¹ A Prayer of Moses the man of God.

Lord, thou hast been our dwelling-place
In all generations. ² Before the mountains were brought forth,
Or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world,
Even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. ³ Thou turnest man to destruction,
And sayest, Return, ye children of men. ⁴ For a thousand years in thy sight
Are but as yesterday when it is past,
And as a watch in the night. ⁵ Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep:
In the morning they are like grass which groweth up. ⁶ In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up;
In the evening it is cut down, and withereth. ⁷ For we are consumed in thine anger,
And in thy wrath are we troubled. ⁸ Thou hast set our iniquities before thee,
Our secret sins in the light of thy countenance. ⁹ For all our days are passed away in thy wrath:
We bring our years to an end as a sigh. ¹⁰ The days of our years are threescore years and ten,
Or even by reason of strength fourscore years;
Yet is their pride but labor and sorrow;
For it is soon gone, and we fly away. ¹¹ Who knoweth the power of thine anger,
And thy wrath according to the fear that is due unto thee? ¹² So teach us to number our days,
That we may get us a heart of wisdom. ¹³ Return, O Jehovah; how long?
And let it repent thee concerning thy servants. ¹⁴ Oh satisfy us in the morning with thy lovingkindness,
That we may rejoice and be glad all our days. ¹⁵ Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us,
And the years wherein we have seen evil. ¹⁶ Let thy work appear unto thy servants,
And thy glory upon their children. ¹⁷ And let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us;
And establish thou the work of our hands upon us;
Yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.

¹⁴ And he said, My presence shall go [with thee], and I will give thee rest. ¹⁵ And he said unto him, If thy presence go not [with me], carry us not up hence. ¹⁶ For wherein now shall it be known that I have found favor in thy sight, I and thy people? is it not in that thou goest with us, so that we are separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth?
¹⁷ And Jehovah said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken; for thou hast found favor in my sight, and I know thee by name. ¹⁸ And he said, Show me, I pray thee, thy glory. ¹⁹ And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and will proclaim the name of Jehovah before thee; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.

¹ And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, ² Send thou men, that they may spy out the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a prince among them. ³ And Moses sent them from the wilderness of Paran according to the commandment of Jehovah: all of them men who were heads of the children of Israel. ⁴ And these were their names: Of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur. ⁵ Of the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori. ⁶ Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh. ⁷ Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph. ⁸ Of the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Nun. ⁹ Of the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu. ¹⁰ Of the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the son of Sodi. ¹¹ Of the tribe of Joseph, [namely], of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi. ¹² Of the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli. ¹³ Of the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael. ¹⁴ Of the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the son of Vophsi.

¹ And this is the blessing, wherewith Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death.

²⁷ The eternal God is [thy] dwelling-place,
And underneath are the everlasting arms.
And he thrust out the enemy from before thee,
And said, Destroy.

¹ And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of Jehovah unto Beth-el: and Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn incense.

³ Be thou to me a rock of habitation, whereunto I may continually resort:
Thou hast given commandment to save me;
For thou art my rock and my fortress.

I will sing of the lovingkindness of Jehovah for ever:
With my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.

¹ He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

⁹ For thou, O Jehovah, art my refuge!
Thou hast made the Most High thy habitation;

¹⁴ And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

¹⁶ Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Whereas I have removed them far off among the nations, and whereas I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them a sanctuary for a little while in the countries where they are come.

⁵⁶ He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood abideth in me, and I in him.

¹¹ But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

¹⁶ And we know and have believed the love which God hath in us. God is love; and he that abideth in love abideth in God, and God abideth in him.

¹ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

⁷ Art thou the first man that was born?
Or wast thou brought forth before the hills?

⁴ Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Declare, if thou hast understanding. ⁵ Who determined the measures thereof, if thou knowest?
Or who stretched the line upon it? ⁶ Whereupon were the foundations thereof fastened?
Or who laid the corner-stone thereof,

²⁸ Hath the rain a father?
Or who hath begotten the drops of dew? ²⁹ Out of whose womb came the ice?
And the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?

⁹ For he spake, and it was done;
He commanded, and it stood fast.

² Thy throne is established of old:
Thou art from everlasting.

²⁴ I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days:
Thy years are throughout all generations. ²⁵ Of old didst thou lay the foundation of the earth;
And the heavens are the work of thy hands. ²⁶ They shall perish, but thou shalt endure;
Yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment;
As a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed: ²⁷ But thou art the same,
And thy years shall have no end.

¹⁷ But the lovingkindness of Jehovah is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him,
And his righteousness unto children's children;

⁶ Who made heaven and earth,
The sea, and all that in them is;
Who keepeth truth for ever;

²⁵ Before the mountains were settled,
Before the hills was I brought forth; ²⁶ While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields,
Nor the beginning of the dust of the world.

⁶ Thus saith Jehovah, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, Jehovah of hosts: I am the first, and I am the last; and besides me there is no God.

²² Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is none else.

¹⁵ For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite.

² But thou, Beth-lehem Ephrathah, which art little to be among the thousands of Judah, out of thee shall one come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.

¹² Art not thou from everlasting, O Jehovah my God, my Holy One? we shall not die. O Jehovah, thou hast ordained him for judgment; and thou, O Rock, hast established him for correction.

¹⁵ which in its own times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; ¹⁶ who only hath immortality, dwelling in light unapproachable; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom [be] honor and power eternal. Amen.

¹⁰ And,
Thou, Lord, in the beginning didst lay the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the works of thy hands: ¹¹ They shall perish; but thou continuest:
And they all shall wax old as doth a garment; ¹² And as a mantle shalt thou roll them up,
As a garment, and they shall be changed:
But thou art the same,
And thy years shall not fail.

⁸ Jesus Christ [is] the same yesterday and to-day, (yea) and for ever.

⁸ I am the Alpha and the Omega, saith the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.

¹⁹ in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

⁶ And it repented Jehovah that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. ⁷ And Jehovah said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the ground; both man, and beast, and creeping things, and birds of the heavens; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

³⁵ I, Jehovah, have spoken, surely this will I do unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.

¹⁰ In whose hand is the soul of every living thing,
And the breath of all mankind?

¹⁴ If he set his heart upon himself,
[If] he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath; ¹⁵ All flesh shall perish together,
And man shall turn again unto dust.

²⁹ Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled;
Thou takest away their breath, they die,
And return to their dust.

⁴ His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth;
In that very day his thoughts perish.

⁷ and the dust returneth to the earth as it was, and the spirit returneth unto God who gave it.

²⁴ And it came to pass in the morning watch, that Jehovah looked forth upon the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of cloud, and discomfited the host of the Egyptians.

¹⁹ So Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outermost part of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch, when they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake in pieces the pitchers that were in their hands.

⁵ Behold, thou hast made my days [as] handbreadths;
And my life-time is as nothing before thee:
Surely every man at his best estate is altogether vanity. [Selah

²⁵ And in the fourth watch of the night he came unto them, walking upon the sea.

⁴³ But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken through.

³⁸ And if he shall come in the second watch, and if in the third, and find [them] so, blessed are those [servants].

⁸ But forget not this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

²⁶ They are passed away as the swift ships;
As the eagle that swoopeth on the prey.

⁸ He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found:
Yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.

¹⁶ Who were snatched away before their time,
Whose foundation was poured out as a stream,

²⁰ Terrors overtake him like waters;
A tempest stealeth him away in the night. ²¹ The east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth;
And it sweepeth him out of his place.

²⁰ As a dream when one awaketh,
So, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou wilt despise their image.

¹⁵ As for man, his days are as grass;
As a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. ¹⁶ For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone;
And the place thereof shall know it no more.

⁷ now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the River, strong and many, [even] the king of Assyria and all his glory: and it shall come up over all its channels, and go over all its banks; ⁸ and it shall sweep onward into Judah; it shall overflow and pass through; it shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of its wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.

⁷ And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even all that fight against her and her stronghold, and that distress her, shall be as a dream, a vision of the night. ⁸ And it shall be as when a hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.

⁶ The voice of one saying, Cry. And one said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field.

⁷ Who is this that riseth up like the Nile, whose waters toss themselves like the rivers? ⁸ Egypt riseth up like the Nile, and his waters toss themselves like the rivers: and he saith, I will rise up, I will cover the earth; I will destroy cities and the inhabitants thereof.

¹⁰ and the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. ¹¹ For the sun ariseth with the scorching wind, and withereth the grass; and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his goings.

²⁴ For,
All flesh is as grass,
And all the glory thereof as the flower of grass.
The grass withereth, and the flower falleth:

² He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down:
He fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.

⁷ When the wicked spring as the grass,
And when all the workers of iniquity do flourish;
It is that they shall be destroyed for ever.

³⁰ But if God doth so clothe the grass of the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, [shall he] not much more [clothe] you, O ye of little faith?

¹¹ For the sun ariseth with the scorching wind, and withereth the grass; and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his goings.

¹² And the children of Israel spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, we perish, we are undone, we are all undone. ¹³ Every one that cometh near, that cometh near unto the tabernacle of Jehovah, dieth: shall we perish all of us?

¹⁴ And the days in which we came from Kadesh-barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, were thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the midst of the camp, as Jehovah sware unto them. ¹⁵ Moreover the hand of Jehovah was against them, to destroy them from the midst of the camp, until they were consumed.
¹⁶ So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,

¹¹ When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity,
Thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth:
Surely every man is vanity. [Selah

¹³ Consume them in wrath, consume them, so that they shall be no more:
And let them know that God ruleth in Jacob,
Unto the ends of the earth. [Selah

⁹ For all our days are passed away in thy wrath:
We bring our years to an end as a sigh.

¹¹ Who knoweth the power of thine anger,
And thy wrath according to the fear that is due unto thee?

⁸ but unto them that are factious, and obey not the truth, but obey unrighteousness, [shall be] wrath and indignation, ⁹ tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that worketh evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Greek;

¹⁰ Wherefore I was displeased with this generation,
And said, They do always err in their heart:
But they did not know my ways; ¹¹ As I sware in my wrath,
They shall not enter into my rest.

¹⁷ And with whom was he displeased forty years? was it not with them that sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?

²¹ For his eyes are upon the ways of a man,
And he seeth all his goings.

¹¹ He saith in his heart, God hath forgotten;
He hideth his face; he will never see it.

¹² Who can discern [his] errors?
Clear thou me from hidden [faults].

²¹ These things hast thou done, and I kept silence;
Thou thoughtest that I was altogether such a one as thyself:
[But] I will reprove thee, and set [them] in order before thine eyes.

¹⁶ It is burned with fire, it is cut down:
They perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.

O Jehovah, thou hast searched me, and known [me]. ² Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising;
Thou understandest my thought afar off. ³ Thou searchest out my path and my lying down,
And art acquainted with all my ways. ⁴ For there is not a word in my tongue,
But, lo, O Jehovah, thou knowest it altogether.

²¹ For the ways of man are before the eyes of Jehovah;
And he maketh level all his paths.

¹⁴ For God will bring every work into judgment, with every hidden thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

¹³ And Jehovah saith, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein, ¹⁴ but have walked after the stubbornness of their own heart, and after the Baalim, which their fathers taught them; ¹⁵ therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink. ¹⁶ I will scatter them also among the nations, whom neither they nor their fathers have known; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them.

¹⁷ For mine eyes are upon all their ways; they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity concealed from mine eyes.

²⁴ Can any hide himself in secret places so that I shall not see him? saith Jehovah. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith Jehovah.

¹² Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in his chambers of imagery? for they say, Jehovah seeth us not; Jehovah hath forsaken the land.

¹ In the mean time, when the many thousands of the multitude were gathered together, insomuch that they trod one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, { Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. ² But there is nothing covered up, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

¹⁶ in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men, according to my gospel, by Jesus Christ.

⁵ Wherefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall each man have his praise from God.

¹² For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart. ¹³ And there is no creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

²⁰ because if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

¹² And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne; and books were opened: and another book was opened, which is [the book] of life: and the dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works.

³³ Therefore their days did he consume in vanity,
And their years in terror.

⁴ For a thousand years in thy sight
Are but as yesterday when it is past,
And as a watch in the night.

⁹ And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are a hundred and thirty years: few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.

⁷ And Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

³⁵ I am this day fourscore years old: can I discern between good and bad? can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? wherefore then should thy servant be yet a burden unto my lord the king?

¹ Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat.

¹⁰ But man dieth, and is laid low:
Yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?

²⁴ They are exalted; yet a little while, and they are gone;
Yea, they are brought low, they are taken out of the way as all others,
And are cut off as the tops of the ears of grain.

³⁹ And he remembered that they were but flesh,
A wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.

² before the sun, and the light, and the moon, and the stars, are darkened, and the clouds return after the rain; ³ in the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows shall be darkened, ⁴ and the doors shall be shut in the street; when the sound of the grinding is low, and one shall rise up at the voice of a bird, and all the daughters of music shall be brought low; ⁵ yea, they shall be afraid of [that which is] high, and terrors [shall be] in the way; and the almond-tree shall blossom, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail; because man goeth to his everlasting home, and the mourners go about the streets: ⁶ before the silver cord is loosed, or the golden bowl is broken, or the pitcher is broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern, ⁷ and the dust returneth to the earth as it was, and the spirit returneth unto God who gave it.

¹² My dwelling is removed, and is carried away from me as a shepherd's tent:
I have rolled up, like a weaver, my life; he will cut me off from the loom:
From day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.

²⁰ But God said unto him, Thou foolish one, this night is thy soul required of thee; and the things which thou hast prepared, whose shall they be?

¹⁴ whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. What is your life? For ye are a vapor that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

¹⁸ And if ye will not yet for these things hearken unto me, then I will chastise you seven times more for your sins.

²¹ And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me, I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.

²⁴ then will I also walk contrary unto you; and I will smite you, even I, seven times for your sins.

²⁸ then I will walk contrary unto you in wrath; and I also will chastise you seven times for your sins.

⁵⁹ then Jehovah will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.

²⁰ Jehovah will not pardon him, but then the anger of Jehovah and his jealousy will smoke against that man, and all the curse that is written in this book shall lie upon him, and Jehovah will blot out his name from under heaven. ²¹ And Jehovah will set him apart unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that is written in this book of the law.
²² And the generation to come, your children that shall rise up after you, and the foreigner that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses wherewith Jehovah hath made it sick; ²³ [and that] the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, [and] a burning, [that] it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which Jehovah overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath: ²⁴ even all the nations shall say, Wherefore hath Jehovah done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger? ²⁵ Then men shall say, Because they forsook the covenant of Jehovah, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, ²⁶ and went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods that they knew not, and that he had not given unto them: ²⁷ therefore the anger of Jehovah was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curse that is written in this book; ²⁸ and Jehovah rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as at this day. ²⁹ The secret things belong unto Jehovah our God; but the things that are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

⁷ Thou, even thou, art to be feared;
And who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?

¹⁴ The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling hath seized the godless ones: Who among us can dwell with the devouring fire? who among us can dwell with everlasting burnings?

⁶ Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken asunder by him.

⁵ But I will warn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, who after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

¹¹ Knowing therefore the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are made manifest unto God; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences.

¹⁷ for the great day of their wrath is come; and who is able to stand?

²⁹ Oh that they were wise, that they understood this,
That they would consider their latter end!

²⁸ And unto man he said,
Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom;
And to depart from evil is understanding.

⁴ Jehovah, make me to know mine end,
And the measure of my days, what it is;
Let me know how frail I am.

² So as to incline thine ear unto wisdom,
And apply thy heart to understanding; ³ Yea, if thou cry after discernment,
And lift up thy voice for understanding; ⁴ If thou seek her as silver,
And search for her as for hid treasures: ⁵ Then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah,
And find the knowledge of God. ⁶ For Jehovah giveth wisdom;
Out of his mouth [cometh] knowledge and understanding:

¹³ Happy is the man that findeth wisdom,
And the man that getteth understanding. ¹⁴ For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver,
And the profit thereof than fine gold. ¹⁵ She is more precious than rubies:
And none of the things thou canst desire are to be compared unto her. ¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand;
In her left hand are riches and honor. ¹⁷ Her ways are ways of pleasantness,
And all her paths are peace. ¹⁸ She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her:
And happy is every one that retaineth her.

⁵ Get wisdom, get understanding;
Forget not, neither decline from the words of my mouth;

⁷ Wisdom [is] the principal thing; [therefore] get wisdom;
Yea, with all thy getting get understanding.

¹ My son, keep my words,
And lay up my commandments with thee. ² Keep my commandments and live;
And my law as the apple of thine eye. ³ Bind them upon thy fingers;
Write them upon the tablet of thy heart. ⁴ Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister;
And call understanding [thy] kinswoman:

³² Now therefore, [my] sons, hearken unto me;
For blessed are they that keep my ways. ³³ Hear instruction, and be wise,
And refuse it not. ³⁴ Blessed is the man that heareth me,
Watching daily at my gates,

And shall obtain favor of Jehovah. ³⁶ But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul:
All they that hate me love death.

¹⁶ How much better is it to get wisdom than gold!
Yea, to get understanding is rather to be chosen than silver.

¹ He that separateth himself seeketh [his own] desire,
And rageth against all sound wisdom. ² A fool hath no delight in understanding,
But only that his heart may reveal itself.

¹⁷ Incline thine ear, and hear the words of the wise,
And apply thy heart unto my knowledge.

¹² Apply thy heart unto instruction,
And thine ears to the words of knowledge.

²³ Buy the truth, and sell it not;
[Yea], wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

¹⁰ Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do [it] with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Sheol, whither thou goest.

³⁵ Let your loins be girded about, and your lamps burning; ³⁶ and be ye yourselves like unto men looking for their lord, when he shall return from the marriage feast; that, when he cometh and knocketh, they may straightway open unto him. ³⁷ Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them sit down to meat, and shall come and serve them. ³⁸ And if he shall come in the second watch, and if in the third, and find [them] so, blessed are those [servants]. ³⁹ But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would have watched, and not have left his house to be broken through. ⁴⁰ Be ye also ready: for in an hour that ye think not the Son of man cometh.}

⁴ We must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

¹⁶ redeeming the time, because the days are evil. ¹⁷ Wherefore be ye not foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

¹² Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, saying, For evil did he bring them forth, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.

¹⁴ And Jehovah repented of the evil which he said he would do unto his people.

³⁶ For Jehovah will judge his people,
And repent himself for his servants;
When he seeth that [their] power is gone,
And there is none [remaining], shut up or left at large.

³ My soul also is sore troubled:
And thou, O Jehovah, how long? ⁴ Return, O Jehovah, deliver my soul:
Save me for thy lovingkindness' sake.

¹⁰ How long, O God, shall the adversary reproach?
Shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?

¹⁴ Turn again, we beseech thee, O God of hosts:
Look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine,

⁴⁶ How long, O Jehovah? wilt thou hide thyself for ever?
[How long] shall thy wrath burn like fire?

⁴⁵ And he remembered for them his covenant,
And repented according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

¹⁴ For Jehovah will judge his people,
And repent himself concerning his servants.

¹⁵ And it shall come to pass, after that I have plucked them up, I will return and have compassion on them; and I will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land.

⁸ How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? [how] shall I cast thee off, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? [how] shall I set thee as Zeboiim? my heart is turned within me, my compassions are kindled together.

¹³ and rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto Jehovah your God; for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness, and repenteth him of the evil. ¹⁴ Who knoweth whether he will not turn and repent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meal-offering and a drink-offering unto Jehovah your God?

³ Jehovah repented concerning this: It shall not be, saith Jehovah.

⁶ Jehovah repented concerning this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord Jehovah.

⁹ Who knoweth whether God will not turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?

¹⁶ Therefore thus saith Jehovah: I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies; my house shall be built in it, saith Jehovah of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth over Jerusalem.

⁶ Surely goodness and lovingkindness shall follow me all the days of my life;
And I shall dwell in the house of Jehovah for ever.

⁷ I will be glad and rejoice in thy lovingkindness;
For thou hast seen my affliction:
Thou hast known my soul in adversities;

⁷ How precious is thy lovingkindness, O God!
And the children of men take refuge under the shadow of thy wings. ⁸ They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house;
And thou wilt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.

³ Because thy lovingkindness is better than life,
My lips shall praise thee. ⁴ So will I bless thee while I live:
I will lift up my hands in thy name. ⁵ My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness;
And my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips;

⁴ Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach [unto thee],
That he may dwell in thy courts:
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house,
Thy holy temple.

⁶ Wilt thou not quicken us again,
That thy people may rejoice in thee?

⁴ Rejoice the soul of thy servant;
For unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

³ Who forgiveth all thine iniquities;
Who healeth all thy diseases; ⁴ Who redeemeth thy life from destruction;
Who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; ⁵ Who satisfieth thy desire with good things,
[So that] thy youth is renewed like the eagle.

² Let Israel rejoice in him that made him:
Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.

¹⁵ Thus saith Jehovah: A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children; she refuseth to be comforted for her children, because they are not.

¹⁷ For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! grain shall make the young men flourish, and new wine the virgins.

⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always: again I will say, Rejoice.

⁵ For his anger is but for a moment;
His favor is for a life-time:
Weeping may tarry for the night,
But joy [cometh] in the morning.

⁵ They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. ⁶ He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing seed for sowing,
Shall doubtless come again with joy, bringing his sheaves [with him].

¹ And in that day thou shalt say, I will give thanks unto thee, O Jehovah; for though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away and thou comfortest me.

¹ Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. ² Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem; and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she hath received of Jehovah's hand double for all her sins.

³ to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of Jehovah, that he may be glorified.

¹⁸ But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create; for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. ¹⁹ And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people; and there shall be heard in her no more the voice of weeping and the voice of crying.

¹² And they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow unto the goodness of Jehovah, to the grain, and to the new wine, and to the oil, and to the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all. ¹³ Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old together; for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

⁴ Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

²⁰ Verily, verily, I say unto you, that ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

¹⁴ And I say unto him, My lord, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they that come out of the great tribulation, and they washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. ¹⁵ Therefore are they before the throne of God; and they serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall spread his tabernacle over them. ¹⁶ They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun strike upon them, nor any heat: ¹⁷ for the Lamb that is in the midst of the throne shall be their shepherd, and shall guide them unto fountains of waters of life: and God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes.

¹⁵ Now if thou shalt kill this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying, ¹⁶ Because Jehovah was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness. ¹⁷ And now, I pray thee, let the power of the Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying, ¹⁸ Jehovah is slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness, forgiving iniquity and transgression; and that will by no means clear [the guilty], visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation. ¹⁹ Pardon, I pray thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy lovingkindness, and according as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.
²⁰ And Jehovah said, I have pardoned according to thy word: ²¹ but in very deed, as I live, and as all the earth shall be filled with the glory of Jehovah; ²² because all those men that have seen my glory, and my signs, which I wrought in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have tempted me these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice; ²³ surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that despised me see it: ²⁴ but my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.

³⁰ surely ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware that I would make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun. ³¹ But your little ones, that ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have rejected.

³⁹ Moreover your little ones, that ye said should be a prey, and your children, that this day have no knowledge of good or evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.

⁴ The Rock, his work is perfect;
For all his ways are justice:
A God of faithfulness and without iniquity,
Just and right is he.

²² then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land. ²³ For Jehovah your God dried up the waters of the Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as Jehovah your God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were passed over; ²⁴ that all the peoples of the earth may know the hand of Jehovah, that it is mighty; that ye may fear Jehovah your God for ever.

¹⁴ And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which Jehovah your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, not one thing hath failed thereof.

We have heard with our ears, O God,
Our fathers have told us,
What work thou didst in their days,
In the days of old.

¹² I will meditate also upon all thy work,
And muse on thy doings.

⁴ For thou, Jehovah, hast made me glad through thy work:
I will triumph in the works of thy hands.

² O Jehovah, I have heard the report of thee, and am afraid:
O Jehovah, revive thy work in the midst of the years;
In the midst of the years make it known;
In wrath remember mercy.

²⁸ Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee;
And light shall shine upon thy ways.

⁴ One thing have I asked of Jehovah, that will I seek after:
That I may dwell in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of Jehovah,
And to inquire in his temple.

² Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty,
God hath shined forth.

²⁸ Thy God hath commanded thy strength:
Strengthen, O God, that which thou hast wrought for us.

³ Turn us again, O God;
And cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.

⁷ Turn us again, O God of hosts;
And cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.

³ Thy people offer themselves willingly In the day of thy power, in holy array:
Out of the womb of the morning
Thou hast the dew of thy youth.

²⁵ Save now, we beseech thee, O Jehovah:
O Jehovah, we beseech thee, send now prosperity.

³ Commit thy works unto Jehovah,
And thy purposes shall be established.

¹² Jehovah, thou wilt ordain peace for us; for thou hast also wrought all our works for us.

⁷ So then neither is he that planteth anything, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

¹⁸ But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord the Spirit.

¹⁶ Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,

² Beloved, now are we children of God, and it is not yet made manifest what we shall be. We know that, if he shall be manifested, we shall be like him; for we shall see him even as he is.
