¹ Συνεργοῦντες (Working together) δὲ (now) καὶ (also) παρακαλοῦμεν (we exhort) μὴ (not) εἰς (in) κενὸν (vain) τὴν (the) χάριν (grace) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) δέξασθαι (to receive) ὑμᾶς (you).

³⁷ Ἰερουσαλὴμ (Jerusalem), Ἰερουσαλήμ (Jerusalem), ἡ (-) ἀποκτείνουσα (killing) τοὺς (the) προφήτας (prophets) καὶ (and) λιθοβολοῦσα (stoning) τοὺς (those) ἀπεσταλμένους (having been sent) πρὸς (to) αὐτήν (her)! ποσάκις (How often) ἠθέλησα (would I) ἐπισυναγαγεῖν (have gathered together) τὰ (the) τέκνα (children) σου (of you), ὃν (in which) τρόπον (way) ὄρνις (a hen) ἐπισυνάγει (gathers together) τὰ (the) νοσσία (chicks) αὐτῆς (of her) ὑπὸ (under) τὰς (the) πτέρυγας (wings), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἠθελήσατε (you were willing)!

³ ἱκανὸν (A long) μὲν (indeed) οὖν (therefore) χρόνον (time) διέτριψαν (they stayed), παρρησιαζόμενοι (speaking boldly) ἐπὶ (for) τῷ (the) Κυρίῳ (Lord), τῷ (the One) μαρτυροῦντι (bearing witness) ἐπὶ (to) τῷ (the) λόγῳ (word) τῆς (of the) χάριτος (grace) αὐτοῦ (of Him), διδόντι (granting) σημεῖα (signs) καὶ (and) τέρατα (wonders) γίνεσθαι (to be done) διὰ (through) τῶν (the) χειρῶν (hands) αὐτῶν (of them).

¹ Παρακαλῶ (I exhort) οὖν (therefore) ὑμᾶς (you), ἀδελφοί (brothers), διὰ (through) τῶν (the) οἰκτιρμῶν (compassions) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), παραστῆσαι (to present) τὰ (the) σώματα (bodies) ὑμῶν (of you) θυσίαν (a sacrifice) ζῶσαν (living), ἁγίαν (holy), «τῷ (-) Θεῷ» (to God) εὐάρεστον (well-pleasing), τὴν (which is) λογικὴν (the reasonable) λατρείαν (service) ὑμῶν (of you).

⁹ Θεοῦ (Of God) γάρ (for) ἐσμεν (we are) συνεργοί (fellow workers); Θεοῦ (God’s) γεώργιον (field), Θεοῦ (God’s) οἰκοδομή (building) ἐστε (you are).

¹⁸ Τὰ (-) δὲ (And) πάντα (all things) ἐκ (are of) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), τοῦ (the One) καταλλάξαντος (having reconciled) ἡμᾶς (us) ἑαυτῷ (to Himself) διὰ (through) Χριστοῦ (Christ), καὶ (and) δόντος (having given) ἡμῖν (to us) τὴν (the) διακονίαν (ministry) τῆς (-) καταλλαγῆς (of reconciliation), ¹⁹ ὡς (how) ὅτι (that) Θεὸς (God) ἦν (was) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) κόσμον (the world) καταλλάσσων (reconciling) ἑαυτῷ (to Himself), μὴ (not) λογιζόμενος (reckoning) αὐτοῖς (to them) τὰ (the) παραπτώματα (trespasses) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) θέμενος (having put) ἐν (into) ἡμῖν (us) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τῆς (-) καταλλαγῆς (of reconciliation). ²⁰ Ὑπὲρ (For) Χριστοῦ (Christ) οὖν (therefore) πρεσβεύομεν (we are ambassadors), ὡς (as though) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) παρακαλοῦντος (is beseeching) δι’ (through) ἡμῶν (us). δεόμεθα (We implore) ὑπὲρ (on behalf) Χριστοῦ (of Christ): καταλλάγητε (Be reconciled) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God).

¹ Γνωρίζομεν (We make known) δὲ (now) ὑμῖν (to you), ἀδελφοί (brothers), τὴν (the) χάριν (grace) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τὴν (-) δεδομένην (having been bestowed) ἐν (among) ταῖς (the) ἐκκλησίαις (churches) τῆς (-) Μακεδονίας (of Macedonia), ² ὅτι (that) ἐν (in) πολλῇ (much) δοκιμῇ (proof) θλίψεως (of tribulation), ἡ (the) περισσεία (abundance) τῆς (of the) χαρᾶς (joy) αὐτῶν (of them) καὶ (and) ἡ (-) κατὰ (of) βάθους (deep) πτωχεία (poverty) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐπερίσσευσεν (abounded) εἰς (into) τὸ (the) πλοῦτος (riches) τῆς (the) ἁπλότητος (generosity) αὐτῶν (of them).

¹ Αὐτὸς (Myself) δὲ (now) ἐγὼ (I), Παῦλος (Paul), παρακαλῶ (exhort) ὑμᾶς (you) διὰ (by) τῆς (the) πραΰτητος (meekness) καὶ (and) ἐπιεικείας (gentleness) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), ὃς (who) κατὰ (as to) πρόσωπον (appearance) μὲν (indeed) ταπεινὸς (am humble) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you), ἀπὼν (being absent) δὲ (however) θαρρῶ (am bold) εἰς (toward) ὑμᾶς (you).

²¹ Οὐκ (Not) ἀθετῶ (I do set aside) τὴν (the) χάριν (grace) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God); εἰ (if) γὰρ (for) διὰ (through) νόμου (the Law) δικαιοσύνη (righteousness is), ἄρα (then) Χριστὸς (Christ) δωρεὰν (for naught) ἀπέθανεν (died).”

⁴ τοσαῦτα (So many things) ἐπάθετε (did you suffer) εἰκῇ (in vain), εἴ (if) γε (indeed) καὶ (also) εἰκῇ (in vain)?

¹¹ φοβοῦμαι (I fear) ὑμᾶς (for you), μή (lest) πως (perhaps) εἰκῇ (in vain) κεκοπίακα (I have toiled) εἰς (for) ὑμᾶς (you). ¹² Γίνεσθε (Become) ὡς (as) ἐγώ (I am), ὅτι (because) κἀγὼ (I also have become) ὡς (as) ὑμεῖς (you), ἀδελφοί (brothers), δέομαι (I implore) ὑμῶν (you). οὐδέν (In nothing) με (me) ἠδικήσατε (have You wronged).

¹¹ Ἐπεφάνη (Has appeared) γὰρ (for) ἡ (the) χάρις (grace) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), σωτήριος (bringing salvation) πᾶσιν (to all) ἀνθρώποις (men),

¹⁵ ἐπισκοποῦντες (observing) μή (lest) τις (any) ὑστερῶν (be failing) ἀπὸ (of) τῆς (the) χάριτος (grace) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), μή (lest) τις (any) ῥίζα (root) πικρίας (of bitterness) ἄνω (up) φύουσα (springing) ἐνοχλῇ (should trouble you), καὶ (and) δι’* (by) αὐτῆς* (this), μιανθῶσιν (might be defiled) 〈οἱ〉 (the) πολλοί (many),

²⁵ Βλέπετε (Take heed) μὴ (lest) παραιτήσησθε (you refuse) τὸν (the One) λαλοῦντα (speaking). εἰ (If) γὰρ (for) ἐκεῖνοι (they) οὐκ (not) ἐξέφυγον (escaped), ἐπὶ (on) γῆς (earth) παραιτησάμενοι (having refused) τὸν (the One) χρηματίζοντα (divinely instructing them), πολὺ (much) μᾶλλον (less) ἡμεῖς (we) οἱ (-) τὸν (the One) ἀπ’ (from) οὐρανῶν (the heavens) ἀποστρεφόμενοι (turning away from),

¹⁰ ἕκαστος (each) καθὼς (as) ἔλαβεν (has received) χάρισμα (a gift), εἰς (to) ἑαυτοὺς (each other) αὐτὸ (them) διακονοῦντες (serving), ὡς (as) καλοὶ (good) οἰκονόμοι (stewards) ποικίλης (of the manifold) χάριτος (grace) Θεοῦ (of God):
