¹¹ and thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell securely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates;

⁹ The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil;
My desire shall be satisfied upon them;
I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.

⁷ Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that were therein, how they dwelt in security, after the manner of the Sidonians, quiet and secure; for there was none in the land, possessing authority, that might put [them] to shame in anything, and they were far from the Sidonians, and had no dealings with any man.

²⁷ And they took that which Micah had made, and the priest whom he had, and came unto Laish, unto a people quiet and secure, and smote them with the edge of the sword; and they burnt the city with fire.

⁹ He lurketh in secret as a lion in his covert;
He lieth in wait to catch the poor:
He doth catch the poor, when he draweth him in his net.

¹¹ If they say, Come with us,
Let us lay wait for blood;
Let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause; ¹² Let us swallow them up alive as Sheol,
And whole, as those that go down into the pit; ¹³ We shall find all precious substance;
We shall fill our houses with spoil; ¹⁴ Thou shalt cast thy lot among us;
We will all have one purse: ¹⁵ My son, walk not thou in the way with them;
Refrain thy foot from their path: ¹⁶ For their feet run to evil,
And they make haste to shed blood.

²⁹ Devise not evil against thy neighbor,
Seeing he dwelleth securely by thee. ³⁰ Strive not with a man without cause,
If he have done thee no harm.

²⁴ By thy servants hast thou defied the Lord, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the innermost parts of Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice fir-trees thereof; and I will enter into its farthest height, the forest of its fruitful field; ²⁵ I have digged and drunk water, and with the sole of my feet will I dry up all the rivers of Egypt.

³¹ Arise, get you up unto a nation that is at ease, that dwelleth without care, saith Jehovah; that have neither gates nor bars, that dwell alone. ³² And their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil: and I will scatter unto all winds them that have the corners [of their hair] cut off; and I will bring their calamity from every side of them, saith Jehovah.

⁸ After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, that is gathered out of many peoples, upon the mountains of Israel, which have been a continual waste; but it is brought forth out of the peoples, and they shall dwell securely, all of them.

⁴ and said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as villages without walls, by reason of the multitude of men and cattle therein. ⁵ For I, saith Jehovah, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and I will be the glory in the midst of her.
