) τὰς (the) σφραγῖδας (seals) αὐτοῦ (of it), ὅτι (because) ἐσφάγης (You were slain), καὶ (and) ἠγόρασας (You purchased) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God) ἐν (by) τῷ (the) αἵματί (blood) σου (of You), ἐκ (out of) πάσης (every) φυλῆς (tribe) καὶ (and) γλώσσης (tongue) καὶ (and) λαοῦ (people) καὶ (and) ἔθνους (nation),

⁸ καὶ (And) προσκυνήσουσιν (will worship) αὐτὸν (it) πάντες (all) οἱ (-) κατοικοῦντες (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), οὗ (of whom) οὐ (not) γέγραπται (have been written) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (names) αὐτοῦ (of them) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) βιβλίῳ (book) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb) τοῦ (-) ἐσφαγμένου (having been slain), ἀπὸ (from) καταβολῆς (the founding) κόσμου (of the world).

¹⁵ καὶ (And) εἴ (if) τις (anyone) οὐχ (not) εὑρέθη (was found) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) βίβλῳ (book) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life) γεγραμμένος (having been written), ἐβλήθη (he was cast) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) λίμνην (lake) τοῦ (-) πυρός (of fire).
