⁷ Because the mind of the flesh is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can it be.

¹⁹ Whoever, there fore, shall make void one of the least of these commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever shall do and teach, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

³⁴ Generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

⁷ The world can not hate you; but me it hates, because I testify of it, that its works are evil.

²³ He that hates me, hates my Father also. ²⁴ If I had not done among them the works that no other man has done, they would have had no sin; but now they have both seen, and hated both me and my Father.

²⁸ And as they refused to acknowledge God, God delivered them up to an undiscerning mind, to do detestable things;

³⁰ whisperers, evil-speakers, haters of God, insolent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents;

³¹ Do we, then, make law void through the faith? It can not be. On the other hand, we establish law.

¹⁰ For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.

⁷ What, then, shall we say? Is the law sin? It can not be. Indeed, I had not known sin, except through law. For I had not known evil desire, unless the law had said: You shall not have any evil desire. ⁸ But sin, taking occasion through the commandment, rendered active within me every evil desire. For without the law, sin was dead. ⁹ Indeed, I was alive with out the law, once; but when the commandment came, sin be came alive, and I died: ¹⁰ and the commandment, which was given for life, I found to be for death. ¹¹ For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. ¹² Therefore, the law is holy, and the commandment, holy and just and good. ¹³ Has, then, that which is good become death to me? It can not be. But sin, that it, might appear sin, was causing death to me through that which is good, in order that sin, through the commandment, might become exceedingly sinful. ¹⁴ For we know that the law is spiritual; but I am carnal, sold into bondage to sin.

²² For, in the inward man, I delight in the law of God:

⁴ that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

¹⁴ But an animal man receives not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he can not know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

²¹ to those who are without law, as without law, (not being myself without law to God, but under law to Christ,) that I might gain those who are without law:

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ meekness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

¹⁸ darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart; ¹⁹ who, being past feeling, have given themselves up to licentiousness, that they may work all manner of uncleanness with greediness.

²¹ And you, who were formerly alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now has he reconciled

⁴ traitors, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God,

¹⁰ For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel, after those days, says the Lord; putting my laws into their understanding, I will also write them upon their hearts; and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people;

⁴ Adulterers and adulteresses, know you not that the friend ship of the world is enmity to God? Whoever, therefore, will be a friend of the world, is an enemy of God.

¹⁴ having eyes that are full of the adulteress, and that can not cease from sin, deceiving unstable souls, having a heart exercised in covetousness, accursed children, ¹⁵ Love not the world, nor the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world, the desire of the flesh, and the desire of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
