Galatians 4 Cross References - ABU

1 NOW I say, as long as the heir is a child, he differs in nothing from a servant though he is lord of all; 2 but is under guardians and stewards, until the time appointed by the father. 3 So also we, when we were children, were held in bondage under the elements of the world. 4 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth his son, born of a woman, born under law, 5 that he might redeem those under law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. 6 And because ye are sons, God sent forth the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7 So that thou art no longer a servant, but a son; and if a son, also an heir through God. 8 But at that time indeed, when ye knew not God, ye served those which are not in their nature gods. 9 But now, after having known God, or rather having been known by God, how is it that ye turn back again to the weak and poor elements, to which ye desire to be in bondage again anew? 10 Do ye carefully observe days, and months, and seasons, and years? 11 I am afraid of you, lest by any means I have bestowed labor upon you in vain. 12 Become as I am, for I also became as ye are, brethren, I beseech you. Ye injured me in nothing. 13 Nay, ye know that by reason of weakness of the flesh I preached the glad tidings to you the former time; 14 and my trial, which was in my flesh, ye despised not nor spurned, but received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus. 15 Where is then the happiness of which ye spoke? For I bear you witness, that if possible, ye would have plucked out your eyes, and given them to me. 16 So then, have I become your enemy, because I tell you the truth? 17 They zealously seek you, not well; but they wish to exclude you, that ye may zealously seek them. 18 But it is good to be zealously sought in a good cause always, and not only when I am present with you. 19 My little children, of whom I travail again in birth, until Christ be formed in you! 20 And I could wish to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I am perplexed on account of you. 21 Tell me, ye who desire to be under law, do ye not hear the law? 22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, one by the bondwoman, and one by the freewoman. 23 But the one by the bondwoman was born after the flesh, and the one by the freewoman through the promise. 24 Which things are an allegory. For these women are two covenants, one from mount Sinai, bearing children into bondage, 25 which is Hagar (for the word Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia), and answers to the Jerusalem that now is, for she is in bondage with her children. 26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, which is the mother of us all. 27 For it is written: Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; Break forth and cry, thou that travailest not; Because many are the children of the desolate, rather than of her who has the husband. 28 But ye, brethren, after the manner of Isaac, are children of promise. 29 But as then, the one born after the flesh persecuted the one born after the spirit, so also is it now. 30 But what says the Scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son; for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the free-woman. 31 So then, brethren, we are not children of a bondwoman, but of the freewoman.

20 For I fear, lest haply, when I come, I shall find you not such as I would, and I too shall be found by you such as ye would not; lest there be wranglings, envyings, wraths, rivalries, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults; 21 lest, when I come again, my God shall humble me among you, and I shall bewail many of those who have sinned before, and repented not of the uncleanness, and fornication, and wantonness, which they committed.

1 Corinthians 9:20-23

20 And to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain Jews; to those under law, as under law, not being myself under law, that I might gain those under law; 21 to those without law, as without law (not being without law to God, but under law to Christ), that I might gain those without law. 22 To the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak. I have become all things to all, that I may by all means save some. 23 And all things I do for the gospel's sake, that I may become a partaker thereof with others.

2 Corinthians 12:7-10

7 And that I might not be exalted overmuch through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, that I might not be exalted overmuch. 8 Concerning this I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9 And he said to me: My grace is sufficient for thee; for my power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may abide upon me. 10 Wherefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then I am powerful.

2 Corinthians 13:4

4 For even if he was crucified through weakness, yet he lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.

6 As also David speaks of the happiness of the man, to whom God reckons righteousness, apart from works: 7 Happy they, whose iniquities were forgiven, And whose sins were covered; 8 Happy the man to whom the Lord will not reckon sin! 9 Comes this happiness then on the circumcision, or also on he uncircumcision? Galatians 6:12-13

12 As many as desire to make a fair show in the flesh, these constrain you to be circumcised; only that they may not suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. 13 For neither do they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but they desire that ye should be circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.

1 Thessalonians 2:17-18

17 But we, brethren, having been severed from you for a short time, in presence, not in heart, endeavored the more abundantly to see your face, with great desire. 18 Wherefore we would fain have come to you, even I, Paul, once and again; and Satan hindered us.

42 Jesus says to them: Did ye never read in the Scriptures: The stone which the builders disallowed, The same is become the head of the corner; This is from the Lord, And is wonderful in our eyes. 43 Therefore I say to you, that the kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. 44 And he that falls upon this stone will be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

Matthew 22:29-32

29 Jesus answering said to them: Ye err, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. 31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying: 32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

Romans 6:14

14 For sin shall not have dominion over you; for ye are not under law, but under grace.

Romans 7:5-6

5 For when we were in the flesh, the emotions of sins, which were by the law, wrought in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. 6 But now we are delivered from the law, having died to that wherein we were held; so that we serve in newness of spirit, and not in oldness of the letter.

Romans 9:30-32

30 What then shall we say? That Gentiles, who were not following after righteousness, obtained righteousness, the righteousness which is of faith; 31 but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, attained not to [such] a law. 32 Wherefore? Because [they sought it] not by faith, but as being by works of law. For they stumbled against the stone of stumbling;

Romans 10:3-10

3 For not knowing the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they did not submit themselves to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness, to every one that believes. 5 For Moses describes the righteousness which is of the law: The man that has done them, shall live by them. 6 But the righteousness which is of faith says thus: Say not in thy heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down;) 7 or, Who shall descend into the abyss? (that is, to bring up Christ from the dead.) 8 But what says it? The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart; that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 because, if thou shalt profess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth profession is made unto salvation.

Galatians 3:10

10 For as many as are of works of law are under a curse; for it is written: Cursed is every one that continues not in all the things written in the book of the law, to do them.

Galatians 3:23-24

23 But before faith came, we were guarded under law, shut up unto the faith which was to be revealed. 24 So that the law has become our schoolmaster, unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Romans 4:18-21

18 who against hope believed in hope, that he should become father of many nations, according to that which was spoken: So shall thy seed be. 19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body already dead, being about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah's womb. 20 And in respect to the promise of God he wavered not through unbelief, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully persuaded, that what he has promised he is able also to perform.

Romans 9:7-8

7 neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children; but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. 8 That is, not they who are the children of the flesh are children of God; but the children of the promise are reckoned as seed.

8 But what says it? The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart; that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

Galatians 4:28-29

28 But ye, brethren, after the manner of Isaac, are children of promise. 29 But as then, the one born after the flesh persecuted the one born after the spirit, so also is it now.

1 Corinthians 10:11

11 Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come.

Galatians 3:15-21

15 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men. If a covenant has been confirmed, though it be a man's, no one sets it aside, or adds thereto. 16 Now to Abraham were the promises spoken, and to his seed. He says not, and to seeds, as concerning many; but as concerning one, and to thy seed, which is Christ. 17 But this I say, that a covenant before confirmed by God, the law, which came four hundred and thirty years after, does not annul, to make the promise of no effect. 18 For if the inheritance is of law, it is no more of promise; but God has freely given it to Abraham by promise. 19 What then is the law? It was added because of the transgressions, until the seed should come to whom the promise has been made; having been ordained through angels, by the hand of a mediator. 20 Now the mediator is not of one; but God is one. 21 Is then the law against the promises of God? Far be it! For if a law had been given which is able to make alive, truly righteousness would have been of law.

Galatians 5:1

1 STAND fast, therefore, in the liberty with which Christ made us free, and be not again entangled with the yoke of bondage.

Hebrews 7:22

22 by so much has Jesus become a surety of a better covenant.

Hebrews 8:6-13

6 But now he has obtained a more excellent ministry, by so much as he is also mediator of a better covenant, which has been established upon better promises. 7 For if that first had been faultless, a place would not have been sought for the second. 8 For finding fault with them, he says: Behold the days are coming, saith the Lord, When I will make with the house of Israel, And with the house of Judah, a new covenant; 9 Not according to the covenant that I made for their fathers, In the day when I took hold of their hand, To bring them out of the land of Egypt; Because they continued not in my covenant, And I regarded them not, saith the Lord. 10 For this is the covenant that I will establish for the house of Israel, After those days, saith the Lord, Putting my laws into their mind, And on their hearts I will write them; And I will be to them a God, And they shall be to me a people; 11 And they shall not teach, Each one his neighbor, and each one his brother, Saying: Know the Lord; Because all shall know me, from the least to the greatest; 12 Because I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, And their sins and their iniquities I will remember no more. 13 In that he says, A new, he has made the first old. Now that which is grown old, and worn out with age, is ready to vanish away.

Hebrews 9:15-24

15 And for this cause he is mediator of a new covenant, in order that, death having taken place, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, they who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. 16 For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be brought in the death of the testator. 17 For a testament is of force after men are dead; since it is of no strength at all while the testator lives. 18 Wherefore, neither has the first been dedicated without blood. 19 For, when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of the calves and of the goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, saying: 20 This is the blood of the covenant, which God enjoined in respect to you. 21 And moreover, the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the service, he in like manner sprinkled with blood. 22 And nearly all things are cleansed according to the law with blood; and without shedding of blood there is no remission. 23 It was therefore necessary, that the outlines of things in the heavens should be cleansed with these; but the heavenly things themselves, with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Christ entered not into holy places made with hands, figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us;

Hebrews 10:15-18

15 Moreover, the Holy Spirit also is a witness to us; for after he had said, 16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, putting my laws upon their hearts, and on their minds I will write them, [he further says,] 17 and their sins and iniquities I will remember no more. 18 But where there is remission of these, there is no longer offering for sin.

12 He that overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go out no more; and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from my God, and my new name.

Revelation 17:5

5 And upon her forehead was a name written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF THE HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

Revelation 21:2

2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Revelation 21:10-27

10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God; her luminary like to a most precious stone, as it were to a jasper stone, clear as crystal; 12 having a wall great and high; having twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel; 13 on the east three gates, and on the north three gates, and on the south three gates, and on the west three gates. 14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundation-stones, and on them twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. 15 And he who talked with me had a golden reed for a measure, that he might measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof. 16 And the city lies foursquare, and its length is as great as the breadth. And he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length, and the breadth, and the height of it are equal. 17 And he measured the wall thereof, a hundred and forty-four cubits, the measure of a man, which is that of an angel. 18 And the structure of its wall was jasper; and the city was pure gold, like to pure glass. 19 The foundation-stones of the wall of the city were adorned with every precious stone. The first foundation-stone was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald; 20 the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprasus; the eleventh, hyacinth; the twelfth, amethyst. 21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each several gate was of one pearl; and the street of the city was pure gold, as transparent glass. 22 And I saw in it no temple; for the Lord God the Almighty is its temple, and the Lamb. 23 And the city has no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine on it; for the glory of God lightened it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. 24 And the nations will walk by its light; and the kings of the earth bring their glory into it. 25 And its gates will not be shut by day; for there will be no night there; 26 and they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. 27 And there shall not enter into it any thing unclean, or that works abomination or falsehood; but they who are written in the Lamb's book of life.

1 Timothy 5:5

5 Now she that is a widow indeed, and left alone, has set her hope on God, and continues in supplications and prayers, night and day.

Acts 3:25

25 Ye are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham: And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed.

Romans 4:13-18

13 For not through law was the promise to Abraham, or to his seed, that he should be heir of the world, but through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if they that are of law are heirs, faith is made void, and the promise is made of no effect. 15 For the law works wrath; for where there is no law, neither is there transgression. 16 For this cause it is of faith, that it may be by grace; in order that the promise may be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, 17 (as it is written: A father of many nations have I made thee,) before God whom he believed, who quickens the dead, and calls the things that are not as though they were; 18 who against hope believed in hope, that he should become father of many nations, according to that which was spoken: So shall thy seed be.

Romans 9:8-9

8 That is, not they who are the children of the flesh are children of God; but the children of the promise are reckoned as seed. 9 For the word of promise is this: At this season I will come, and Sarah shall have a son.

Galatians 3:29

29 And if ye are Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, heirs according to the promise.

Matthew 23:34-37

34 Therefore, behold, I send forth to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes; and some of them ye will kill and crucify, and some of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city; 35 that on you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Barachiah, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. 36 Verily I say to you, all these things shall come upon this generation. 37 Jerusalem! Jerusalem! that killest the prophets, and stonest those sent to her; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

John 3:5

5 Jesus answered: Verily, verily, I say to thee, except a man be born of water and the Spirit, he can not enter into the kingdom of God.

John 15:9

9 As the Father loved me, I also loved you; abide in my love.

Romans 8:1

1 THERE is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:13

13 For if ye live according to the flesh, ye shall die; but if by the Spirit ye mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Galatians 5:11

11 But as for me, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then has the offense of the cross ceased.

Galatians 6:12-14

12 As many as desire to make a fair show in the flesh, these constrain you to be circumcised; only that they may not suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. 13 For neither do they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but they desire that ye should be circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. 14 But far be it from me to glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom the world is crucified to me, and I to the world.

1 Thessalonians 2:14-15

14 For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which are in Judaea in Christ Jesus; for ye also suffered the same things of your own countrymen, as they have of the Jews; 15 who both killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us forth, and please not God, and are contrary to all men;

Hebrews 10:33-34

33 partly, whilst ye were made a spectacle both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became partakers with those who were so used. 34 For ye sympathized with those in bonds, and ye took joyfully the plundering of your goods, knowing that ye have for yourselves a better and an enduring substance.

John 8:35

35 And the servant abides not in the house forever.

Romans 4:3

3 For what says the Scripture? And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him for righteousness.

Romans 11:2

2 God did not cast away his people whom he foreknew. Know ye not what the Scripture says in the story of Elijah; how he pleads with God against Israel, saying:

Romans 11:7-11

7 What then? What Israel seeks after, that he obtained not; but the election obtained it, and the rest were hardened. 8 According as it is written: God gave them a spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, unto this day. 9 And David says: Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, And a stumbling-block, and a recompense to them; 10 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, And bow down their back alway. 11 I say then, did they stumble in order that they should fall? Far be it! But by their fall salvation is come to the Gentiles, to provoke them to jealousy.

Galatians 3:8

8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God justifies the Gentiles by faith, announced beforehand the glad tidings to Abraham, saying: In thee shall all the nations be blessed.

Galatians 3:22

22 But the Scripture shut up all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

James 4:5

5 Do ye think that the Scripture says in vain, the spirit he made to dwell in us has jealous longings?

John 1:12-13

12 But as many as received him, to them he gave power to become children of God, to those who believe on his name; 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Galatians 5:13

13 For ye were called unto liberty, brethren; only use not the liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

Hebrews 2:14-15

14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself in like manner took part in the same; that through death he might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the Devil; 15 and might deliver those who, through fear of death, were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

1 John 3:1-2

1 BEHOLD what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. For this cause the world knows not us, because it knew not him. 2 Beloved, now are we the children of God, and it was never yet manifested what we shall be. We know that if it shall be manifested, we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.
