¹⁷ Ἀπῆλθεν (Went away) δὲ (then) Ἁνανίας (Ananias) καὶ (and) εἰσῆλθεν (entered) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) οἰκίαν (house); καὶ (and) ἐπιθεὶς (having laid) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτὸν (him) τὰς (the) χεῖρας (hands), εἶπεν (he said), “Σαοὺλ (Saul) ἀδελφέ (Brother), ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) ἀπέσταλκέν (has sent) με (me), Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), ὁ (the One) ὀφθείς (having appeared) σοι (to you) ἐν (on) τῇ (the) ὁδῷ (road) ᾗ (by which) ἤρχου (you were coming), ὅπως (that) ἀναβλέψῃς (you may see again) καὶ (and) πλησθῇς (be filled) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy).”

¹³ Τότε (Then) προσηνέχθησαν (were brought) αὐτῷ (to Him) παιδία (little children), ἵνα (that) τὰς (the) χεῖρας (hands) ἐπιθῇ (He might lay) αὐτοῖς (on them), καὶ (and) προσεύξηται (He might pray). οἱ (-) δὲ (however) μαθηταὶ (the disciples) ἐπετίμησαν (rebuked) αὐτοῖς (them).

⁵ καὶ (And) οὐκ (not) ἐδύνατο (He was able) ἐκεῖ (there) ποιῆσαι (to do) οὐδεμίαν (not any) δύναμιν (work of power), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ὀλίγοις (on a few) ἀρρώστοις (sick), ἐπιθεὶς (having laid) τὰς (the) χεῖρας (hands), ἐθεράπευσεν (He healed).

¹⁶ καὶ (And) πολλοὺς (many) τῶν (of the) υἱῶν (sons) Ἰσραὴλ (of Israel) ἐπιστρέψει (he will turn) ἐπὶ (to) Κύριον (the Lord), τὸν (the) Θεὸν (God) αὐτῶν (of them). ¹⁷ καὶ (And) αὐτὸς (he) προελεύσεται (will go forth) ἐνώπιον (before) αὐτοῦ (Him) ἐν (in) πνεύματι (the spirit) καὶ (and) δυνάμει (power) Ἠλίου (of Elijah), ἐπιστρέψαι (to turn) καρδίας (the hearts) πατέρων (of the fathers) ἐπὶ (to) τέκνα (the children), καὶ (and) ἀπειθεῖς (the disobedient) ἐν (to) φρονήσει (the wisdom) δικαίων (of the righteous), ἑτοιμάσαι (to make ready) Κυρίῳ (for the Lord) λαὸν (a people) κατεσκευασμένον (prepared).”

⁷⁶ Καὶ (And) σὺ (you) δέ (now), παιδίον (child), προφήτης (prophet) Ὑψίστου (of the Most High) κληθήσῃ (will be called); προπορεύσῃ (you will go) γὰρ (for) ἐνώπιον (before) Κυρίου (the Lord), ἑτοιμάσαι (to prepare) ὁδοὺς (ways) αὐτοῦ (of Him);

¹¹ ὅτι (For) ἐτέχθη (has been born) ὑμῖν (to you) σήμερον (today) Σωτήρ (a Savior), ὅς (who) ἐστιν (is) Χριστὸς (Christ) Κύριος (the Lord), ἐν (in) πόλει (the City) Δαυίδ (of David).

³⁰ ὅτε (When) δὲ (however) ὁ (the) υἱός (son) σου (of you) οὗτος (this), ὁ (the one) καταφαγών (having devoured) σου (your) τὸν (-) βίον (living) μετὰ (with) πορνῶν (prostitutes), ἦλθεν (came), ἔθυσας (you have killed) αὐτῷ (for him) τὸν (the) σιτευτὸν (fattened) μόσχον (calf)!’

³² εὐφρανθῆναι (To make merry) δὲ (however) καὶ (and) χαρῆναι (to rejoice) ἔδει (it was fitting), ὅτι (because) ὁ (the) ἀδελφός (brother) σου (of you) οὗτος (this), νεκρὸς (dead) ἦν (was), καὶ (and) ἔζησεν (is alive again); καὶ (and) ἀπολωλὼς (he was lost), καὶ (and) εὑρέθη (is found).’”

⁴ καὶ (And) ἐπλήσθησαν (they were filled with) πάντες (all) Πνεύματος (Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy), καὶ (and) ἤρξαντο (began) λαλεῖν (to speak) ἑτέραις (in other) γλώσσαις (tongues) καθὼς (as) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) ἐδίδου (was giving) ἀποφθέγγεσθαι (to utter forth) αὐτοῖς (to them).

³¹ Καὶ (And) δεηθέντων (having prayed) αὐτῶν (they), ἐσαλεύθη (was shaken) ὁ (the) τόπος (place) ἐν (in) ᾧ (which) ἦσαν (they were) συνηγμένοι (assembled), καὶ (and) ἐπλήσθησαν (they were filled with) ἅπαντες (all) τοῦ (the) Ἁγίου (Holy) Πνεύματος (Spirit) καὶ (and) ἐλάλουν (were speaking) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) μετὰ (with) παρρησίας (boldness).

⁶ οὓς (whom) ἔστησαν (they set) ἐνώπιον (before) τῶν (the) ἀποστόλων (apostles); καὶ (and) προσευξάμενοι (having prayed), ἐπέθηκαν (they laid) αὐτοῖς (on them) τὰς (the) χεῖρας (hands).

¹⁷ τότε (Then) ἐπετίθεσαν (they began laying) τὰς (the) χεῖρας (hands) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτούς (them), καὶ (and) ἐλάμβανον (they received) Πνεῦμα (the Spirit) Ἅγιον (Holy).

⁴ καὶ (And) πεσὼν (having fallen) ἐπὶ (on) τὴν (the) γῆν (ground), ἤκουσεν (he heard) φωνὴν (a voice) λέγουσαν (saying) αὐτῷ (to him), “Σαοὺλ (Saul), Σαούλ (Saul), τί (why) με (Me) διώκεις (do you persecute)?” ⁵ Εἶπεν (He said) δέ (then), “Τίς (Who) εἶ (are You), Κύριε (Lord)?” Ὁ (-) δέ (And He said), “Ἐγώ (I) εἰμι (am) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), ὃν (whom) σὺ (you) διώκεις (are persecuting).

⁸ ἠγέρθη (Rose up) δὲ (then) Σαῦλος (Saul) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) γῆς (ground); ἀνεῳγμένων (having been opened) δὲ (however) τῶν (the) ὀφθαλμῶν (eyes) αὐτοῦ (of him), οὐδὲν (nothing) ἔβλεπεν (he could see). χειραγωγοῦντες (Leading by the hand) δὲ (then) αὐτὸν (him), εἰσήγαγον (they brought him) εἰς (to) Δαμασκόν (Damascus). ⁹ καὶ (And) ἦν (he was) ἡμέρας (days) τρεῖς (three) μὴ (without) βλέπων (seeing), καὶ (and) οὐκ (neither) ἔφαγεν (did he eat) οὐδὲ (nor) ἔπιεν (drink). ¹⁰ Ἦν (There was) δέ (now) τις (a certain) μαθητὴς (disciple) ἐν (in) Δαμασκῷ (Damascus) ὀνόματι (named) Ἁνανίας (Ananias). καὶ (And) εἶπεν (said) πρὸς (to) αὐτὸν (him) ἐν (in) ὁράματι (a vision) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord), “Ἁνανία (Ananias).” Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπεν (he said), “Ἰδοὺ (Behold) ἐγώ (me), Κύριε (Lord).” ¹¹ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Κύριος (the Lord) πρὸς (to) αὐτόν (him said), “Ἀναστὰς (Having risen up), πορεύθητι (go) ἐπὶ (into) τὴν (the) ῥύμην (street) τὴν (-) καλουμένην (called) Εὐθεῖαν (Straight), καὶ (and) ζήτησον (seek) ἐν (in) οἰκίᾳ (the house) Ἰούδα (of Judas) Σαῦλον (Saul) ὀνόματι (named), Ταρσέα (of Tarsus). ἰδοὺ (Behold) γὰρ (for) προσεύχεται (he is praying), ¹² καὶ (and) εἶδεν (he saw) ἄνδρα (a man) ‹ἐν (in) ὁράματι› (a vision) Ἁνανίαν (Ananias) ὀνόματι (named), εἰσελθόντα (having come) καὶ (and) ἐπιθέντα (having put) αὐτῷ (on him) [τὰς] (the) χεῖρας (hands), ὅπως (so that) ἀναβλέψῃ (he might see again).” ¹³ Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) δὲ (but) Ἁνανίας (Ananias), “Κύριε (Lord), ἤκουσα (I have heard) ἀπὸ (from) πολλῶν (many) περὶ (concerning) τοῦ (the) ἀνδρὸς (man) τούτου (this), ὅσα (how many) κακὰ (evils) τοῖς (to) ἁγίοις (saints) σου (of You) ἐποίησεν (he did) ἐν (in) Ἰερουσαλήμ (Jerusalem); ¹⁴ καὶ (and) ὧδε (here) ἔχει (he has) ἐξουσίαν (authority) παρὰ (from) τῶν (the) ἀρχιερέων (chief priests) δῆσαι (to bind) πάντας (all) τοὺς (those) ἐπικαλουμένους (calling on) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) σου (of You).” ¹⁵ Εἶπεν (Said) δὲ (however) πρὸς (to) αὐτὸν (him) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord), “Πορεύου (Go), ὅτι (for) σκεῦος (a vessel) ἐκλογῆς (of choice) ἐστίν (is) μοι (to Me) οὗτος (this man), τοῦ (-) βαστάσαι (to carry) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) μου (of Me) ἐνώπιον (before) (τῶν) (the) ἐθνῶν (Gentiles), τε (and) καὶ (also) βασιλέων (kings), υἱῶν (the sons) τε (then) Ἰσραήλ (of Israel);

³⁶ τὸν (the) λόγον (word) ὃν (that) ἀπέστειλεν (He sent) τοῖς (to the) υἱοῖς (sons) Ἰσραὴλ (of Israel), εὐαγγελιζόμενος (proclaiming the gospel), εἰρήνην (peace) διὰ (by) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ)— οὗτός (He) ἐστιν (is) πάντων (of all) Κύριος (Lord).

³ τότε (Then) νηστεύσαντες (having fasted), καὶ (and) προσευξάμενοι (having prayed), καὶ (and) ἐπιθέντες (having laid) τὰς (the) χεῖρας (hands) αὐτοῖς (on them), ἀπέλυσαν (they sent them off).

⁵² οἵ (-) τε (and) μαθηταὶ (the disciples) ἐπληροῦντο (were filled) χαρᾶς (with joy) καὶ (and the) Πνεύματος (Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy).

⁶ καὶ (And) ἐπιθέντος (having laid) αὐτοῖς (on them) τοῦ (-) Παύλου (Paul) [τὰς] (the) χεῖρας (hands), ἦλθε (came) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τὸ (-) Ἅγιον (Holy) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτούς (them); ἐλάλουν (they were speaking) τε (then) γλώσσαις (in tongues) καὶ (and) ἐπροφήτευον (prophesying).

²⁰ Οἱ (Those) δὲ (then) ἀκούσαντες (having heard) ἐδόξαζον (began glorifying) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God). εἶπόν* (They said) τε (then) αὐτῷ (to him), “Θεωρεῖς (You see), ἀδελφέ (brother), πόσαι (how many) μυριάδες (myriads) εἰσὶν (there are) ἐν (among) τοῖς (the) Ἰουδαίοις (Jews) τῶν (-) πεπιστευκότων (having believed), καὶ (and) πάντες (all) ζηλωταὶ (zealous ones) τοῦ (for the) νόμου (law) ὑπάρχουσιν (are).

¹² Ἁνανίας (Ananias) δέ (then) τις (certain), ἀνὴρ (a man) εὐλαβὴς (devout) κατὰ (according to) τὸν (the) νόμον (law), μαρτυρούμενος (borne witness to) ὑπὸ (by) πάντων (all) τῶν (the) κατοικούντων (dwelling there) Ἰουδαίων (Jews), ¹³ ἐλθὼν (having come) πρὸς (to) ἐμὲ (me) καὶ (and) ἐπιστὰς (having stood by me), εἶπέν (said) μοι (to me), ‘Σαοὺλ (Saul) ἀδελφέ (brother), ἀνάβλεψον (receive your sight).’ κἀγὼ (And I) αὐτῇ (the same) τῇ (-) ὥρᾳ (hour) ἀνέβλεψα (looked up) εἰς (at) αὐτόν (him). ¹⁴ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπεν (he said), ‘Ὁ (The) Θεὸς (God) τῶν (of the) πατέρων (fathers) ἡμῶν (of us) προεχειρίσατό (has appointed) σε (you) γνῶναι (to know) τὸ (the) θέλημα (will) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) ἰδεῖν (to see) τὸν (the) Δίκαιον (Righteous One), καὶ (and) ἀκοῦσαι (to hear) φωνὴν (the voice) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

¹⁵ Ἐγὼ (I) δὲ (then) εἶπα (said), ‘Τίς (Who) εἶ (are You), Κύριε (Lord)?’ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Κύριος (the Lord) εἶπεν (said), ‘Ἐγώ (I) εἰμι (am) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), ὃν (whom) σὺ (you) διώκεις (are persecuting).

⁷ Διὸ (Therefore) προσλαμβάνεσθε (receive) ἀλλήλους (one another) καθὼς (as) καὶ (also) ὁ (-) Χριστὸς (Christ) προσελάβετο (received) ὑμᾶς* (you), εἰς (to) δόξαν (the glory) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God). ⁸ ἔσχατον (Last) δὲ (then) πάντων (of all), ὡσπερεὶ (as) τῷ (the) ἐκτρώματι (untimely birth), ὤφθη (He appeared) κἀμοί (also to me).

⁴⁷ ὁ (The) πρῶτος (first) ἄνθρωπος (man) ἐκ (was from) γῆς (the earth), χοϊκός (made of dust); ὁ (the) δεύτερος (second) ἄνθρωπος (man) ἐξ (from) οὐρανοῦ (heaven).

¹⁴ Μὴ (Not) ἀμέλει (be negligent) τοῦ (of the) ἐν (in) σοὶ (you) χαρίσματος (gift), ὃ (which) ἐδόθη (was given) σοι (to you) διὰ (through) προφητείας (prophecy), μετὰ (with) ἐπιθέσεως (the laying on) τῶν (of the) χειρῶν (hands) τοῦ (of the) πρεσβυτερίου (elderhood).

²² Χεῖρας (Hands) ταχέως (hastily) μηδενὶ (on no one) ἐπιτίθει (lay), μηδὲ (nor) κοινώνει (share) ἁμαρτίαις (in the sins) ἀλλοτρίαις (of others); σεαυτὸν (yourself) ἁγνὸν (pure) τήρει (keep).

⁶ Δι’ (For) ἣν (this) αἰτίαν (reason) ἀναμιμνῄσκω (I remind) σε (you) ἀναζωπυρεῖν (to kindle anew) τὸ (the) χάρισμα (gift) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ὅ (which) ἐστιν (is) ἐν (in) σοὶ (you) διὰ (by) τῆς (the) ἐπιθέσεως (laying on) τῶν (of the) χειρῶν (hands) μου (of me).

¹⁶ οὐκέτι (no longer) ὡς (as) δοῦλον (a slave), ἀλλὰ (but) ὑπὲρ (above) δοῦλον (a slave), ἀδελφὸν (a brother) ἀγαπητόν (beloved), μάλιστα (especially) ἐμοί (to me), πόσῳ (how much) δὲ (however) μᾶλλον (more) σοὶ (to you), καὶ (both) ἐν (in) σαρκὶ (the flesh) καὶ (and) ἐν (in) Κυρίῳ (the Lord).

² βαπτισμῶν (about baptisms) διδαχὴν (instruction), ἐπιθέσεώς (of laying on) τε (then) χειρῶν (of hands), ἀναστάσεώς (of the resurrection) ‹τε› (both) νεκρῶν (of the dead) καὶ (and) κρίματος (of judgment) αἰωνίου (eternal).

²² Τὰς (The) ψυχὰς (souls) ὑμῶν (of you) ἡγνικότες (having purified) ἐν (by) τῇ (-) ὑπακοῇ (obedience) τῆς (to the) ἀληθείας (truth) εἰς (unto) φιλαδελφίαν (brotherly love) ἀνυπόκριτον (sincere), ἐκ (out of) [καθαρᾶς] (purity) καρδίας (of heart), ἀλλήλους (one another) ἀγαπήσατε (love) ἐκτενῶς (fervently). ²³ ἀναγεγεννημένοι (Having been born again), οὐκ (not) ἐκ (of) σπορᾶς (seed) φθαρτῆς (perishable), ἀλλὰ (but) ἀφθάρτου (of imperishable), διὰ (by) λόγου (the word) ζῶντος (living) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) μένοντος (abiding),
