³⁹ and by him, every one that believes is justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.

²⁵ And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up to tempt him, and said: Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

²⁸ He said to him: You have answered correctly; do this, and you shall live.

¹⁴ I say to you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For every one that exalts himself, shall be humbled; but he that humbles himself, shall be exalted.

¹⁷ for the law was given through Moses, but the grace and the truth came through Jesus Christ.

²⁴ Verily, verily I say to you, He that hears my word, and believes on him that sent me, has eternal life, and comes not into condemnation, but has passed from death into life.

⁴³ To him all the prophets bear testimony, that whoever believes on him shall receive remission of sins through his name.

¹⁹ Now we know that what the law says, it speaks- to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world become guilty before God.

²⁴ yet may be justified freely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus; ²⁵ whom God has set forth as a propitiatory sacrifice, through faith in his blood, in order to manifest his righteousness, in passing by the sins that were formerly committed through the forbearance of God; ²⁶ in order to manifest his righteousness at the present time, that he might be just, while he justifies him who believes in Jesus. ²⁷ Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No; but by the law of faith. ²⁸ For we conclude that a man is justified by faith, without deeds of law. ²⁹ Is he the God of the Jews only? Is he not also the God of the Gen tiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: ³⁰ since there is one God, who will justify the circumcision by faith, and the uncircumcision through the faith.

⁵ but to him that works not, but believes on him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. ⁶ Even as David also speaks of the blessedness of the man to whom God counts righteousness without works, saying: ⁷ Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins. are covered. ⁸ Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not charge sin.

¹⁵ for the law inflicts punishment; for where no law is, there is no transgression.

²⁴ but for our sakes also, to whom it shall be counted, if we believe on him that raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,

¹ Therefore, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

⁹ much more, then, since we are now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from the wrath through him.

²⁰ But, besides the first offense, law was introduced, in order that offenses might abound: but where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

⁹ Indeed, I was alive with out the law, once; but when the commandment came, sin be came alive, and I died: ¹⁰ and the commandment, which was given for life, I found to be for death. ¹¹ For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.

¹ There is now, therefore, no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.

³ For what the law could not do, because it was weak through the flesh, God has done, who, sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for a sin-offering, condemned sin in the flesh,

³⁰ and those whom he predestinated he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. ³¹ What, then, shall we say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? ³² He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how will he not with him also freely give us all things? ³³ "Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifies. ³⁴ Who is he that condemns? It is Christ that died: rather, indeed, that has risen, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.

³¹ but Israel, who sought after a law of justification, has not attained to a law of justification.

⁴ For Christ is the end of the law for justification, to every one that believes.

¹⁰ For with the heart we believe, in order to justification; and with the mouth we make confession, it order to salvation.

¹¹ And such were some of you: but you are washed, but you are sanctified, but you are justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

¹⁶ knowing that a man is not justified by works of law, but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed on Christ Jesus, that we may be justified by faith in Christ, and not by works of law: because, by works of law no flesh shall be justified.

¹⁹ For, through law, I have died to law, that I might live to God.

⁸ For the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached beforehand the gospel to Abraham, saying: In you shall all the nations be blessed.

¹⁰ For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that does not continue in all things written in the book of the law to do them. ¹¹ But that no one is justified by law in the sight of God, is evident: for the just by faith shall live. ¹² The law, indeed, is not of faith; but he that does these things shall live by them.

²¹ Is the law, then, against the promises of God? It can not be. For if a law had been given which could have given life, surely righteousness would have been by law. ²² But the scripture has shut up all under sin, that the promise by faith in Christ Jesus may be given to those who believe. ²³ But before the faith came, we were kept under law, being shut up to the faith which was to be revealed. ²⁴ So, then, the law was our pedagogue that led us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. ²⁵ But since the faith has come, we are no longer under a pedagogue:

³ I testify indeed again to every man that is circumcised, that he is bound to do the whole law.

⁶ as it respects zeal, persecuting the church; as it respects righteousness which is by law, blameless. ⁷ But the things which were gain to me, these I counted loss for Christ. ⁸ Yes, verily, I also count all things to be loss, for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, on account of whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them to be refuse, that I may gain Christ, ⁹ and be found in him, not having my own righteousness which was by law, but the righteousness which is by faith in Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith,

¹⁹ (for the law made no perfect expiation), and the introduction of a better hope, by which we draw near to God.

⁹ which, as a symbol, remains to the present time, in which are offered both gifts and sacrifices that can not make perfect, as it respects the conscience, him that does the service; ¹⁰ since he relies only on meats and drinks and various immersions, ordinances in deed of the flesh, which were imposed till the time of reformation.

⁴ For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

¹¹ And every priest stands daily ministering, and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
