⁹ Beware that there be not a thought in your wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and your eye be evil against your poor brother, and you give him nothing; and he cry to the LORD against you, and it be sin to you.

⁷ And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;

²³ If you afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all to me, I will surely hear their cry;

¹ At the end of every seven years you shall make a release.

¹⁵ At his day you shall give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down on it; for he is poor, and sets his heart on it: lest he cry against you to the LORD, and it be sin to you.

⁵⁴ So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave: ⁵⁵ So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he has nothing left him in the siege, and in the narrow place, with which your enemies shall distress you in all your gates. ⁵⁶ The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot on the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter,

²⁸ So that they cause the cry of the poor to come to him, and he hears the cry of the afflicted.

¹² When he makes inquisition for blood, he remembers them: he forgets not the cry of the humble.

²³ Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

¹³ Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.

⁶ Eat you not the bread of him that has an evil eye, neither desire you his dainty meats:

⁹ The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.

²² He that hastens to be rich has an evil eye, and considers not that poverty shall come on him.

¹⁰ I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

¹⁹ For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

¹⁵ Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with my own? Is your eye evil, because I am good?

⁴¹ Then shall he say also to them on the left hand, Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: ⁴² For I was an hungered, and you gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink: ⁴³ I was a stranger, and you took me not in: naked, and you clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and you visited me not. ⁴⁴ Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we you an hungered, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to you? ⁴⁵ Then shall he answer them, saying, Truly I say to you, Inasmuch as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.

²¹ For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, ²² Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

⁸ But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, worked in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. ⁹ For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

⁵ Do you think that the scripture said in vain, The spirit that dwells in us lusts to envy?

¹⁷ Therefore to him that knows to do good, and does it not, to him it is sin.

⁴ Behold, the hire of the laborers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, cries: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.

⁹ Grudge not one against another, brothers, lest you be condemned: behold, the judge stands before the door.

⁹ Use hospitality one to another without grudging.

¹⁵ Whoever hates his brother is a murderer: and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. ¹⁶ Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. ¹⁷ But whoever has this world's good, and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwells the love of God in him?
