Ephesians 6:4 Cross References - ASV

⁴ And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but nurture them in the chastening and admonition of the Lord.

¹⁹ For I have known him, to the end that he may command his children and his household after him, that they may keep the way of Jehovah, to do righteousness and justice; to the end that Jehovah may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

¹⁴ And Rachel and Leah answered and said unto him, Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father's house? ¹⁵ Are we not accounted by him as foreigners? for he hath sold us, and hath also quite devoured our money.

²⁶ And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service? ²⁷ that ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of Jehovah's passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.

¹⁴ And it shall be, when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand Jehovah brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage: ¹⁵ and it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that Jehovah slew all the first-born in the land of Egypt, both the first-born of man, and the first-born of beast: therefore I sacrifice to Jehovah all that openeth the womb, being males; but all the first-born of my sons I redeem.

⁹ Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes saw, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life; but make them known unto thy children and thy children's children;

⁷ and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

²⁰ When thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which Jehovah our God hath commanded you? ²¹ then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh's bondmen in Egypt: and Jehovah brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand; ²² and Jehovah showed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his house, before our eyes; ²³ and he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers. ²⁴ And Jehovah commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear Jehovah our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as at this day.

¹⁹ And ye shall teach them your children, talking of them, when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. ²⁰ And thou shalt write them upon the door-posts of thy house, and upon thy gates; ²¹ that your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which Jehovah sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the earth.

⁶ that this may be a sign among you, that, when your children ask in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones? ⁷ then ye shall say unto them, Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of Jehovah; when it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.

²¹ And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones? ²² then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land. ²³ For Jehovah your God dried up the waters of the Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as Jehovah your God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were passed over; ²⁴ that all the peoples of the earth may know the hand of Jehovah, that it is mighty; that ye may fear Jehovah your God for ever.

¹⁵ And if it seem evil unto you to serve Jehovah, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve Jehovah.

³⁰ Then Saul's anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said unto him, Thou son of a perverse rebellious woman, do not I know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own shame, and unto the shame of thy mother's nakedness? ³¹ For as long as the son of Jesse liveth upon the ground, thou shalt not be established, nor thy kingdom. Wherefore now send and fetch him unto me, for he shall surely die. ³² And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said unto him, Wherefore should he be put to death? what hath he done? ³³ And Saul cast his spear at him to smite him; whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to put David to death. ³⁴ So Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and did eat no food the second day of the month; for he was grieved for David, because his father had done him shame.

¹⁰ He shall build a house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever. ¹¹ Now, my son, Jehovah be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the house of Jehovah thy God, as he hath spoken concerning thee. ¹² Only Jehovah give thee discretion and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel; that so thou mayest keep the law of Jehovah thy God. ¹³ Then shalt thou prosper, if thou observe to do the statutes and the ordinances which Jehovah charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; fear not, neither be dismayed.

⁹ And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind; for Jehovah searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: If thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever. ¹⁰ Take heed now; for Jehovah hath chosen thee to build a house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.

²⁰ And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed; for Jehovah God, even my God, is with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until all the work for the service of the house of Jehovah be finished.

¹⁹ and give unto Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the palace, for which I have made provision.

¹⁷ O God, thou hast taught me from my youth;
And hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works. ¹⁸ Yea, even when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not,
Until I have declared thy strength unto [the next] generation,
Thy might to every one that is to come.

⁴ We will not hide them from their children,
Telling to the generation to come the praises of Jehovah,
And his strength, and his wondrous works that he hath done. ⁵ For he established a testimony in Jacob,
And appointed a law in Israel,
Which he commanded our fathers,
That they should make them known to their children; ⁶ That the generation to come might know [them], even the children that should be born;
Who should arise and tell [them] to their children, ⁷ That they might set their hope in God,
And not forget the works of God,
But keep his commandments,

¹ Hear, [my] sons, the instruction of a father,
And attend to know understanding: ² For I give you good doctrine;
Forsake ye not my law. ³ For I was a son unto my father,
Tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. ⁴ And he taught me, and said unto me:
Let thy heart retain my words;
Keep my commandments, and live;

¹⁸ Chasten thy son, seeing there is hope;
And set not thy heart on his destruction.

⁶ Train up a child in the way he should go,
And even when he is old he will not depart from it.

¹⁵ Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child;
[But] the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

¹³ Withhold not correction from the child;
[For] if thou beat him with the rod, he will not die. ¹⁴ Thou shalt beat him with the rod,
And shalt deliver his soul from Sheol.

¹⁵ The rod and reproof give wisdom;
But a child left to himself causeth shame to his mother.

¹⁷ Correct thy son, and he will give thee rest;
Yea, he will give delight unto thy soul.

¹⁹ The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day:
The father to the children shall make known thy truth.

²¹ Fathers, provoke not your children, that they be not discouraged.

⁵ having been reminded of the unfeigned faith that is in thee; which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and, I am persuaded, in thee also.

¹⁵ and that from a babe thou hast known the sacred writings which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

⁷ It is for chastening that ye endure; God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is there whom [his] father chasteneth not? ⁸ But if ye are without chastening, whereof all have been made partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. ⁹ Furthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh to chasten us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? ¹⁰ For they indeed for a few days chastened [us] as seemed good to them; but he for [our] profit, that [we] may be partakers of his holiness.
