³ And as he sat on the mount of the Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying: Tell us, when will these things be, and what is the sign of thy coming and of the end of the world?

¹⁰ And the disciples came and said to him: Why dost thou speak to them in parables? ¹¹ And he answering said to them: To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven; but to them it is not given.

³⁶ Then having sent away the multitudes, he went into the house. And his disciples came to him, saying: Explain to us the parable of the darnel of the field.

³⁹ and the enemy that sowed them is the Devil. The harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are angels. ⁴⁰ As therefore the darnel are gathered up and are burned with fire, so shall it be in the end of the world.

⁴⁹ So will it be in the end of the world. The angels will go forth, and will separate the wicked from among the just,

¹² Then came to him his disciples, and said to him: Knowest thou that the Pharisees, when they heard the saying, were offended?

¹⁹ Then the disciples, coming to Jesus apart, said: Why could not we cast him out?

¹ AND when they drew near to Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the mount of the Olives, Jesus sent forth two disciples,

²⁷ For as the lightning comes forth from the east, and shines even unto the west, so shall be the coming of the Son of man.

³² And learn the parable from the fig-tree: When its branch is already become tender, and puts forth leaves, ye know that the summer is near. ³³ So also ye, when ye see all these things, know that it is near, at the doors.

³⁷ But as the days of Noah, so shall be also the coming of the Son of man.

³⁹ and knew not until the flood came, and took all away; so shall be also the coming of the Son of man.

⁴³ But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken through.

²⁰ teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And, behold, I am with you alway, unto the end of the world.

³ And as he was sitting on the mount of the Olives, over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately: ⁴ Tell us, when will these things be? And what is the sign when all these things are about to be accomplished.

⁷ And they asked him, saying: Teacher, when therefore will these things be, and what will be the sign when these things are about to come to pass?

²¹ Peter seeing him says to Jesus: Lord, and what shall this man do? ²² Jesus says to him: If I will that he remain till I come, what is it to thee? Do thou follow me.

⁷ And he said to them: It is not yours to know times or seasons, which the Father appointed by his own authority.

¹ BUT of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write to you. ² For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. ³ For when they shall say, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. ⁴ But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you as a thief. ⁵ For all ye are sons of light, and sons of day; we are not of night, nor of darkness. ⁶ So then let us not sleep, as others; but let us watch and be sober. ⁷ For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that are drunken, are drunken in the night. ⁸ But let us, being of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet, the hope of salvation; ⁹ because God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ; ¹⁰ who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. ¹¹ Wherefore encourage each other, and edify one the other, as also ye do.

²⁶ for then must he many times have suffered since the foundation of the world; but now once, in the end of the ages, he has been manifested for the putting away of sin by the sacrifice of himself.
