³⁹ and by him every one that believeth is justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

²⁰ Though I be righteous, mine own mouth shall condemn me:
Though I be perfect, it shall prove me perverse.

⁴ How then can man be just with God?
Or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?

² And enter not into judgment with thy servant;
For in thy sight no man living is righteous.

¹¹ He shall see of the travail of his soul, [and] shall be satisfied: by the knowledge of himself shall my righteous servant justify many; and he shall bear their iniquities.

³² not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was a husband unto them, saith Jehovah.

⁴ Behold, his soul is puffed up, it is not upright in him; but the righteous shall live by his faith.

²⁵ And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and made trial of him, saying, Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

²⁸ And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

¹⁴ I say unto you, This man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled; but he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.}

¹⁷ For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

²⁴ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath eternal life, and cometh not into judgment, but hath passed out of death into life.

⁴³ To him bear all the prophets witness, that through his name every one that believeth on him shall receive remission of sins.

¹⁹ Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it speaketh to them that are under the law; that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God:

²⁴ being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: ²⁵ whom God set forth [to be] a propitiation, through faith, in his blood, to show his righteousness because of the passing over of the sins done aforetime, in the forbearance of God; ²⁶ for the showing, [I say], of his righteousness at this present season: that he might himself be just, and the justifier of him that hath faith in Jesus. ²⁷ Where then is the glorying? It is excluded. By what manner of law? of works? Nay: but by a law of faith. ²⁸ We reckon therefore that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. ²⁹ Or is God [the God] of Jews only? is he not [the God] of Gentiles also? Yea, of Gentiles also: ³⁰ if so be that God is one, and he shall justify the circumcision by faith, and the uncircumcision through faith.

⁵ But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is reckoned for righteousness. ⁶ Even as David also pronounceth blessing upon the man, unto whom God reckoneth righteousness apart from works, ⁷ [saying],
Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven,
And whose sins are covered. ⁸ Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not reckon sin.

¹⁵ for the law worketh wrath; but where there is no law, neither is there transgression.

²⁴ but for our sake also, unto whom it shall be reckoned, who believe on him that raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,

¹ Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ;

⁹ Much more then, being now justified by his blood, shall we be saved from the wrath [of God] through him.

²⁰ And the law came in besides, that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace did abound more exceedingly:

⁹ And I was alive apart from the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died; ¹⁰ and the commandment, which [was] unto life, this I found [to be] unto death: ¹¹ for sin, finding occasion, through the commandment beguiled me, and through it slew me.

¹ There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus.

³ For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

³⁰ and whom he foreordained, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
³¹ What then shall we say to these things? If God [is] for us, who [is] against us? ³² He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also with him freely give us all things? ³³ Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth; ³⁴ who is he that condemneth? It is Christ Jesus that died, yea rather, that was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

³¹ but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, did not arrive at [that] law.

⁴ For Christ is the end of the law unto righteousness to every one that believeth.

¹⁰ for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

¹¹ And such were some of you: but ye were washed, but ye were sanctified, but ye were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God.

¹⁶ yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we believed on Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law: because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

¹⁹ For I through the law died unto the law, that I might live unto God.

⁸ And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand unto Abraham, [saying], In thee shall all the nations be blessed.

¹⁰ For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one who continueth not in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them. ¹¹ Now that no man is justified by the law before God, is evident: for, The righteous shall live by faith; ¹² and the law is not of faith; but, He that doeth them shall live in them.

²¹ Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could make alive, verily righteousness would have been of the law. ²² But the scripture shut up all things under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
²³ But before faith came, we were kept in ward under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. ²⁴ So that the law is become our tutor [to bring us] unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. ²⁵ But now that faith is come, we are no longer under a tutor.

³ Yea, I testify again to every man that receiveth circumcision, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.

⁶ as touching zeal, persecuting the church; as touching the righteousness which is in the law, found blameless. ⁷ Howbeit what things were gain to me, these have I counted loss for Christ. ⁸ Yea verily, and I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but refuse, that I may gain Christ, ⁹ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of mine own, [even] that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith:

¹⁹ (for the law made nothing perfect), and a bringing in thereupon of a better hope, through which we draw nigh unto God.

⁹ which [is] a figure for the time present; according to which are offered both gifts and sacrifices that cannot, as touching the conscience, make the worshipper perfect, ¹⁰ [being] only (with meats and drinks and divers washings) carnal ordinances, imposed until a time of reformation.

⁴ For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.

¹¹ And every priest indeed standeth day by day ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, the which can never take away sins:
