⁴⁵ and they sold their possessions and goods, and distributed them to all, as each had need.

²¹ Jesus said to him: If you would be perfect, go, sell your possessions, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.

³³ Sell what you have, and be charitable. Make for yourselves purses that do not become old, an unfailing treasure in the heavens, where no thief comes near, and no moth corrupts. ³⁴ For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

⁹ And I say to you, Make for yourselves friends with the unrighteous riches, that when you fail, you may be received into the everlasting habitations.

²² When Jesus heard this, he said to him: One thing you yet lack; sell all that you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

⁸ And Zacchaeus stood, and said to the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken from any one by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.

³⁴ Nor, indeed, was there any needy person among them; for as many as were owners of lands or houses, sold them, and brought the prices of what had been sold,

²⁹ And every one of the disciples determined, as he had the means, to send relief to the brethren that dwelt in Judea;

¹ For of the relief which is for the saints, it is needless for me to write to you.

⁹ as it is written: He has scattered abroad; he has given to the poor; his righteousness remains forever.

¹⁸ that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, liberal, ¹⁹ treasuring up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

¹⁴ What profit is there, my brethren, if any one say he has faith, and have not works? Can faith save him? ¹⁵ If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, ¹⁶ and any of you say to them, Go in peace, be warmed and be filled, and yet give them not the things that are needful for the body, what does this profit them?

¹ Come, now, you rich men, weep and lament for your miseries that are coming upon you. ² Your wealth is corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten: ³ your gold and your silver are covered with rust; and their rust will be a testimony against you, and will eat your flesh as fire. You have heaped up treasures in the last days. ⁴ Behold, the hire of the laborers who have reaped your fields, which has been unjustly withheld by you, cries out: and the cries of those who have reaped, have entered into the ears of the Lord of hosts. ⁵ You have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; you have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.

¹⁷ Whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother have need, and shuts his heart against him, how dwells the love of God in him?
