Deuteronomy 21 If one shall be found slain in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it, lying in the field , and it be not known who hath slain him:

2 H2205 Then thy elders H8199 [H8802] and thy judges H3318 [H8804] shall come forth H4058 [H8804] , and they shall measure H5892 to the cities H5439 which are around H2491 him that is slain:

3 H5892 And it shall be, that the city H7138 which is next H2491 to the slain man H2205 , even the elders H5892 of that city H3947 [H8804] shall take H1241 H5697 an heifer H5647 [H8795] , which hath not been worked H4900 [H8804] , and which hath not pulled H5923 the yoke;

4 H2205 And the elders H5892 of that city H3381 [H8689] shall bring down H5697 the heifer H386 to a rough H5158 valley H5647 [H8735] , which is neither tilled H2232 [H8735] nor sown H6202 0 , and shall strike off H5697 the heifer's H6202 [H8804] neck H5158 there in the valley:

5 H3548 And the priests H1121 the sons H3878 of Levi H5066 [H8738] shall come near H3068 ; for them the LORD H430 thy God H977 [H8804] hath chosen H8334 [H8763] to minister H1288 [H8763] to him, and to bless H8034 in the name H3068 of the LORD H6310 ; and by their word H7379 shall every controversy H5061 and every stroke be tried:

6 H2205 And all the elders H5892 of that city H7138 , that are next H2491 to the slain H7364 [H8799] man, shall wash H3027 their hands H5697 over the heifer H6202 [H8803] that is beheaded H5158 in the valley:

7 H6030 [H8804] And they shall answer H559 [H8804] and say H3027 , Our hands H8210 [H8804] have not shed H1818 this blood H5869 , neither have our eyes H7200 [H8804] seen it.

8 H3722 [H8761] Be merciful H3068 , O LORD H5971 , to thy people H3478 Israel H6299 [H8804] , whom thou hast redeemed H5414 [H8799] , and lay H5355 not innocent H1818 blood H7130 to the charge H5971 of thy people H3478 Israel H1818 . And the blood H3722 [H8694] shall be forgiven them.

9 H1197 [H8762] So shalt thou remove H5355 the guilt of innocent H1818 blood H7130 from among H6213 [H8799] you, when thou shalt do H3477 that which is right H5869 in the sight H3068 of the LORD.

10 H3318 [H8799] When thou goest forth H4421 to war H341 [H8802] against thy enemies H3068 , and the LORD H430 thy God H5414 [H8804] hath delivered H3027 them into thy hands H7617 [H8804] , and thou hast taken H7628 them captive,

11 H7200 [H8804] And thou seest H7633 among the captives H8389 H3303 a beautiful H802 woman H2836 [H8804] , and hast a desire H3947 [H8804] to her, that thou wouldest have her H802 for thy wife;

12 H935 [H8689] Then thou shalt bring H8432 her home H1004 to thy house H1548 [H8765] ; and she shall shave H7218 her head H6213 [H8804] , and pare H6856 her nails;

13 H5493 [H8689] And she shall put H8071 off from her the raiment H7628 of her captivity H3427 [H8804] , and shall remain H1004 in thy house H1058 [H8804] , and bewail H1 her father H517 and her mother H3117 a full H3391 month H310 : and after H935 [H8799] that thou shalt go H1166 [H8804] in to her, and be her husband H802 , and she shall be thy wife.

14 H2654 [H8804] And it shall be, if thou shalt have no delight H7971 [H8765] in her, then thou shalt let her go H5315 where she will H4376 [H8799] ; but thou shalt not sell H4376 [H8800] her at all H3701 for money H6014 [H8691] , thou shalt not make merchandise H834 of her, because H6031 [H8765] thou hast humbled her.

15 H376 If a man H8147 shall have two H802 wives H259 , one H157 [H8803] beloved H259 , and another H8130 [H8803] hated H3205 [H8804] , and they have borne H1121 him children H157 [H8803] , both the beloved H8130 [H8803] and the hated H1060 ; and if the firstborn H1121 son H8146 be hers that was hated:

16 H3117 Then it shall be, when H1121 he maketh his sons H5157 [H8687] to inherit H3201 [H8799] that which he hath, that he may H1121 not prefer the son H157 [H8803] of the beloved H1069 [H8763] firstborn H6440 before H1121 the son H8130 [H8803] of the hated H1060 , which is indeed the firstborn:

17 H5234 [H8686] But he shall acknowledge H1121 the son H8130 [H8803] of the hated H1060 for the firstborn H5414 [H8800] , by giving H8147 him a double H6310 portion H4672 [H8735] of all that he hath H7225 : for he is the beginning H202 of his strength H4941 ; the right H1062 of the firstborn is his.

18 H376 If a man H5637 [H8802] shall have a stubborn H4784 [H8802] and rebellious H1121 son H8085 [H8802] , who will not obey H6963 the voice H1 of his father H6963 , or the voice H517 of his mother H3256 [H8765] , and who, when they have chastened H8085 [H8799] him, will not hearken to them:

19 H1 Then shall his father H517 and his mother H8610 [H8804] lay hold H3318 [H8689] on him, and bring him out H2205 to the elders H5892 of his city H8179 , and to the gate H4725 of his place;

20 H559 [H8804] And they shall say H2205 to the elders H5892 of his city H1121 , This our son H5637 [H8802] is stubborn H4784 [H8802] and rebellious H8085 [H8802] , he will not obey H6963 our voice H2151 [H8802] ; he is a glutton H5433 [H8802] , and a drunkard.

21 H582 And all the men H5892 of his city H7275 [H8804] shall stone H68 him with stones H4191 [H8804] , that he may die H1197 [H8765] : so shalt thou remove H7451 evil H7130 from among H3478 you; and all Israel H8085 [H8799] shall hear H3372 [H8799] , and fear.

22 H376 And if a man H2399 shall have committed a sin H4941 worthy of H4194 death H4191 [H8717] , and he must be put to death H8518 [H8804] , and thou shalt hang H6086 him on a tree:

23 H5038 His body H3885 [H8799] shall not remain all night H6086 upon the tree H6912 [H8800] , but thou shalt surely H6912 [H8799] bury H3117 him that day H8518 [H8803] ; (for he that is hanged H7045 is accursed H430 of God H127 ;) that thy land H2930 [H8762] may not be defiled H3068 , which the LORD H430 thy God H5414 [H8802] giveth H5159 thee for an inheritance.
