²¹ And Moses was content to dwell with the man: and he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter.

³⁸ These twenty years have I been with thee; thy ewes and thy she-goats have not cast their young, and the rams of thy flocks have I not eaten. ³⁹ That which was torn of beasts I brought not unto thee; I bare the loss of it; of my hand didst thou require it, whether stolen by day or stolen by night. ⁴⁰ Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep fled from mine eyes.

¹⁰ And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses, and said, Because I drew him out of the water.

²⁰ And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand. ²¹ And Jehovah said unto Moses, When thou goest back into Egypt, see that thou do before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in thy hand: but I will harden his heart and he will not let the people go. ²² And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith Jehovah, Israel is my son, my first-born: ²³ and I have said unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me; and thou hast refused to let him go: behold, I will slay thy son, thy first-born. ²⁴ And it came to pass on the way at the lodging-place, that Jehovah met him, and sought to kill him. ²⁵ Then Zipporah took a flint, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet; and she said, Surely a bridegroom of blood art thou to me.

² And Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, took Zipporah, Moses' wife, after he had sent her away, ³ and her two sons; of whom the name of the one was Gershom; for he said, I have been a sojourner in a foreign land: ⁴ and the name of the other was Eliezer; for [he said], The God of my father was my help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh. ⁵ And Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, came with his sons and his wife unto Moses into the wilderness where he was encamped, at the mount of God: ⁶ and he said unto Moses, I, thy father-in-law Jethro, am come unto thee, and thy wife, and her two sons with her.

¹ And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married; for he had married a Cushite woman.

¹¹ Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therein to be content. ¹² I know how to be abased, and I know also how to abound: in everything and in all things have I learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in want.

⁶ But godliness with contentment is great gain:

²⁵ choosing rather to share ill treatment with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

⁵ Be ye free from the love of money; content with such things as ye have: for himself hath said, I will in no wise fail thee, neither will I in any wise forsake thee.

¹⁰ and the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
