¹ At the end of every seven years thou shall make a release.

² If thou buy a Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve, and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.

¹⁰ And six years thou shall sow thy land, and shall gather in the increase of it, ¹¹ but the seventh year thou shall let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of thy people may eat, and what they leave the beast of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shall deal with thy vineyard, and with thy oliveyard.

² Speak to the sons of Israel, and say to them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a sabbath to LORD. ³ Six years thou shall sow thy field, and six years thou shall prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruits of it, ⁴ but in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a sabbath to LORD. Thou shall neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard.

¹⁰ And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the set time of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles,

¹ The Spirit of the lord LORD is upon me, because LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, and the opening of bonds to those who are bound, ² to proclaim the acceptable year of LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, ³ to appoint to those who mourn in Zion, to give to them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of LORD, that he may be glorified.

⁸ And Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of LORD in LORD's house. ⁹ Now it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, that all the people in Jerusalem, and all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem, proclaimed a fast before LORD. ¹⁰ Then Baruch read in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of LORD, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan, the scribe, in the upper court, at the entry of the new gate of LORD's house, in the ears of all the people. ¹¹ And when Micaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard out of the book all the words of LORD, ¹² he went down into the king's house, into the scribe's chamber. And, lo, all the rulers were sitting there: Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the rulers. ¹³ Then Micaiah declared to them all the words that he had heard when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people. ¹⁴ Therefore all the rulers sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, Take in thy hand the roll from which thou have read in the ears of the people, and come. So Baruch the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came to them. ¹⁵ And they said to him, Sit down now, and read it in our ears. So Baruch read it in their ears. ¹⁶ Now it came to pass, when they had heard all the words, they turned in fear one toward another, and said to Baruch, We will surely tell the king of all these words. ¹⁷ And they asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How did thou write all these words at his mouth? ¹⁸ Then Baruch answered them, He pronounced all these words to me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.

¹⁸ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to sent forth in deliverance those who have been broken, ¹⁹ to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.
