¹ BRETHREN, even if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye who are spiritual restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

¹³ But go, and learn what this means: I desire mercy and not sacrifice; for I came not to call righteous men, but sinners.

²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest for your souls.

¹² What think ye? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them is gone astray, does he not leave the ninety and nine upon the mountains, and go and seek that which is gone astray? ¹³ And if it be that he find it, verily I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety and nine that went not astray. ¹⁴ So it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven, that one of these little ones perish. ¹⁵ But if thy brother shall sin against thee, go show him his fault between thee and him alone, If he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

⁶⁹ And Peter was sitting without, in the court. And a damsel came to him, saying: Thou also wast with Jesus the Galilaean.

⁷⁵ And Peter remembered the word of Jesus when he said: Before a cock crows, thou wilt thrice deny me. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

⁴ What man of you, having a hundred sheep, and having lost one of them, does not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he finds it? ⁵ And having found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. ⁶ And coming home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them: Rejoice with me; because I found my sheep which was lost. ⁷ I say to you, that so there will be joy in heaven over one sinner that repents, more than over ninety and nine just persons, who have no need of repentance.

²² But the father said to his servants: Bring forth a robe, the best, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and sandals on his feet; ²³ and bring the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat and be merry. ²⁴ Because this my son was dead and is alive again, was lost and is found. And they began to be merry. ²⁵ Now his elder son was in the field. And as he came, and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. ²⁶ And calling to him one of the servants, he inquired what these things meant. ²⁷ And he said to him: Thy brother is come; and thy father killed the fatted calf, because he received him back, safe and sound. ²⁸ And he was angry, and would not go in; and his father came out, and entreated him. ²⁹ And he answering said to his father: Lo, so many years do I serve thee, and never transgressed thy command; and to me thou never gayest a kid, that I might make merry with my friends. ³⁰ But when this thy son came, who devoured thy living with harlots, thou didst kill for him the fatted calf. ³¹ And he said to him: Child, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. ³² It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad; because this thy brother was dead and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

⁶ For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

¹ HIM that is weak in faith receive; not for the decision of disputes.

¹ Now we that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

¹⁵ But he that is spiritual judges all things; but he himself is judged by no one.

¹ I ALSO, brethren, was not able to speak to you as spiritual, but as carnal, as babes in Christ.

²¹ What will ye? Shall I come to you with a rod, or in love, and the spirit of meekness?

⁵ Defraud not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer, and come again together, that Satan may not tempt you on account of your incontinency.

¹² Wherefore let him that thinks he stands, take heed lest he fall.

³⁷ If any one thinks himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the Lord's commandments.

⁷ So that, on the contrary, ye ought rather to forgive and console him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.

¹ NOW I, Paul, myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence indeed am lowly among you, but being absent am bold toward you;

¹¹ But when Cephas came to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was blamed. ¹² For before certain ones came from James, he ate with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision. ¹³ And the other Jews also dissembled with him, so that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.

²³ meekness, temperance; against such things there is no law.

¹⁵ And count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

²⁵ in meekness admonishing those who oppose themselves; if haply God may give them repentance unto the full knowledge of the truth;

¹³ and make straight paths for your feet, that the lame be not turned out of the way, but rather be healed.

³ Remember those in bonds, as bound with them; those in adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

² For in many things we all offend. If any one offends not in word, the same is a perfect man, able to bridle also the whole body.

¹³ Who is wise and endued with knowledge among you? Let him show, out of his good deportment, his works in meekness of wisdom.

¹⁹ Brethren, if any one among you be led astray from the truth, and one convert him; ²⁰ let him know, that he who converts a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death, and will hide a multitude of sins.

¹⁵ but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts; ready always to give an answer to every one that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;

¹⁶ If any one see his brother sin a sin not unto death, he shall ask, and he will give him life,—to those who sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death; for that I do not say that he shall pray.

²² And some refute when they are contending; but others save, snatching them out of the fire; ²³ and others compassionate with fear, hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
