¹³ And now stays faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

⁵ Happy is he that has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:

²¹ This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. ²² It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. ²³ They are new every morning: great is your faithfulness. ²⁴ The LORD is my portion, said my soul; therefore will I hope in him. ²⁵ The LORD is good to them that wait for him, to the soul that seeks him. ²⁶ It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

²⁹ And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: ³⁰ And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength: this is the first commandment. ³¹ And the second is like, namely this, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

¹³ They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. ¹⁴ And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. ¹⁵ But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

²⁷ And he answering said, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.

³² But I have prayed for you, that your faith fail not: and when you are converted, strengthen your brothers.

⁴ And patience, experience; and experience, hope: ⁵ And hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given to us.

²⁴ For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man sees, why does he yet hope for? ²⁵ But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

¹³ Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

¹⁴ If any man's work abide which he has built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

¹ Now as touching things offered to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but charity edifies.

³ But if any man love God, the same is known of him.

¹ Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. ² And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. ³ And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profits me nothing. ⁴ Charity suffers long, and is kind; charity envies not; charity braggs not itself, is not puffed up, ⁵ Does not behave itself unseemly, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil; ⁶ Rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; ⁷ Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. ⁸ Charity never fails: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

¹ Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that you may prophesy.

¹⁴ Let all your things be done with charity.

¹⁰ For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he has done, whether it be good or bad.

¹⁵ And that he died for all, that they which live should not from now on live to themselves, but to him which died for them, and rose again.

⁶ For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision avails any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which works by love.

¹³ For, brothers, you have been called to liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. ¹⁴ For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; You shall love your neighbor as yourself. ¹⁵ But if you bite and devour one another, take heed that you be not consumed one of another. ¹⁶ This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. ¹⁷ For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that you cannot do the things that you would. ¹⁸ But if you be led of the Spirit, you are not under the law. ¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, ²⁰ Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, jealousies, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, ²¹ Contentions, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. ²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

⁹ And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

⁵ For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;

²⁷ To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

¹⁴ And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfection.

⁸ But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

⁵ Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

⁷ For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

¹¹ And we desire that every one of you do show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope to the end:

¹⁹ Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters into that within the veil;

³⁵ Cast not away therefore your confidence, which has great recompense of reward.

³⁹ But we are not of them who draw back to perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

²¹ Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

¹⁰ He that loves his brother stays in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.

¹⁴ I have written to you, fathers, because you have known him that is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God stays in you, and you have overcome the wicked one.

²⁴ Let that therefore abide in you, which you have heard from the beginning. If that which you have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, you also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

³ And every man that has this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure.

⁹ Whoever is born of God does not commit sin; for his seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

⁷ Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loves is born of God, and knows God. ⁸ He that loves not knows not God; for God is love. ⁹ In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. ¹⁰ Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. ¹¹ Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. ¹² No man has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwells in us, and his love is perfected in us. ¹³ Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. ¹⁴ And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. ¹⁵ Whoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him, and he in God. ¹⁶ And we have known and believed the love that God has to us. God is love; and he that dwells in love dwells in God, and God in him. ¹⁷ Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. ¹⁸ There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear: because fear has torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love.

¹ Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loves him that begat loves him also that is begotten of him. ² By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. ³ For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. ⁴ For whatever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith. ⁵ Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

⁴ I rejoiced greatly that I found of your children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father. ⁵ And now I beseech you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. ⁶ And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.
