²⁹ whatever prayer and supplication be made by any man, or by all thy people Israel, who shall know every man his own plague and his own sorrow, and shall spread forth his hands toward this house,

¹² And he stood before the altar of LORD in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread forth his hands. ¹³ For Solomon had made a brazen scaffold, five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court. And upon it he stood, and knelt down upon his knees before all the assembly of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven.

² Blessed is the man to whom LORD does not impute sin, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. ³ When I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my groaning all the day long. ⁴ For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me. My moisture was changed as with the drought of summer. Selah. ⁵ I acknowledged my sin to thee, and I did not hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to LORD, and thou forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah. ⁶ For this let everyone who is devout pray to thee in a time when thou may be found. Surely when the great waters overflow they shall not reach to him.

¹² Blessed is the nation whose God is LORD, the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance. ¹³ LORD looks from heaven. He beholds all the sons of men.

¹⁵ And call upon me in the day of trouble. I will deliver thee, and thou shall glorify me.

¹⁵ He shall call upon me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him, and honor him.

¹ I cry with my voice to LORD. With my voice to LORD I make supplication. ² I pour out my complaint before him. I show my trouble before him.

¹⁰ The heart knows its own bitterness, and a stranger does not intermeddle with its joy.

¹⁵ And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you. Yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear; your hands are full of blood.
