⁴⁶ Καὶ (And) φωνήσας (having called out) φωνῇ (in a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said), “Πάτερ (Father), εἰς (into) χεῖράς (the hands) σου (of You) παρατίθεμαι (I commit) τὸ (the) πνεῦμά (Spirit) μου (of Me).” τοῦτο (This) δὲ (now) εἰπὼν (having said), ἐξέπνευσεν (He breathed His last).

⁵⁹ Καὶ (And as) ἐλιθοβόλουν (they were stoning) τὸν (-) Στέφανον (Stephen), ἐπικαλούμενον (he was calling out) καὶ (and) λέγοντα (saying), “Κύριε (Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus), δέξαι (receive) τὸ (the) πνεῦμά (spirit) μου (of me).”

¹¹ καὶ (and) ἐλθὼν (having come) πρὸς (to) ἡμᾶς (us), καὶ (and) ἄρας (having taken) τὴν (the) ζώνην (belt) τοῦ (-) Παύλου (of Paul), δήσας (having bound) ἑαυτοῦ (of himself) τοὺς (the) πόδας (feet) καὶ (and) τὰς (the) χεῖρας (hands), εἶπεν (he said), “Τάδε (Thus) λέγει (says) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τὸ (-) Ἅγιον (Holy), ‘Τὸν (The) ἄνδρα (man) οὗ (of whom) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (the) ζώνη (belt) αὕτη (this), οὕτως (in this way) δήσουσιν (will bind) ἐν (in) Ἰερουσαλὴμ (Jerusalem) οἱ (the) Ἰουδαῖοι (Jews) καὶ (and) παραδώσουσιν (will deliver him) εἰς (into) χεῖρας (the hands) ἐθνῶν (of the Gentiles).’” ¹² ὡς (When) δὲ (then) ἠκούσαμεν (we had heard) ταῦτα (these things), παρεκαλοῦμεν (began begging) ἡμεῖς (we) τε (both) καὶ (and) οἱ (those) ἐντόπιοι (of that place), τοῦ (-) μὴ (not) ἀναβαίνειν (to go up) αὐτὸν (him) εἰς (to) Ἰερουσαλήμ (Jerusalem). ¹³ Τότε (Then) ἀπεκρίθη (answered) ὁ (-) Παῦλος (Paul), “Τί (What) ποιεῖτε (are you doing), κλαίοντες (weeping) καὶ (and) συνθρύπτοντές (breaking) μου (my) τὴν (-) καρδίαν (heart)? ἐγὼ (I) γὰρ (for) οὐ (not) μόνον (only) δεθῆναι (to be bound), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) ἀποθανεῖν (to die) εἰς (at) Ἰερουσαλὴμ (Jerusalem), ἑτοίμως (readiness) ἔχω (have), ὑπὲρ (for) τοῦ (the) ὀνόματος (name) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus).” ¹⁴ μὴ (Not) πειθομένου (being persuaded) δὲ (then) αὐτοῦ (of him), ἡσυχάσαμεν (we were silent), εἰπόντες (having said), “Τοῦ (Of the) Κυρίου (Lord) τὸ (the) θέλημα (will) γινέσθω (be done).”

⁷ τοῖς (to those who) μὲν (indeed) καθ’ (with) ὑπομονὴν (endurance) ἔργου (in work) ἀγαθοῦ (good), δόξαν (glory) καὶ (and) τιμὴν (honor) καὶ (and) ἀφθαρσίαν (immortality) ζητοῦσιν (are seeking), ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal);

¹² Δι’ (For) ἣν (this) αἰτίαν (reason) καὶ (also) ταῦτα (these things) πάσχω (I suffer). ἀλλ’ (But) οὐκ (not) ἐπαισχύνομαι (I am ashamed); οἶδα (I know) γὰρ (for) ᾧ (whom) πεπίστευκα (I have believed), καὶ (and) πέπεισμαι (I am persuaded) ὅτι (that) δυνατός (able) ἐστιν (He is) τὴν (the) παραθήκην (deposit entrusted) μου (of me) φυλάξαι (to guard) εἰς (for) ἐκείνην (that) τὴν (-) ἡμέραν (day).

¹⁷ κρεῖττον (It is better) γὰρ (for) ἀγαθοποιοῦντας (doing good) εἰ (if) θέλοι (wills it) τὸ (the) θέλημα (will) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), πάσχειν (to suffer), ἢ (than) κακοποιοῦντας (doing evil),

¹² Ἀγαπητοί (Beloved), μὴ (not) ξενίζεσθε (be surprised at) τῇ (the) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you) πυρώσει (fire) πρὸς (for) πειρασμὸν (a trial) ὑμῖν (to you) γινομένῃ (taking place), ὡς (as if) ξένου (a strange thing) ὑμῖν (to you) συμβαίνοντος (were happening). ¹³ ἀλλὰ (But) καθὸ (as) κοινωνεῖτε (you have shared) τοῖς (in the) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ) παθήμασιν (sufferings), χαίρετε (rejoice), ἵνα (so that) καὶ (also) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἀποκαλύψει (revelation) τῆς (of the) δόξης (glory) αὐτοῦ (of Him), χαρῆτε (you may rejoice) ἀγαλλιώμενοι (exulting). ¹⁴ Εἰ (If) ὀνειδίζεσθε (you are insulted) ἐν (in) ὀνόματι (the name) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), μακάριοι (you are blessed), ὅτι (because) τὸ (the) τῆς (-) δόξης (of glory) καὶ (and) τὸ (-) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) ἐφ’ (upon) ὑμᾶς (you) ἀναπαύεται (rests). ¹⁵ μὴ (Not) γάρ (for) τις (any) ὑμῶν (of you) πασχέτω (let suffer) ὡς (as) φονεὺς (a murderer), ἢ (or) κλέπτης (a thief), ἢ (or) κακοποιὸς (an evildoer), ἢ (or) ὡς (as) ἀλλοτριεπίσκοπος (a troublesome meddler); ¹⁶ εἰ (if) δὲ (however) ὡς (as) Χριστιανός (a Christian), μὴ (not) αἰσχυνέσθω (let him be ashamed); δοξαζέτω (let him glorify) δὲ (however) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ὀνόματι (name) τούτῳ (this).

¹⁰ πεσοῦνται (will fall) οἱ (the) εἴκοσι (twenty) τέσσαρες (four) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (upon) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) προσκυνήσουσιν (they will worship) τῷ (the One) ζῶντι (living) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages), καὶ (and) βαλοῦσιν (they will cast) τοὺς (the) στεφάνους (crowns) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), λέγοντες (saying): ¹¹ “Ἄξιος (Worthy) εἶ (are You), ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) καὶ (and) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἡμῶν (of us), λαβεῖν (to receive) τὴν (-) δόξαν (glory) καὶ (and) τὴν (-) τιμὴν (honor) καὶ (and) τὴν (-) δύναμιν (power); ὅτι (for) σὺ (You) ἔκτισας (created) τὰ (-) πάντα (all things), καὶ (and) διὰ (because of) τὸ (the) θέλημά (will) σου (of You) ἦσαν (they existed), καὶ (and) ἐκτίσθησαν (were created).”

⁹ καὶ (And) ᾄδουσιν (they are singing) ᾠδὴν (a song) καινὴν (new), λέγοντες (saying), “Ἄξιος (Worthy) εἶ (are You) λαβεῖν (to take) τὸ (the) βιβλίον (scroll), καὶ (and) ἀνοῖξαι (to open) τὰς (the) σφραγῖδας (seals) αὐτοῦ (of it), ὅτι (because) ἐσφάγης (You were slain), καὶ (and) ἠγόρασας (You purchased) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God) ἐν (by) τῷ (the) αἵματί (blood) σου (of You), ἐκ (out of) πάσης (every) φυλῆς (tribe) καὶ (and) γλώσσης (tongue) καὶ (and) λαοῦ (people) καὶ (and) ἔθνους (nation), ¹⁰ καὶ (and) ἐποίησας (You have made) αὐτοὺς (them) τῷ (to the) Θεῷ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), βασιλείαν (a kingdom) καὶ (and) ἱερεῖς (priests); καὶ (and) βασιλεύσουσιν (they will reign) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth).” ¹¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἤκουσα (I heard) φωνὴν (the voice) ἀγγέλων (of angels) πολλῶν (many) κύκλῳ (around) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) τῶν (of the) ζῴων (living creatures), καὶ (and) τῶν (of the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders); καὶ (and) ἦν (was) ὁ (the) ἀριθμὸς (number) αὐτῶν (of them) μυριάδες (myriads) μυριάδων (of myriads) καὶ (and) χιλιάδες (thousands) χιλιάδων (of thousands), ¹² λέγοντες (saying) φωνῇ (in a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud): “Ἄξιόν* (Worthy) ἐστιν (is) τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb) τὸ (-) ἐσφαγμένον (having been slain), λαβεῖν (to receive) τὴν (the) δύναμιν (power) καὶ (and) πλοῦτον (riches) καὶ (and) σοφίαν (wisdom) καὶ (and) ἰσχὺν (strength) καὶ (and) τιμὴν (honor) καὶ (and) δόξαν (glory) καὶ (and) εὐλογίαν (blessing)!” ¹³ Καὶ (And) πᾶν (every) κτίσμα (creature) ὃ (which) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) ὑποκάτω (under) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) θαλάσσης (sea) 〈ἐστίν〉 (is), καὶ (and) τὰ (-) ἐν (in) αὐτοῖς (them) πάντα (everything), ἤκουσα (I heard) λέγοντας (saying): “Τῷ (To the One) καθημένῳ (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne), καὶ (and) τῷ (to the) Ἀρνίῳ (Lamb), ἡ (-) εὐλογία (blessing) καὶ (and) ἡ (-) τιμὴ (honor) καὶ (and) ἡ (-) δόξα (glory) καὶ (and) τὸ (-) κράτος (might) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages).” ¹⁴ Καὶ (And) τὰ (the) τέσσαρα (four) ζῷα (living creatures) ἔλεγον (kept saying), “Ἀμήν (Amen).” καὶ (And) οἱ (the) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) ἔπεσαν (fell down) καὶ (and) προσεκύνησαν (worshiped).
