AUV⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹⁶ When Herod saw that he had been tricked by the astrologer/sages, he was furious and sent out [his soldiers] to kill all the baby boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity. NSB⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹⁶ Herod saw that the astrologers tricked him and he was furious. He sent soldiers to kill all the boys two years old and younger in or near Bethlehem. This matched the time he learned from the astrologers. ¹⁷ Jeremiah’s prophecy came true: ¹⁸ »A sound was heard in Ramah, the sound of crying in bitter grief. Rachel is weeping for her children. She would not be comforted, because they were dead.« ¹⁹ After Herod died God’s angel appeared in a dream to Joseph who was in Egypt. ²⁰ The angel told him: »Take the child and his mother and go to Israel. Those who tried to kill the child are dead.«

Arabic⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹⁶ حينئذ لما رأى هيرودس ان المجوس سخروا به غضب جدا. فارسل وقتل جميع الصبيان الذين في بيت لحم وفي كل تخومها من ابن سنتين فما دون بحسب الزمان الذي تحققه من المجوس. ¹⁷ حينئذ تم ما قيل بارميا النبي القائل. ¹⁸ صوت سمع في الرامة نوح وبكاء وعويل كثير. راحيل تبكي على اولادها ولا تريد ان تتعزى لانهم ليسوا بموجودين ¹⁹ فلما مات هيرودس اذا ملاك الرب قد ظهر في حلم ليوسف في مصر ²⁰ قائلا. قم وخذ الصبي وامه واذهب الى ارض اسرائيل. لانه قد مات الذين كانوا يطلبون نفس الصبي.

Amharic⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹⁶ ከዚህ በኋላ ሄሮድስ ሰብአ ሰገል እንደ ተሣለቁበት ባየ ጊዜ እጅግ ተቆጣና ልኮ ከሰብአ ሰገል እንደ ተረዳው ዘመን በቤተ ልሔምና በአውራጃዋ የነበሩትን፥ ሁለት ዓመት የሆናቸውን ከዚያም የሚያንሱትን ሕፃናት ሁሉ አስገደለ። ¹⁷ ያን ጊዜ በነቢዩ በኤርምያስ፥ ድምፅ በራማ ተሰማ፥ ልቅሶና ብዙ ዋይታ፤ ራሔል ስለ ልጆችዋ አለቀሰች፥ መጽናናትም አልወደደችም፥ የሉምና የተባለው ተፈጸመ። ¹⁹ ሄሮድስም ከሞተ በኋላ፥ እነሆ፥ የጌታ መልአክ በግብፅ ለዮሴፍ በሕልም ታይቶ። ²⁰ የሕፃኑን ነፍስ የፈለጉት ሞተዋልና ተነሣ፥ ሕፃኑን እናቱንም ይዘህ ወደ እስራኤል አገር ሂድ አለ።
