¹ And when he entered again into Capernaum after some days, it was noised that he was in the house. ² And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room [for them], no, not even about the door: and he spake the word unto them. ³ And they come, bringing unto him a man sick of the palsy, borne of four. ⁴ And when they could not come nigh unto him for the crowd, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed whereon the sick of the palsy lay. ⁵ And Jesus seeing their faith saith unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins are forgiven. ⁶ But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, ⁷ Why doth this man thus speak? he blasphemeth: who can forgive sins but one, [even] God? ⁸ And straightway Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, saith unto them, { Why reason ye these things in your hearts? ⁹ Which is easier, to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins are forgiven; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? ¹⁰ But that ye may know that the Son of man hath authority on earth to forgive sins} (he saith to the sick of the palsy){, ¹¹ I say unto thee, Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thy house.} ¹² And he arose, and straightway took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.
¹³ And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them. ¹⁴ And as he passed by, he saw Levi the [son] of Alphζus sitting at the place of toll, and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.
¹⁵ And it came to pass, that he was sitting at meat in his house, and many publicans and sinners sat down with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him. ¹⁶ And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with the sinners and publicans, said unto his disciples, [How is it] that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? ¹⁷ And when Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of a physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.
¹⁸ And John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting: and they come and say unto him, Why do John's disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not? ¹⁹ And Jesus said unto them, { Can the sons of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. ²⁰ But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then will they fast in that day. ²¹ No man seweth a piece of undressed cloth on an old garment: else that which should fill it up taketh from it, the new from the old, and a worse rent is made. ²² And no man putteth new wine into old wine-skins; else the wine will burst the skins, and the wine perisheth, and the skins: but [they put] new wine into fresh wine-skins.}
²³ And it came to pass, that he was going on the sabbath day through the grainfields; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears. ²⁴ And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful? ²⁵ And he said unto them, { Did ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was hungry, he, and they that were with him? ²⁶ How he entered into the house of God when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the showbread, which it is not lawful to eat save for the priests, and gave also to them that were with him?} ²⁷ And he said unto them, { The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: ²⁸ so that the Son of man is lord even of the sabbath.}

¹ And he entered into a boat, and crossed over, and came into his own city.

⁴⁵ But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to spread abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into a city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.

²⁴ And from thence he arose, and went away into the borders of Tyre and Sidon. And he entered into a house, and would have no man know it; and he could not be hid.

¹⁸ And behold, men bring on a bed a man that was palsied: and they sought to bring him in, and to lay him before him.

³⁵ And it came to pass, as he drew nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging: ³⁶ and hearing a multitude going by, he inquired what this meant. ³⁷ And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by. ³⁸ And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.

⁴⁷ When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judζa into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought [him] that he would come down, and heal his son; for he was at the point of death.

⁶ And when this sound was heard, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speaking in his own language.

⁹ I have proclaimed glad tidings of righteousness in the great assembly;
Lo, I will not refrain my lips, O Jehovah, thou knowest.

² and he opened his mouth and taught them, saying,

¹⁴ Now after John was delivered up, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God,

³³ And all the city was gathered together at the door.

³⁷ and they found him, and say unto him, All are seeking thee.

¹³ And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.

¹ And again he began to teach by the sea side. And there is gathered unto him a very great multitude, so that he entered into a boat, and sat in the sea; and all the multitude were by the sea on the land. ² And he taught them many things in parables, and said unto them in his teaching,

³⁴ And he came forth and saw a great multitude, and he had compassion on them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.

¹⁷ And it came to pass on one of those days, that he was teaching; and there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, who were come out of every village of Galilee and Judζa and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was with him to heal.

¹ And it came to pass soon afterwards, that he went about through cities and villages, preaching and bringing the good tidings of the kingdom of God, and with him the twelve,

¹¹ Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

¹ In the mean time, when the many thousands of the multitude were gathered together, insomuch that they trod one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, { Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

²⁵ They therefore, when they had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel to many villages of the Samaritans.

¹⁹ They therefore that were scattered abroad upon the tribulation that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phoenicia, and Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word to none save only to Jews.

²⁵ And when they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia;

⁶ And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden of the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia;

⁸ But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach:

² preach the word; be urgent in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

²⁴ And the report of him went forth into all Syria: and they brought unto him all that were sick, holden with divers diseases and torments, possessed with demons, and epileptic, and palsied; and he healed them.

¹ And he entered into a boat, and crossed over, and came into his own city. ² And behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, be of good cheer; thy sins are forgiven. ³ And behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. ⁴ And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, { Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? ⁵ For which is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven; or to say, Arise, and walk? ⁶ But that ye may know that the Son of man hath authority on earth to forgive sins} (then saith he to the sick of the palsy), Arise, and take up thy bed, and go unto thy house. ⁷ And he arose, and departed to his house. ⁸ But when the multitudes saw it, they were afraid, and glorified God, who had given such authority unto men.

¹⁸ And behold, men bring on a bed a man that was palsied: and they sought to bring him in, and to lay him before him. ¹⁹ And not finding by what [way] they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went up to the housetop, and let him down through the tiles with his couch into the midst before Jesus. ²⁰ And seeing their faith, he said, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. ²¹ And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this that speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? ²² But Jesus perceiving their reasonings, answered and said unto them, { Why reason ye in your hearts? ²³ Which is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, Arise and walk? ²⁴ But that ye may know that the Son of man hath authority on earth to forgive sins} (he said unto him that was palsied), I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go unto thy house. ²⁵ And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his house, glorifying God. ²⁶ And amazement took hold on all, and they glorified God; and they were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to-day.

⁸ When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thy house, if any man fall from thence.

¹⁹ And not finding by what [way] they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went up to the housetop, and let him down through the tiles with his couch into the midst before Jesus.

¹² And he said, Lay not thy hand upon the lad, neither do thou anything unto him; for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son, from me.

¹⁷ That he may withdraw man [from his] purpose,
And hide pride from man; ¹⁸ He keepeth back his soul from the pit,
And his life from perishing by the sword.
¹⁹ He is chastened also with pain upon his bed,
And with continual strife in his bones; ²⁰ So that his life abhorreth bread,
And his soul dainty food. ²¹ His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen;
And his bones that were not seen stick out. ²² Yea, his soul draweth near unto the pit,
And his life to the destroyers.
²³ If there be with him an angel,
An interpreter, one among a thousand,
To show unto man what is right for him; ²⁴ Then [God] is gracious unto him, and saith,
Deliver him from going down to the pit,
I have found a ransom. ²⁵ His flesh shall be fresher than a child's;
He returneth to the days of his youth. ²⁶ He prayeth unto God, and he is favorable unto him,
So that he seeth his face with joy:
And he restoreth unto man his righteousness.

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered. ² Blessed is the man unto whom Jehovah imputeth not iniquity,
And in whose spirit there is no guile. ³ When I kept silence, my bones wasted away
Through my groaning all the day long. ⁴ For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me:
My moisture was changed [as] with the drought of summer. [Selah
⁵ I acknowledged my sin unto thee,
And mine iniquity did I not hide:
I said, I will confess my transgressions unto Jehovah;
And thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. [Selah

⁷ For we are consumed in thine anger,
And in thy wrath are we troubled. ⁸ Thou hast set our iniquities before thee,
Our secret sins in the light of thy countenance. ⁹ For all our days are passed away in thy wrath:
We bring our years to an end as a sigh.

³ Who forgiveth all thine iniquities;
Who healeth all thy diseases;

¹⁷ Behold, [it was] for [my] peace [that] I had great bitterness:
But thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption;
For thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.

¹¹ He shall see of the travail of his soul, [and] shall be satisfied: by the knowledge of himself shall my righteous servant justify many; and he shall bear their iniquities.

² And behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, be of good cheer; thy sins are forgiven.

²² But Jesus turning and seeing her said, Daughter, be of good cheer; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

⁹ Which is easier, to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins are forgiven; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? ¹⁰ But that ye may know that the Son of man hath authority on earth to forgive sins} (he saith to the sick of the palsy){,

³⁴ And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

²⁰ And seeing their faith, he said, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.

⁴⁷ Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, [the same] loveth little.} ⁴⁸ And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. ⁴⁹ And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that even forgiveth sins? ⁵⁰ And he said unto the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

⁴⁸ And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

²⁵ and because he needed not that any one should bear witness concerning man; for he himself knew what was in man.

¹⁴ Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing befall thee.

³¹ Him did God exalt with his right hand [to be] a Prince and a Saviour, to give repentance to Israel, and remission of sins.

²³ who, when he was come, and had seen the grace of God, was glad; and he exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord:

⁹ The same heard Paul speaking, who, fastening his eyes upon him, and seeing that he had faith to be made whole,

³⁰ For this cause many among you are weak and sickly, and not a few sleep.

¹⁰ But to whom ye forgive anything, I [forgive] also: for what I also have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, for your sakes [have I forgiven it] in the presence of Christ;

⁸ for by grace have ye been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, [it is] the gift of God;

¹³ forbearing one another, and forgiving each other, if any man have a complaint against any; even as the Lord forgave you, so also do ye:

³ remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father; ⁴ knowing, brethren beloved of God, your election,

¹⁸ Yea, a man will say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: show me thy faith apart from [thy] works, and I by my works will show thee [my] faith. ¹⁹ Thou believest that God is one; thou doest well: the demons also believe, and shudder. ²⁰ But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith apart from works is barren? ²¹ Was not Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son upon the altar? ²² Thou seest that faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect;

¹⁵ and the prayer of faith shall save him that is sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, it shall be forgiven him.

⁷ And they reasoned among themselves, saying, We took no bread. ⁸ And Jesus perceiving it said, { O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have no bread?

¹⁷ And Jesus perceiving it saith unto them, { Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? do ye not yet perceive, neither understand? have ye your heart hardened?

²¹ And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this that speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? ²² But Jesus perceiving their reasonings, answered and said unto them, { Why reason ye in your hearts?

⁵ casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ;

⁴ Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.

⁴ But there is forgiveness with thee,
That thou mayest be feared.

²⁵ I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake; and I will not remember thy sins.

⁹ To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgiveness; for we have rebelled against him;

¹⁸ Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth over the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in lovingkindness.

³ And behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.

⁶⁵ Then the high priest rent his garments, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy: what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard the blasphemy:

⁶⁴ Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be worthy of death.

²¹ And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this that speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?

⁴⁹ And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that even forgiveth sins?

³³ The Jews answered him, For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

³⁶ say ye of him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am [the] Son of God?

²⁰ And when he had said this, he showed unto them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore were glad, when they saw the Lord. ²¹ Jesus therefore said to them again, Peace [be] unto you: as the Father hath sent me, even so send I you. ²² And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, { Receive ye the Holy Spirit: ²³ whose soever sins ye forgive, they are forgiven unto them; whose soever [sins] ye retain, they are retained.}

¹⁷ I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, that are present here, offer willingly unto thee.

² Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising;
Thou understandest my thought afar off.

²⁶ Evil devices are an abomination to Jehovah;
But pleasant words [are] pure.

⁹ The thought of foolishness is sin;
And the scoffer is an abomination to men.

⁷ let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto Jehovah, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

¹⁰ Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: It shall come to pass in that day, that things shall come into thy mind, and thou shalt devise an evil device:

⁴ And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, { Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?

²¹ For from within, out of the heart of men, evil thoughts proceed, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries,

²² But Jesus perceiving their reasonings, answered and said unto them, { Why reason ye in your hearts?

⁸ But he knew their thoughts; and he said to the man that had his hand withered. Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.

³⁹ Now when the Pharisee that had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him, that she is a sinner. ⁴⁰ And Jesus answering said unto him, { Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Teacher, say on.

³⁸ And he said unto them, { Why are ye troubled? and wherefore do questionings arise in your heart?

²⁴ But Jesus did not trust himself unto them, for that he knew all men, ²⁵ and because he needed not that any one should bear witness concerning man; for he himself knew what was in man.

⁶⁴ But there are some of you that believe not.} For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who it was that should betray him.

¹⁷ He saith unto him the third time, Simon, [son] of John, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, { Feed my sheep.

³ But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thy heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back [part] of the price of the land?

²² Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray the Lord, if perhaps the thought of thy heart shall be forgiven thee.

¹³ And there is no creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

²³ And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he that searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto each one of you according to your works.

¹³ I saw in the night-visions, and, behold, there came with the clouds of heaven one like unto a son of man, and he came even to the ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. ¹⁴ And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations, and languages should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

¹³ Now when Jesus came into the parts of Cζsarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Who do men say that the Son of man is?

²⁰ For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things that himself doeth: and greater works than these will he show him, that ye may marvel. ²¹ For as the Father raiseth the dead and giveth them life, even so the Son also giveth life to whom he will. ²² For neither doth the Father judge any man, but he hath given all judgment unto the Son; ²³ that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son honoreth not the Father that sent him. ²⁴ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath eternal life, and cometh not into judgment, but hath passed out of death into life. ²⁵ Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour cometh, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God; and they that hear shall live. ²⁶ For as the Father hath life in himself, even so gave he to the Son also to have life in himself: ²⁷ and he gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man.

¹³ though I was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: howbeit I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief; ¹⁴ and the grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ Faithful is the saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief: ¹⁶ howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me as chief might Jesus Christ show forth all his longsuffering, for an ensample of them that should thereafter believe on him unto eternal life.

⁴¹ And being moved with compassion, he stretched forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou made clean.

⁸ Jesus saith unto him, Arise, take up thy bed, and walk. ⁹ And straightway the man was made whole, and took up his bed and walked. Now it was the sabbath on that day.
¹⁰ So the Jews said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath, and it is not lawful for thee to take up thy bed.

⁶³ It is the spirit that giveth life; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I have spoken unto you are spirit, and are life.

⁸ But when the multitudes saw it, they were afraid, and glorified God, who had given such authority unto men.

³³ And when the demon was cast out, the dumb man spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.

²³ And all the multitudes were amazed, and said, Can this be the son of David?

³¹ insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb speaking, the maimed whole, and the lame walking, and the blind seeing: and they glorified the God of Israel.

²⁷ And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What is this? a new teaching! with authority he commandeth even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.

²⁶ And amazement took hold on all, and they glorified God; and they were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to-day.

¹⁶ And fear took hold on all: and they glorified God, saying, A great prophet is arisen among us: and, God hath visited his people.

¹³ And he laid his hands upon her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

¹⁵ And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, with a loud voice glorifying God;

³¹ But of the multitude many believed on him; and they said, When the Christ shall come, will he do more signs than those which this man hath done?

³² Since the world began it was never heard that any one opened the eyes of a man born blind.

²¹ And they, when they had further threatened them, let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people; for all men glorified God for that which was done.

²⁰ Wisdom crieth aloud in the street;
She uttereth her voice in the broad places; ²¹ She crieth in the chief place of concourse;
At the entrance of the gates,
In the city, she uttereth her words: ²² How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity?
And scoffers delight them in scoffing,
And fools hate knowledge?

⁹ And as Jesus passed by from thence, he saw a man, called Matthew, sitting at the place of toll: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.

¹ On that day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.

² And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room [for them], no, not even about the door: and he spake the word unto them.

⁷ And Jesus with his disciples withdrew to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed; and from Judζa, ⁸ and from Jerusalem, and from Idumζa, and beyond the Jordan, and about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, hearing what great things he did, came unto him.

²⁰ And the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread. ²¹ And when his friends heard it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.

¹ And again he began to teach by the sea side. And there is gathered unto him a very great multitude, so that he entered into a boat, and sat in the sea; and all the multitude were by the sea on the land.

⁴⁸ and they could not find what they might do; for the people all hung upon him, listening.

³⁸ And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, to hear him.

¹⁹ And he saith unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you fishers of men. ²⁰ And they straightway left the nets, and followed him. ²¹ And going on from thence he saw two other brethren, James the [son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. ²² And they straightway left the boat and their father, and followed him.

⁹ And as Jesus passed by from thence, he saw a man, called Matthew, sitting at the place of toll: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.
¹⁰ And it came to pass, as he sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and his disciples. ¹¹ And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Teacher with the publicans and sinners? ¹² But when he heard it, he said, { They that are whole have no need of a physician, but they that are sick. ¹³ But go ye and learn what [this] meaneth, I desire mercy, and not sacrifice: for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.}

¹⁷ And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. ¹⁸ And straightway they left the nets, and followed him. ¹⁹ And going on a little further, he saw James the [son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending the nets. ²⁰ And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went after him.

¹⁸ and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the [son] of Alphζus, and Thaddζus, and Simon the Cananζan,

²⁷ And after these things he went forth, and beheld a publican, named Levi, sitting at the place of toll, and said unto him, Follow me. ²⁸ And he forsook all, and rose up and followed him.
²⁹ And Levi made him a great feast in his house: and there was a great multitude of publicans and of others that were sitting at meat with them. ³⁰ And the Pharisees and their scribes murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with the publicans and sinners? ³¹ And Jesus answering said unto them, { They that are in health have no need of a physician; but they that are sick. ³² I am not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.}

¹⁵ and Matthew and Thomas, and James [the son] of Alphζus, and Simon who was called the Zealot,

¹³ And when they were come in, they went up into the upper chamber, where they were abiding; both Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James [the son] of Alphζus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas [the son] of James.

¹⁰ And it came to pass, as he sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and his disciples. ¹¹ And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Teacher with the publicans and sinners?

³¹ Which of the two did the will of his father? They say, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, that the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. ³² For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not; but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye saw it, did not even repent yourselves afterward, that ye might believe him.

²⁹ And Levi made him a great feast in his house: and there was a great multitude of publicans and of others that were sitting at meat with them. ³⁰ And the Pharisees and their scribes murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with the publicans and sinners?

¹⁷ and he came down with them, and stood on a level place, and a great multitude of his disciples, and a great number of the people from all Judζa and Jerusalem, and the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;

¹ Now all the publicans and sinners were drawing near unto him to hear him.

⁵ that say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me, for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.

¹¹ And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Teacher with the publicans and sinners?

¹⁷ And if he refuse to hear them, tell it unto the church: and if he refuse to hear the church also, let him be unto thee as the Gentile and the publican.

⁷ Why doth this man thus speak? he blasphemeth: who can forgive sins but one, [even] God?

² And both the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them. ³ And he spake unto them this parable, saying, ⁴ { What man of you, having a hundred sheep, and having lost one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? ⁵ And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. ⁶ And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and his neighbors, saying unto them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost. ⁷ I say unto you, that even so there shall be joy in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, [more] than over ninety and nine righteous persons, who need no repentance.

¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as the rest of men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

⁷ And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, He is gone in to lodge with a man that is a sinner.

¹⁰ For the Son of man came to seek and to save that which was lost.}

⁹ And there arose a great clamor: and some of the scribes of the Pharisees part stood up, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: and what if a spirit hath spoken to him, or an angel?

¹⁵ But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, and he himself is judged of no man.

³ For consider him that hath endured such gainsaying of sinners against himself, that ye wax not weary, fainting in your souls.

¹⁸ Come now, and let us reason together, saith Jehovah: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

¹⁰ See that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, that in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven.

⁷ I say unto you, that even so there shall be joy in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, [more] than over ninety and nine righteous persons, who need no repentance.

¹⁰ Even so, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.}

²⁹ But he answered and said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, and I never transgressed a commandment of thine; and [yet] thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:

¹⁵ And he said unto them, { Ye are they that justify yourselves in the sight of men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

³⁴ They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.

⁴⁰ Those of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things, and said unto him, Are we also blind?

²¹ testifying both to Jews and to Greeks repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁰ but declared both to them of Damascus first and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the country of Judζa, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance.

⁶ For while we were yet weak, in due season Christ died for the ungodly. ⁷ For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: for peradventure for the good man some one would even dare to die. ⁸ But God commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

²⁰ And the law came in besides, that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace did abound more exceedingly: ²¹ that, as sin reigned in death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

⁹ Or know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with men, ¹⁰ nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. ¹¹ And such were some of you: but ye were washed, but ye were sanctified, but ye were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God.

¹⁴ who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a people for his own possession, zealous of good works.

³ For we also once were foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. ⁴ But when the kindness of God our Saviour, and his love toward man, appeared, ⁵ not by works [done] in righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, ⁶ which he poured out upon us richly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour; ⁷ that, being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

¹⁶ Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen of men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.

¹⁸ that thou be not seen of men to fast, but of thy Father who is in secret: and thy Father, who seeth in secret, shall recompense thee.

¹⁴ Then come to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not? ¹⁵ And Jesus said unto them, { Can the sons of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then will they fast. ¹⁶ And no man putteth a piece of undressed cloth upon an old garment; for that which should fill it up taketh from the garment, and a worse rent is made. ¹⁷ Neither do [men] put new wine into old wine-skins: else the skins burst, and the wine is spilled, and the skins perish: but they put new wine into fresh wine-skins, and both are preserved.}

⁵ But all their works they do to be seen of men: for they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders [of their garments],

³³ And they said unto him, The disciples of John fast often, and make supplications; likewise also the [disciples] of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink. ³⁴ And Jesus said unto them, { Can ye make the sons of the bride-chamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? ³⁵ But the days will come; and when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, then will they fast in those days.} ³⁶ And he spake also a parable unto them: { No man rendeth a piece from a new garment and putteth it upon an old garment; else he will rend the new, and also the piece from the new will not agree with the old. ³⁷ And no man putteth new wine into old wine-skins; else the new wine will burst the skins, and itself will be spilled, and the skins will perish. ³⁸ But new wine must be put into fresh wine-skins. ³⁹ And no man having drunk old [wine] desireth new; for he saith, The old is good.}

¹² I fast twice in the week; I give tithes of all that I get.

³ For being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

²² And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.

¹⁰ And his father went down unto the woman: and Samson made there a feast; for so used the young men to do. ¹¹ And it came to pass, when they saw him, that they brought thirty companions to be with him.

¹⁴ She shall be led unto the king in broidered work:
The virgins her companions that follow her
Shall be brought unto thee.

⁸ There are threescore queens, and fourscore concubines,
And virgins without number.

¹ { Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. ² And five of them were foolish, and five were wise. ³ For the foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them: ⁴ but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. ⁵ Now while the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. ⁶ But at midnight there is a cry, Behold, the bridegroom! Come ye forth to meet him. ⁷ Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. ⁸ And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are going out. ⁹ But the wise answered, saying, Peradventure there will not be enough for us and you: go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. ¹⁰ And while they went away to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage feast: and the door was shut.

¹¹ So will the king desire thy beauty;
For he is thy lord; and reverence thou him.

¹¹ Go forth, O ye daughters of Zion, and behold king Solomon,
With the crown wherewith his mother hath crowned him
In the day of his espousals,
And in the day of the gladness of his heart.

⁵ For thy Maker is thy husband; Jehovah of hosts is his name: and the Holy One of Israel is thy Redeemer; the God of the whole earth shall he be called.

⁵ For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee; and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.

⁷ Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith Jehovah of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered; and I will turn my hand upon the little ones.

³¹ Then saith Jesus unto them, { All ye shall be offended in me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

²² And he said unto the disciples, { The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.

²⁹ He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, that standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is made full.

³³ Jesus therefore said, { Yet a little while am I with you, and I go unto him that sent me. ³⁴ Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, ye cannot come.}

⁸ For the poor ye have always with you; but me ye have not always.}

³³ Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say unto you.

⁷ Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I go, I will send him unto you.

²⁸ I came out from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go unto the Father.}

¹¹ And I am no more in the world, and these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep them in thy name which thou hast given me, that they may be one, even as we [are].

¹³ But now I come to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy made full in themselves.

⁹ And when he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

²¹ whom the heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, whereof God spake by the mouth of his holy prophets that have been from of old.

² And as they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. ³ Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

²³ And when they had appointed for them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they had believed.

⁵ Defraud ye not one the other, except it be by consent for a season, that ye may give yourselves unto prayer, and may be together again, that Satan tempt you not because of your incontinency.

⁵ in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in watchings, in fastings;

² For I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy: for I espoused you to one husband, that I might present you [as] a pure virgin to Christ.

²⁷ [in] labor and travail, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

⁷ Let us rejoice and be exceeding glad, and let us give the glory unto him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

⁹ And there came one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls, who were laden with the seven last plagues; and he spake with me, saying, Come hither, I will show thee the bride, the wife of the Lamb.

¹³ Like as a father pitieth his children,
So Jehovah pitieth them that fear him. ¹⁴ For he knoweth our frame;
He remembereth that we are dust. ¹⁵ As for man, his days are as grass;
As a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

¹⁶ For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth; for the spirit would faint before me, and the souls that I have made.

¹⁶ And no man putteth a piece of undressed cloth upon an old garment; for that which should fill it up taketh from the garment, and a worse rent is made.

¹³ There hath no temptation taken you but such as man can bear: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it.

⁴ they also did work wilily, and went and made as if they had been ambassadors, and took old sacks upon their asses, and wine-skins, old and rent and bound up,

¹³ and these wine-skins, which we filled, were new; and, behold, they are rent: and these our garments and our shoes are become old by reason of the very long journey.

¹⁹ Behold, my breast is as wine which hath no vent;
Like new wine-skins it is ready to burst.

⁸⁰ Let my heart be perfect in thy statutes,
That I be not put to shame.

⁸³ For I am become like a wine-skin in the smoke;
Yet do I not forget thy statutes.

¹⁷ Neither do [men] put new wine into old wine-skins: else the skins burst, and the wine is spilled, and the skins perish: but they put new wine into fresh wine-skins, and both are preserved.}

³⁷ And no man putteth new wine into old wine-skins; else the new wine will burst the skins, and itself will be spilled, and the skins will perish. ³⁸ But new wine must be put into fresh wine-skins.

²⁴ When thou comest into thy neighbor's vineyard, then thou mayest eat of grapes thy fill at thine own pleasure; but thou shalt not put any in thy vessel. ²⁵ When thou comest into thy neighbor's standing grain, then thou mayest pluck the ears with thy hand; but thou shalt not move a sickle unto thy neighbor's standing grain.

¹ At that season Jesus went on the sabbath day through the grainfields; and his disciples were hungry and began to pluck ears and to eat. ² But the Pharisees, when they saw it, said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which it is not lawful to do upon the sabbath. ³ But he said unto them, { Have ye not read what David did, when he was hungry, and they that were with him; ⁴ how he entered into the house of God, and ate the showbread, which it was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them that were with him, but only for the priests? ⁵ Or have ye not read in the law, that on the sabbath day the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are guiltless? ⁶ But I say unto you, that one greater than the temple is here. ⁷ But if ye had known what this meaneth, I desire mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless. ⁸ For the Son of man is lord of the sabbath.}

¹ Now it came to pass on a sabbath, that he was going through the grainfields; and his disciples plucked the ears, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands. ² But certain of the Pharisees said, Why do ye that which it is not lawful to do on the sabbath day? ³ And Jesus answering them said, { Have ye not read even this, what David did, when he was hungry, he, and they that were with him; ⁴ how he entered into the house of God, and took and ate the showbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat save for the priests alone?} ⁵ And he said unto them, The Son of man is lord of the sabbath.

¹⁰ but the seventh day is a sabbath unto Jehovah thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

¹⁵ Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a sabbath of solemn rest, holy to Jehovah: whosoever doeth any work on the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.

² Six days shall work be done; but on the seventh day there shall be to you a holy day, a sabbath of solemn rest to Jehovah: whosoever doeth any work therein shall be put to death. ³ Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon the sabbath day.

³² And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks upon the sabbath day. ³³ And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation. ³⁴ And they put him in ward, because it had not been declared what should be done to him. ³⁵ And Jehovah said unto Moses, The man shall surely be put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp. ³⁶ And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him to death with stones; as Jehovah commanded Moses.

¹⁵ In those days saw I in Judah some men treading winepresses on the sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses [therewith]; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified [against them] in the day wherein they sold victuals. ¹⁶ There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, who brought in fish, and all manner of wares, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem. ¹⁷ Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day? ¹⁸ Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath.
¹⁹ And it came to pass that, when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the doors should be shut, and commanded that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I over the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day. ²⁰ So the merchants and sellers of all kind of wares lodged without Jerusalem once or twice. ²¹ Then I testified against them, and said unto them, Why lodge ye about the wall? if ye do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more on the sabbath. ²² And I commanded the Levites that they should purify themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the sabbath day. Remember unto me, O my God, this also, and spare me according to the greatness of thy lovingkindness.

² Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that holdeth it fast; that keepeth the sabbath from profaning it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.

⁴ For thus saith Jehovah of the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and hold fast my covenant:

⁶ Also the foreigners that join themselves to Jehovah, to minister unto him, and to love the name of Jehovah, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from profaning it, and holdeth fast my covenant;

¹³ If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, [and] the holy of Jehovah honorable; and shalt honor it, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking [thine own] words:

²⁰ and say unto them, Hear ye the word of Jehovah, ye kings of Judah, and all Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, that enter in by these gates: ²¹ Thus saith Jehovah, Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem; ²² neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the sabbath day, neither do ye any work: but hallow ye the sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers. ²³ But they hearkened not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, and might not receive instruction.
²⁴ And it shall come to pass, if ye diligently hearken unto me, saith Jehovah, to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but to hallow the sabbath day, to do no work therein; ²⁵ then shall there enter in by the gates of this city kings and princes sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they, and their princes, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and this city shall remain for ever. ²⁶ And they shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places round about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the lowland, and from the hill-country, and from the South, bringing burnt-offerings, and sacrifices, and meal-offerings, and frankincense, and bringing [sacrifices of] thanksgiving, unto the house of Jehovah. ²⁷ But if ye will not hearken unto me to hallow the sabbath day, and not to bear a burden and enter in at the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day; then will I kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched.

³ And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? ⁴ Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me cast out the mote out of thine eye; and lo, the beam is in thine own eye? ⁵ Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

² But the Pharisees, when they saw it, said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which it is not lawful to do upon the sabbath.

² Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. ³ And he answered and said unto them, { Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?

²³ Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye tithe mint and anise and cummin, and have left undone the weightier matters of the law, justice, and mercy, and faith: but these ye ought to have done, and not to have left the other undone. ²⁴ Ye blind guides, that strain out the gnat, and swallow the camel!

¹⁶ And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with the sinners and publicans, said unto his disciples, [How is it] that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?

³ Now therefore what is under thy hand? give me five loaves of bread in my hand, or whatsoever there is present. ⁴ And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under my hand, but there is holy bread; if only the young men have kept themselves from women. ⁵ And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days; when I came out, the vessels of the young men were holy, though it was but a common journey; how much more then to-day shall their vessels be holy? ⁶ So the priest gave him holy [bread]; for there was no bread there but the showbread, that was taken from before Jehovah, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away.

⁴ And he answered and said, { Have ye not read, that he who made [them] from the beginning made them male and female,

¹⁶ and said unto him, Hearest thou what these are saying? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea: did ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?

⁴² Jesus saith unto them, { Did ye never read in the scriptures,
The stone which the builders rejected,
The same was made the head of the corner;
This was from the Lord,
And it is marvelous in our eyes?

³¹ But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,

²⁰ There were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed;

²⁶ But as touching the dead, that they are raised; have ye not read in the book of Moses, in [the place concerning] the Bush, how God spake unto him, saying, I [am] the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?

²⁶ And he said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

³² And Aaron and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram, and the bread that is in the basket, at the door of the tent of meeting. ³³ And they shall eat those things wherewith atonement was made, to consecrate [and] to sanctify them: but a stranger shall not eat thereof, because they are holy.

⁵ And thou shalt take fine flour, and bake twelve cakes thereof: two tenth parts [of an ephah] shall be in one cake. ⁶ And thou shalt set them in two rows, six on a row, upon the pure table before Jehovah. ⁷ And thou shalt put pure frankincense upon each row, that it may be to the bread for a memorial, even an offering made by fire unto Jehovah. ⁸ Every sabbath day he shall set it in order before Jehovah continually; it is on the behalf of the children of Israel, an everlasting covenant. ⁹ And it shall be for Aaron and his sons; and they shall eat it in a holy place: for it is most holy unto him of the offerings of Jehovah made by fire by a perpetual statute.

¹ Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech came to meet David trembling, and said unto him, Why art thou alone, and no man with thee?

²⁰ And one of the sons of Ahimelech, the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David. ²¹ And Abiathar told David that Saul had slain Jehovah's priests. ²² And David said unto Abiathar, I knew on that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned [the death] of all the persons of thy father's house.

⁶ And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.

⁹ And David knew that Saul was devising mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.

¹⁷ and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Seraiah was scribe;

²⁴ And, lo, Zadok also [came], and all the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God; and they set down the ark of God; and Abiathar went up, until all the people had done passing out of the city.

²⁹ Zadok therefore and Abiathar carried the ark of God again to Jerusalem: and they abode there.

³⁵ And hast thou not there with thee Zadok and Abiathar the priests? therefore it shall be, that what thing soever thou shalt hear out of the king's house, thou shalt tell it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.

²⁵ and Sheva was scribe; and Zadok and Abiathar were priests;

⁷ And he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest: and they following Adonijah helped him.

²² And king Solomon answered and said unto his mother, And why dost thou ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? ask for him the kingdom also; for he is mine elder brother; even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah.

²⁶ And unto Abiathar the priest said the king, Get thee to Anathoth, unto thine own fields; for thou art worthy of death: but I will not at this time put thee to death, because thou barest the ark of the Lord Jehovah before David my father, and because thou wast afflicted in all wherein my father was afflicted. ²⁷ So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest unto Jehovah, that he might fulfil the word of Jehovah, which he spake concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.

⁴ and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the host; and Zadok and Abiathar were priests;

⁶ And Shemaiah the son of Nethanel the scribe, who was of the Levites, wrote them in the presence of the king, and the princes, and Zadok the priest, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and the heads of the fathers' [houses] of the priests and of the Levites; one fathers' house being taken for Eleazar, and one taken for Ithamar.

¹² Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest; that thine ox and thine ass may have rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the sojourner, may be refreshed.

¹⁴ but the seventh day is a sabbath unto Jehovah thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy man-servant and thy maid-servant may rest as well as thou.

¹³ Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right ordinances and true laws, good statutes and commandments, ¹⁴ and madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them commandments, and statutes, and a law, by Moses thy servant,

¹² Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am Jehovah that sanctifieth them.

²⁰ and hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am Jehovah your God.

⁹ And Jesus said unto them, I ask you, Is it lawful on the sabbath to do good, or to do harm? to save a life, or to destroy it?

²³ If a man receiveth circumcision on the sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be broken; are ye wroth with me, because I made a man every whit whole on the sabbath?

²¹ Wherefore let no one glory in men. For all things are yours; ²² whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours;

¹⁵ For all things [are] for your sakes, that the grace, being multiplied through the many, may cause the thanksgiving to abound unto the glory of God.

¹⁶ Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a feast day or a new moon or a sabbath day:

⁸ For the Son of man is lord of the sabbath.}

⁴ And he saith unto them, Is it lawful on the sabbath day to do good, or to do harm? to save a life, or to kill? But they held their peace.

⁵ And he said unto them, The Son of man is lord of the sabbath.

¹⁵ But the Lord answered him, and said, { Ye hypocrites, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? ¹⁶ And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan had bound, lo, [these] eighteen years, to have been loosed from this bond on the day of the sabbath?}

⁹ And straightway the man was made whole, and took up his bed and walked. Now it was the sabbath on that day.
¹⁰ So the Jews said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath, and it is not lawful for thee to take up thy bed. ¹¹ But he answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.

¹⁷ But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh even until now, and I work.

⁵ When I am in the world, I am the light of the world.} ⁶ When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and anointed his eyes with the clay, ⁷ and said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam (which is by interpretation, Sent) . He went away therefore, and washed, and came seeing. ⁸ The neighbors therefore, and they that saw him aforetime, that he was a beggar, said, Is not this he that sat and begged? ⁹ Others said, It is he: others said, No, but he is like him. He said, I am [he]. ¹⁰ They said therefore unto him, How then were thine eyes opened? ¹¹ He answered, The man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to Siloam, and wash: so I went away and washed, and I received sight.

¹⁴ Now it was the sabbath on the day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.

¹⁶ Some therefore of the Pharisees said, This man is not from God, because he keepeth not the sabbath. But others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such signs? And there was a division among them.

²² and he put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things to the church,

¹⁰ I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet
