³⁷ that saying ye yourselves know, which was published throughout all Judζa, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

¹ And in those days cometh John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judζa, saying, ² Repent ye; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. ³ For this is he that was spoken of through Isaiah the prophet, saying,
The voice of one crying in the wilderness,
Make ye ready the way of the Lord,
Make his paths straight.

¹² Now when he heard that John was delivered up, he withdrew into Galilee; ¹³ and leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the borders of Zebulun and Naphtali: ¹⁴ that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying, ¹⁵ The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,
Toward the sea, beyond the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles, ¹⁶ The people that sat in darkness
Saw a great light,
And to them that sat in the region and shadow of death,
To them did light spring up.
¹⁷ From that time began Jesus to preach, and to say, Repent ye; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

² Even as it is written in Isaiah the prophet,
Behold, I send my messenger before thy face,
Who shall prepare thy way; ³ The voice of one crying in the wilderness,
Make ye ready the way of the Lord,
Make his paths straight; ⁴ John came, who baptized in the wilderness and preached the baptism of repentance unto remission of sins. ⁵ And there went out unto him all the country of Judζa, and all they of Jerusalem; and they were baptized of him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.

¹⁴ Now after John was delivered up, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, ¹⁵ and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe in the gospel.

¹⁴ And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and a fame went out concerning him through all the region round about.

⁵ But they were the more urgent, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Judζa, and beginning from Galilee even unto this place.

¹ When therefore the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John ² (although Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples), ³ he left Judζa, and departed again into Galilee.

²² beginning from the baptism of John, unto the day that he was received up from us, of these must one become a witness with us of his resurrection.

²² Ye men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God unto you by mighty works and wonders and signs which God did by him in the midst of you, even as ye yourselves know;

²⁴ when John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. ²⁵ And as John was fulfilling his course, he said, What suppose ye that I am? I am not [he]. But behold, there cometh one after me the shoes of whose feet I am not worthy to unloose.

²⁶ For the king knoweth of these things, unto whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things is hidden from him; for this hath not been done in a corner.

²² But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, it is known to us that everywhere it is spoken against.
