¹³ And when it was day, he called to him his disciples. And having chosen from them twelve (whom he named also apostles);

³⁶ And seeing the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed, and scattered, as sheep having no shepherd.

²⁸ And Jesus said to them: Verily I say to you, that ye who followed me, in the renovation, when the Son of man shall sit on his throne of glory, shall also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

¹³ And he goes up into the mountain, and calls to him whom he would; and they went to him. ¹⁴ And he appointed twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, ¹⁵ and to have authority to heal sicknesses, and to cast out demons. ¹⁶ And Simon he surnamed Peter; ¹⁷ and James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, Sons of thunder; ¹⁸ and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alpheus, and Thaddeus, and Simon the Cananite, ¹⁹ and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. ⁷ And he called to him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them authority over the unclean spirits;

³⁰ And the apostles gather together unto Jesus; and they reported to him all things, both what they did, and what they taught.

¹ AND having called the twelve together, he gave them power and authority over all the demons, and to cure diseases. ² And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

⁴⁹ Therefore also said the wisdom of God: I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will slay and persecute;

³⁰ that ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom; and ye shall sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

²⁰ Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye saints, ye apostles, and ye prophets; because God judged your cause upon her.

¹⁴ And the wall of the city had twelve foundation-stones, and on them twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
