And how should I lift up my face to Joab? 23 And what does this mean? Return to Joab your brother? But he would not stand away; and Abner struck him with the blunt end of the spear on his loins, and the spear went out behind him, and he fell down there and died on the spot. And it came to pass that everyone that came to the place where Asahel fell and died, stood still.
LXX2012(i) 19 And Asael followed after Abenner, and turned not to go to the right hand or to the left from following Abenner. 20 And Abenner looked behind him, and said, Are you Asael himself? and he said, I am. 21 And Abenner said to him, Turn you to the right hand or to the left, and lay hold for yourself on one of the young men, and take to yourself his armor: but Asel would not turn back from following him. 22 And Abenner said yet again to Asael, Stand aloof from me, lest I strike you to the ground? and how should I lift up my face to Joab? 23 And what does this mean? return to Joab your brother? But he would not stand aloof; and Abenner smites him with the hinder end of the spear on the loins, and the spear went out behind him, and he falls there and dies on the spot: and it came to pass that every one that came to the place where Asael fell and died, stood still.
NSB(i) 19 So Asahel started chasing Abner. He ran straight for him. 20 Abner looked behind and asked: »Are you Asahel?« He answered: »I am.« 21 Abner said: »Soldiers are all around us. Stop chasing me and fight one of them! Kill him and take his clothes and weapons for yourself.« But Asahel refused to stop. 22 Abner spoke again to Asahel: »If you do not turn back, I will have to kill you! Then I could never face your brother Joab again.« 23 However, Asahel would not turn back. So Abner struck him in the stomach with the back end of his spear. The spear went all the way through and came out of his back. Asahel fell down and died. Everyone who saw Asahel lying dead just stopped and stood still.
ISV(i) 19 So Asahel ran straight after Abner, following him. 20 When Abner looked behind him, he said, “Is that you, Asahel?”
He answered, “I am.”

23 But Asahel refused to turn away, so Abner struck Asahel in the abdomen with the butt end of his spear, and the spear protruded through his back. He collapsed to the ground and died where he fell. Everyone gathered round the place where Asahel had collapsed and died, and stood still there.
LEB(i) 19 So Asahel pursued* Abner, and he did not turn aside to the right or to the left from going after Abner. 20 Abner turned around and said, "Are you this Asahel?" And he said, "Yes." 21 Abner said to him, "Turn aside to your right or to your left; seize for yourself one of the young men, and take his belongings for yourself." But Asahel was not willing to turn aside from him. 22 So Abner said to Asahel once again,* "For your own sake,* turn aside from following me.* Why should I strike you down to the ground? How could I show my face* to Joab your brother?" 23 But he refused to turn away, so Abner struck him in the stomach with the butt of the spear, and the spear went out of his back. Why should I strike you to the ground? How could I show my face to your brother Joab?” 23 But Asahel refused to turn away; so Abner thrust the butt of his spear into his stomach, and it came out his back, and he fell dead on the spot. But Asael would not turn aside from following him. 22 so Abner told Asahel again, "Stop following me. Why should I strike you down? How could I show my face to your brother Joab?" 23 But he would not desist. So Abenner smote him with a back stroke of his spear, into the loin, and the spear passed quite through him, and he fell there and died under him.
