¹⁰ And then will many be ensnared, and they will deliver one another up, and hate one another;

²¹ Brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father the child; and children will rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

³⁵ For I have come to set a man at variance with his father, and the daughter with her mother, and the daughter-in-law with her mother-in-law: ³⁶ and a man's enemies shall be those of his own household.

⁶ and blessed is he that shall find in me no cause of offense.

²¹ Yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while; and when affliction or persecution arises on account of the word, he immediately takes offense.

⁵⁷ And they found in him occasion for offense. But Jesus said to them: A prophet is not without honor, unless it be in his own country and in his own house.

²¹ And as they were eating, he said: Verily I say to you, One of you will deliver me up. ²² And they were very sad, and began each one of them to say to him: Lord, is it I? ²³ He answered and said: He that dips his hand with me in the dish, will deliver me up. ²⁴ The Son of man goes, as it is written of him; but alas for that man by whom the Son of man is delivered up! It would have been good for that man, if he had not been born.

³¹ Then Jesus said to them: All of you will he offended at me this night; for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered. ³² But after I have risen, I will go before you into Galilee. ³³ Peter answered and said to him: Though all shall be offended at thee, yet will I never be offended. ³⁴ Jesus said to him: Verily I say to you, This night, before the cock crows, you will deny me three times.
