⁴³ The king of Babylon has heard the news of them, and his hands grow feeble. Anguish has taken hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in travail.

⁶ Wail ye, for the day of LORD is at hand. It shall come as destruction from the Almighty. ⁷ Therefore all hands shall be feeble, and every heart of man shall melt. ⁸ And they shall be dismayed. Pangs and sorrows shall take hold. They shall be in pain as a woman in travail. They shall look in amazement one at another, their faces, faces of flame.

³ Therefore my loins are filled with anguish. Pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman in travail. I am pained so that I cannot hear. I am dismayed so that I cannot see. ⁴ My heart flutters. Horror has frightened me. The twilight that I desired has been turned into trembling to me.

²² Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread out his wings against Bozrah. And the heart of the mighty men of Edom at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.

²⁴ Damascus has grown feeble. She turns herself to flee, and trembling has seized on her. Anguish and sorrows have taken hold of her, as of a woman in travail.

³¹ One post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to met another, to show the king of Babylon that his city is taken on every quarter.

⁵ In the same hour the fingers of a man's hand came forth, and wrote opposite the lampstand upon the plaster of the wall of the king's palace. And the king saw the part of the hand that wrote. ⁶ Then the king's countenance was changed in him, and his thoughts troubled him. And the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.
