⁴³ And Jesus said to him: Verily I say to you, to-day you shall be with me in paradise.

¹⁵ Is it not allowed me to do what I will with my own? Or, is your eye envious, because I am good? ¹⁶ So the last shall be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few are chosen.

⁴ What man of you that has a hundred sheep, and loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the desert, and go after that which is lost, till he find it? ⁵ And when he finds it, he puts it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

²⁰ And he arose, and came to his father. And while he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion on him, and ran and fell upon his neck, and kissed him. ²¹ But his son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son. ²² But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it- on him, and put a ring on his hand, and sandals on his feet. ²³ And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; ²⁴ for this my son was dead, and is alive again: he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

¹⁰ For the Son of man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.

³ And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you with myself, that where I am, you may be also.

²⁴ Father, I wish that they also, whom thou hast given me, may be with me where I am, that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me; for thou didst love me before the foundation of the world.

²⁰ But, besides the first offense, law was introduced, in order that offenses might abound: but where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: ²¹ that as sin has reigned, ending in death, so might grace reign by justification, ending in life eternal, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

⁸ we are confident, indeed, and would be pleased rather to depart from the body, and to dwell with the Lord.

³ I also know that such a man (whether in the body, or out of the body, I know not: God knows,) ⁴ was caught away to Paradise, and heard words not to be spoken, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

²³ I am in a strait between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better:

¹⁵ Assuredly true and worthy of all acceptation is this saying: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. ¹⁶ But for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all long-suffering, for an example to those who might afterward believe on him in order to life eternal.

²⁵ Wherefore, he is able also to save through all time those who come to God by him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.

⁷ He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches: To him that overcomes, I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.
