²⁶ τί (What) γὰρ (for) ὠφεληθήσεται (will it profit) ἄνθρωπος (a man), ἐὰν (if) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world) ὅλον (whole) κερδήσῃ (he gains), τὴν (-) δὲ (but) ψυχὴν (the soul) αὐτοῦ (of him) ζημιωθῇ (loses)? ἢ (Or) τί (what) δώσει (will give) ἄνθρωπος (a man) ἀντάλλαγμα (as an exchange for) τῆς (the) ψυχῆς (soul) αὐτοῦ (of him)?

⁸ Πάλιν (Again) παραλαμβάνει (takes) αὐτὸν (Him) ὁ (the) διάβολος (devil) εἰς (to) ὄρος (a mountain) ὑψηλὸν (high) λίαν (exceedingly), καὶ (and) δείκνυσιν (shows) αὐτῷ (to Him) πάσας (all) τὰς (the) βασιλείας (kingdoms) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) δόξαν (glory) αὐτῶν (of them), ⁹ καὶ (and) εἶπεν (he says) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Ταῦτά (These things) σοι (to You) πάντα (all) δώσω (will I give), ἐὰν (if) πεσὼν (falling down), προσκυνήσῃς (You will worship) μοι (me).”

²⁹ εἰ (If) δὲ (now) ὁ (the) ὀφθαλμός (eye) σου (of you) ὁ (-) δεξιὸς (right) σκανδαλίζει (causes to stumble) σε (you), ἔξελε (pluck out) αὐτὸν (it) καὶ (and) βάλε (cast it) ἀπὸ (from) σοῦ (you); συμφέρει (it is better) γάρ (for) σοι (for you) ἵνα (that) ἀπόληται (should perish) ἓν (one) τῶν (of the) μελῶν (members) σου (of you), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) ὅλον (all) τὸ (the) σῶμά (body) σου (of you) βληθῇ (should be cast) εἰς (into) γέενναν (hell).

²⁰ Εἶπεν (Said) δὲ (then) αὐτῷ (to him) ὁ (-) Θεός (God), ‘Ἄφρων (Fool)! ταύτῃ (This) τῇ (-) νυκτὶ (night), τὴν (the) ψυχήν (soul) σου (of you) ἀπαιτοῦσιν (is required) ἀπὸ (of) σοῦ (you); ἃ (what) δὲ (now) ἡτοίμασας (you did prepare)— τίνι (to whom) ἔσται (will it be)?’

²⁵ Εἶπεν (Said) δὲ (then) Ἀβραάμ (Abraham), ‘Τέκνον (Child), μνήσθητι (remember) ὅτι (that) ἀπέλαβες (you did fully receive) τὰ (the things) ἀγαθά (good) σου (of you) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ζωῇ (lifetime) σου (of you), καὶ (and) Λάζαρος (Lazarus) ὁμοίως (likewise) τὰ (the things) κακά (evil). νῦν (Now) δὲ (however) ὧδε (here) παρακαλεῖται (he is comforted); σὺ (you) δὲ (now) ὀδυνᾶσαι (are suffering).
