² And thy brothers also, the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou near with thee, that they may be joined to thee, and minister to thee, but thou and thy sons with thee shall be before the tent of the testimony.

³⁴ And she conceived again, and bore a son, and said, Now this time my husband will be joined to me, because I have borne him three sons. Therefore his name was called Levi.

⁶ Bring the tribe of Levi near, and set them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister to him. ⁷ And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the tent of meeting, to do the service of the tabernacle. ⁸ And they shall keep all the furniture of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the sons of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle. ⁹ And thou shall give the Levites to Aaron and to his sons. They are wholly given to him on the behalf of the sons of Israel. ¹⁰ And thou shall appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall keep their priesthood. And the stranger who comes near shall be put to death. ¹¹ And LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ¹² And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the sons of Israel instead of all the firstborn who opens the womb among the sons of Israel. And the Levites shall be mine, ¹³ for all the firstborn are mine. On the day that I smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I hallowed to me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast. They shall be mine. I am LORD.

¹⁵ And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary, and all the furniture of the sanctuary, as the camp is set forward, after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear it, but they shall not touch the sanctuary, lest they die. These things are the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tent of meeting.

¹⁹ And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the sons of Israel, to do the service of the sons of Israel in the tent of meeting, and to make atonement for the sons of Israel, that there be no plague among the sons of Israel, when the sons of Israel come near to the sanctuary.

²² And after that the Levites went in to do their service in the tent of meeting before Aaron, and before his sons. As LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did to them.

⁴⁰ to be a memorial to the sons of Israel, to the end that no stranger, who is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to burn incense before LORD, that he not be as Korah, and as his company, as LORD spoke to him by Moses.

⁷ And Moses laid up the rods before LORD in the tent of the testimony.

⁴ And they shall be joined to thee, and keep the charge of the tent of meeting, for all the service of the tent, and a stranger shall not come near to you.

³⁹ and Zadok the priest, and his brothers the priests, before the tabernacle of LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon, ⁴⁰ to offer burnt offerings to LORD upon the altar of burnt offering continually morning and evening, even according to all that is written in the law of LORD, which he commanded to Israel.

¹⁶ And they stood in their place after their order, according to the law of Moses the man of God; the priests sprinkled the blood which they received from the hand of the Levites.

¹⁵ But the priests the Levites, the sons of Zadok, who kept the charge of my sanctuary when the sons of Israel went astray from me, they shall come near to me to minister to me. And they shall stand before me to offer to me the fat and the blood, says the lord LORD:
