Psalms 97:1-119:176

VIN(i) 1 the LORD reigneth: let the earth be glad, let the many isles rejoice. 2 Cloud and thick darkness are surrounding him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. 3 A fire goes before him, and burns up his adversaries on every side. 4 His lightning lights up the world. The earth sees, and trembles. 5 Mountains melt like wax before the LORD before the LORD of all the earth. 6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory. 7 Let all who serve an image be ashamed, those who boast about idols. Worship him, all you gods. 8 Zion heard, and rejoiced; and the daughters of Judah were glad, because of thy judgments, O LORD. 9 For you, LORD, are most high above all the earth. You are exalted far above all gods. 10 You who love the LORD, hate evil. He protects the lives of his faithful; he delivers them from the hand of the wicked. 11 Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart. 12 Be glad in the LORD, you righteous, and give thanks to his holy name. 98 1 Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things. His right hand, and his holy arm, have worked salvation for him. 2 the LORD has made his salvation known. He has uncovered his righteousness for the nations to see. 3 He has remembered His mercy and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. 4 Shout joyfully to the LORD all the earth. Break out into joyful singing, and make music. 5 Make melody to the LORD with the harp, With the harp and the sound of melody." 6 With trumpets and the sound of a ram's horn shout in the presence of the LORD, the king! 7 Let the sea roar, and the fullness of it; the world, and those who live in it. 8 Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing for joy together. 9 Let them sing before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity. 99 1 the LORD reigns! Let the nations tremble. He sits enthroned between the cherubim: let the earth be moved. 2 Great is the LORD in Zion, And exalted is He over all the peoples." 3 Let them praise your great and awesome name! He is holy. 4 The King's strength also loves justice. You do establish equity. You execute justice and righteousness in Jacob. 5 Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool. He is holy! 6 Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel was among those who call on his name. They called on the LORD, and he answered them. 7 He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud. They kept his testimonies and the statute he gave to them. 8 O LORD our God, you answered them. You were a forgiving God to them, and an avenger of their evil deeds. 9 Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his holy mountain, for the LORD our God is holy! 100 1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all you lands. 2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before His face with joyful singing. 3 Know that the LORD, he is God. It is he who has made us and we are his. We are his people and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, his courts with praise. Give thanks to him; bless his name. 5 For the LORD is good, His grace endures forever, His faithfulness to all generations. 101 1 A Psalm by David. I will sing of grace and justice. To You, the LORD, I will sing praises. 2 I will be careful to live a blameless life. When will you come to me? I will walk within my house with a blameless heart. 3 I will set no vile thing before my eyes. I hate the deeds of faithless men. They will not cling to me. 4 A perverse heart will be far from me. I will have nothing to do with evil. 5 Whoso slandereth his neighbour in secret, him will I destroy; whoso is haughty of eye and proud of heart, him will I not suffer. 6 My eyes will be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me. He who walks in a perfect way, he will minister to me. 7 He who practices deceit won't dwell within my house. He who speaks falsehood won't be established before my eyes. 8 Every morning will I destroy all the wicked of the land: to cut off all workers of iniquity from the city of the LORD. 102 1 A prayer of one afflicted, when he grows faint and pours out his lament before the LORD. O LORD, hear my prayer, and let my cry for help come to you. 2 Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress. Incline your ear to me. In the day when I call answer me quickly. 3 For my days vanish like smoke, And my bones burn hot like glowing embers." 4 My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread. 5 Because of the sound of my groaning my bones cling to my skin. 6 I have become like a pelican of the wilderness; 7 I lie awake, I have become like a lonely bird on a housetop. 8 All day long my enemies have reproached me. Those who deride me used my name as a curse. 9 I have eaten ashes as food and mixed my drink with tears 10 because of your indignation and your wrath; for you have taken me up and thrown me away. 11 My days are like a lengthened shadow and I wither away like grass. 12 But you, LORD, will abide forever; your renown endures to all generations. 13 You will arise to extend compassion on Zion, for it is time to show her favor the appointed time has come. 14 (102:15) For thy servants hold dear her stones, and her very dust they cherish. 15 So the nations will fear the name of the LORD; all the kings of the earth your glory. 16 For the Lord will rebuild Sion and appear in his glory. 17 He will turn to the prayer of the destitute, and will not despise their prayer. 18 Let this be written for a later generation, When a people yet being created shall praise Yah." 19 For he looketh down from his sanctuary; out of the heaven doth the LORD behold the earth, 20 to hear the groans of the prisoner; to free those who are condemned to death; 21 That the name of the LORD may be declared in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem, 22 when the peoples and the kingdoms are gathered together to serve the LORD. 23 He hath prostrated, in the way, my strength,—He hath shortened my days. 24 Do not take me away in the midst of my days; Your years are through all generations. 25 In the beginning You, O Lord, laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of Your hands. 26 "They will perish, but you endure. All of them will wear out like a garment; like clothing you will renew them and they will be renewed. 27 But you remain the same; your years never end. 28 The children of your servants will continue, and their descendants will be established before you." 103 1 {Of David} Praise the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me praise his holy name. 2 Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. 3 who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from corruption; who crowns you with mercy and compassion; 5 who satisfies your desire with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. 6 the LORD works righteousness and judgments for all the oppressed. 7 who made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel. 8 the LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in loyal love. 9 He will not always chasten, nor will he keep his anger forever. 10 He has not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. 11 For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His grace toward those who fear Him. 12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. 13 Like a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him. 14 For he knows how we are made. He remembers that we are dust. 15 As for man, his days are as grass: his beautiful growth is like the flower of the field. 16 For the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. 17 But the loyal love of Yahweh is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to their children's children, 18 to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his precepts. 19 The LORD has established his throne in heaven and his kingdom rules over all. 20 Bless the LORD, you his angels, you mighty heroes who do his word by obeying the sound of his word. 21 Bless the LORD, all you his hosts, you his attendants who do his will. 22 Praise the LORD, all you his works in all places of his dominion. Praise the LORD, O my soul. 104 1 Praise the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, you are very great. You are clothed with honor and majesty, 2 He covers himself with light as with a garment. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain. 3 He lays the beams of his chambers in the waters. He makes the clouds his chariot. He walks on the wings of the wind. 4 He makes winds his angels, and flames of fire his servants. 5 He laid the earth on its foundations; it shall not be shaken forever. 6 You covered it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains. 7 At your rebuke they fled; at the sound of your thunder they ran off. 8 they ascend by the mountains; they descend by the valleys to the place you founded for them. 9 You have set a boundary they cannot cross; they will never again cover the earth. 10 He causes springs to gush forth into rivers that flow between the mountains. 11 They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild donkeys quench their thirst. 12 The birds of the sky nest by them, they sing among the branches. 13 He watereth the mountains from his upper-chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works. 14 He causes grass to sprout for the cattle and plants for people to cultivate, to produce food from the land, 15 and wine that gladdens the heart of man and oil to make his face to shine and bread that strengthens man's heart. 16 The trees of the LORD are satisfied the cedars of Lebanon that He planted; 17 where the birds make their nests. The stork makes its home in the fir trees. 18 The high mountains are for the wild goats; the rocks are a refuge for the conies 19 He made the moon for seasons; the sun knows its going down. 20 You bring darkness and it becomes night; when every beast of the forest prowls. 21 The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their food from God. 22 The sun rises, and they steal away, and lie down in their dens. 23 Man goes out to his work, to his labor until the evening. 24 How manifold are Thy works, O LORD! In wisdom hast Thou made them all; the earth is full of Thy creatures. 25 The sea is so big and wide with many creatures, living things both large and small. 26 There the ships go, and leviathan, whom you formed to play there. 27 They all wait for you to give them their food at the proper time. 28 You give to them; they gather. You open your hand; they are satisfied with good. 29 You hide your face, they are terrified. You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust. 30 When you send your spirit, they are created, and you replenish the surface of the earth. 31 May the glory of the LORD endure for ever; let the LORD rejoice in His works! 32 He looks at the earth, and it trembles. He touches the mountains, and they smoke. 33 I will sing to the LORD all my life. I will sing praise to my God as long as I exist. 34 May my meditation be pleasing to him. I will be glad in the LORD. 35 Let the sinners perish from the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless the LORD, O my soul. Praise the LORD! 105 1 O give thanks to the LORD, call upon his name. Make known among the peoples his practices. 2 Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; talk of all His wonderful works. 3 Glory in his holy name. Let the heart of those who seek the LORD rejoice. 4 Seek ye the LORD and his strength: seek his face always. 5 Remember His wonders that He has done, His miracles, and the judgments of His mouth, 6 O seed of Abraham, His servant, O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones. 7 He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth. 8 He remembered his covenant forever, the word he commanded to a thousand generations. 9 Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath to Isaac; 10 He presented it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant. 11 saying, To you I will give the land of Canaan, the portion of your inheritance; 12 When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it. 13 they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another. 14 He suffered no man to do them wrong, yea, for their sake He reproved kings: 15 "Do not touch my anointed ones. Do my prophets no harm." 16 He called for a famine on the land, He destroyed the piles of food. 17 He sent a man before them. Joseph was sold for a slave. 18 They bruised his feet with shackles. His neck was locked in irons, 19 until his word came to pass; till the oracle of the Lord tried him. 20 The king sent and released him, even the ruler of peoples, and let him go free. 21 He made him master of his house, and ruler of all his possession. 22 To bind his princes at his pleasure, and teach his elders wisdom. 23 Then Israel came to Egypt. Jacob lived as a foreigner in the land of Ham. 24 And he made his people very fruitful. He also made them stronger than their enemies. 25 He turned their heart to hate his people, to conspire against his servants. 26 He sent Moses, his servant, and Aaron, whom he had chosen. 27 They performed his signs among them, his wonders in the land of Ham. 28 He sent darkness, and made it dark. And they rebelled against his words. 29 He turned their waters into blood, and caused their fish to die. 30 Their land swarmed with frogs, even in the rooms of their kings. 31 He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, and gnats in all their country. 32 He turned their rain into hail, into flaming fire in their land. 33 And he struck their vines and fig trees, and shattered the trees of their territory. 34 He spoke, and the locusts came, and the grasshoppers, without number, 35 They consumed every green plant in their land, and devoured the fruit of their soil. 36 He struck also all the firstborn in their land, the first fruits of all their manhood. 37 He brought Israel out with silver and gold, and no one among his tribes stumbled. 38 Egypt was glad when they departed, because the fear of them had fallen upon them. 39 He spread out a cloud as a covering, And fire, to give light by night, 40 They asked, and he brought quail, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven. 41 He opened a rock, and water gushed out flowing like a river in the desert. 42 For He remembered His holy word and His servant Abraham; 43 He brought his people out with joy, his chosen ones with a song of joy. 44 He gave them the lands of other nations. They inherited what others had worked for. 45 that they might keep his statutes, and observe his laws. Praise the LORD. 106 1 Praise the LORD! Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, for His grace endures forever. 2 Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD, or fully declare all his praise? 3 Blessed are those who observe justice, he who does righteousness at all times. 4 Remember me, O LORD, when you show favor to your people. Look after me when you deliver, 5 That I may see the prosperity of thy chosen ones, that I may rejoice in the joy of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance. 6 We have sinned with our fathers; we have done amiss, and dealt wickedly. 7 Our fathers in Egypt did not understand your wonders. They did not remember your abundant kindnesses. But they rebelled by the Red Sea. 8 But He saved them for His name's sake, to make His mighty power known. 9 He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it was dried up; so he led them through the depths, as through a desert. 10 He saved them from the hand of the one who hated them and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. 11 But waters covered their adversaries; not one of them survived. 12 Then they believed his word and sung his praise. 13 But they quickly forgot his deeds and did not wait for his counsel. 14 but gave in to their craving in the desert, and tested God in the wasteland. 15 And he gave them their request, but sent a wasting disease into their souls. 16 yet they provoked Moses in the camp and Aaron the consecrated of the Lord. 17 the earth opened up and swallowed Dathan; and covered the company of Abiram. 18 a fire burnt in their witness - the flame burnt the wicked: 19 At Mount Horeb they made a statue of a calf. They worshiped an idol made of metal. 20 Thus they exchanged their glory for an image of a bull that eats grass. 21 They forgot God, who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt, 22 wonders in the land of Ham, awesome deeds by the Red Sea. 23 So he said he would exterminate them, had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him, to reverse his wrath from destroying them. 24 Yes, they despised the pleasant land. They did not believe his word, 25 They complained in their tents. They did not obey the LORD. 26 So he lifted up his hand unto them, that he would let them fall in the desert; 27 kill their descendants among the nations, and scatter them throughout various lands. 28 They also attached themselves to Baal of Peor, and they ate sacrifices offered to the dead. 29 Thus they provoked to anger by their deeds, and a plague broke out among them. 30 Then Phinehas stood and intervened, and the plague was stayed; 31 That was credited to him for righteousness, for all generations to come. 32 And they angered Him at the waters of Meribah, and it went ill for Moses because of them; 33 for they rebelled against his spirit so that he babbled with his lips: 34 They did not destroy the peoples, as the LORD commanded them, 35 but they mingled with the nations and learned their works, 36 They served their idols, which became a snare to them. 37 They sacrificed their sons And their daughters to demons; 38 and shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; and the land was defiled with blood, 39 Thus they defiled themselves by their deeds, And they prostituted themselves by their actions." 40 Therefore the Lord was incensed against his people, and abhorred his inheritance. 41 He handed them over to other nations, and those who hated them ruled them. 42 Their enemies oppressed them and made them subject to their power. 43 Many times He delivered them, but they rebelled in their counsel and sank in their iniquities. 44 Yet he looked upon their distress when he heard their cry. 45 he remembered his covenant and according to the multitude of his mercies; 46 He also made them to be pitied by all those who carried them captive. 47 Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from the nations, so that we may give thanks to your holy name and boast in your praise. 48 Thanks be to the LORD the God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say amen. Praise the LORD! 107 1 Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, for His grace endures forever. 2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He redeemed from the hand of the foe; 3 and gathered from the lands, from east and from west, from north and from south. 4 They wandered in desolate wilderness; they found no road to a city where they could live. 5 They were hungry and thirsty: their soul fainted in them. 6 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. 7 He led them in a straight way to find a city where they could live. 8 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his gracious love and his awesome deeds for mankind. 9 For He satisfies the empty soul, and fills the hungry soul with good things, 10 Those who sat in darkness and gloom, prisoners of misery and iron— 11 because they rebelled against the words of God, and despised the counsel of the Most High; 12 And he humbled with trouble their heart; they stumbled, and there was none to help; 13 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. 14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke away their chains. 15 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his gracious love, and for his awesome deeds to mankind. 16 For he has broken the gates of bronze, and cut through bars of iron. 17 Because of their rebellious ways, fools suffered for their iniquities. 18 They loathed all food, and even reached the gates of death. 19 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. 20 He sent his message and healed them. He rescued them from the grave. 21 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his gracious love, and for his awesome deeds for mankind. 22 Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and talk about his works with shouts of joy. 23 As for them who go to sea in ships, and traffick on the mighty waters; 24 they saw the works of the LORD, and his wonderful deeds in the deep. 25 For he spoke and raised up a stormy wind, and it whipped up its waves. 26 They mount up to the heavens, and they go down to the depths: their soul pined away with evils. 27 They reeled and staggered like a drunkard, and they were at their wits' end. 28 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distresses. 29 He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves of the sea are still. 30 Then they are glad because it is calm, so he brings them to their desired haven. 31 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his loyal love and his wonderful deeds for the children of humankind, 32 Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people and praise him in the counsel of the elders. 33 He turns rivers into a desert, water springs into a thirsty ground, 34 and a fruitful land into a salt waste because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it. 35 He turns a desert into a pool of water, and a dry land into water springs. 36 There he settled the hungry, where they built a city to live in. 37 They sowed fields and planted vineyards that yielded a productive harvest. 38 And he blesses them and they multiply greatly, and he does not let their cattle become few. 39 When they become few and they are bent down from the oppression of calamity and grief, 40 he pours contempt on princes and causes them to wander in a trackless waste. 41 Yet he lifts the needy out of their affliction, and increases their families like a flock. 42 The righteous will see this and rejoice, but all the wicked will shut their mouths. 43 Whoever is wise, let him observe these things; Let them consider the benignities of the LORD." 108 1 A Song. A Psalm by David. My heart is steadfast, God. I will sing and I will make music with my soul. 2 Awake, harp and lyre. I will awake the dawn. 3 I will praise you, O LORD, among the people. I will sing praises to you among the nations. 4 For Your grace is great above the heavens, Your faithfulness reaches to the skies. 5 Be exalted, God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth. 6 that your beloved may be rescued; save with your right and answer me. 7 God has spoken from his sanctuary: "In triumph, I will divide Shechem, and measure out the valley of Succoth. 8 Gilead is mine. Manasseh is mine. Ephraim also is my helmet. Judah is my scepter. 9 Moab is My washbasin; Unto Edom shall I fling My sandal; Over Philistia shall I shout in triumph. 10 Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? 11 Will not You, O God, who have rejected us? And will not You, O God, go forth with our armies? 12 Give us help against the enemy, for the help of man is vain. 13 In God we shall do strength, and he will tread down our enemies. 109 1 To the Director. A Davidic psalm.. God, whom I praise, do not be silent, 2 Wicked and deceitful people have opened their mouths against me. They speak against me with lying tongues. 3 And, with words of hatred, have they surrounded me, and have made war upon me without cause: 4 In return for my love they accuse me, though I am in prayer. 5 And they repaid me evil for good: and hatred for my love. 6 Appoint the evil one to oppose him. Let an accuser stand at his right hand. 7 When he is judged, let him come out guilty, and let his prayer become as sin. 8 Let his days be few; and let another take his office of overseer. 9 May his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow. 10 may his children be wandering beggars, let them be sought from their ruins. 11 Let the creditor seize all that he has. Let strangers plunder the fruit of his labor. 12 May no one extend gracious love to him, or show favor to his fatherless children. 13 Let his descendants be cut off. Let their name be blotted out in the next generation. 14 Let the iniquity of his ancestors be remembered before the LORD, and let the sin of his mother not be blotted out. 15 let them be always before the LORD, so that He may cut off the memory of them from the earth; 16 For he didn't think to extend gracious love; he harassed to death the poor, the needy, and the broken hearted. 17 Yea, he loved cursing, and it came to him; he also had no pleasure in blessing, and it was far from him. 18 He put on cursing like a robe, and it has come into his body like water, and into his bones like oil. 19 May those curses wrap around him like a garment, or like a belt that one always wears. 20 May this be the way the LORD repays my accuser, those who speak evil against me. 21 But You, Sovereign LORD, deal kindly with me for Your name's sake; because Your mercy is good, deliver me. 22 For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me. 23 I fade away like an evening shadow. I am shaken off like a locust. 24 My knees are weak through fasting, my body is thin and lacks fat. 25 I am become also a taunt unto them; when they see me, they shake their head. 26 Help me, O LORD my God; save me according to your loyal love, 27 that they may know that this is your hand; that you, LORD, have done it. 28 Let them curse, but you bless. When they arise, they will be put to shame, but your servant will rejoice. 29 May my accusers be clothed with shame and wrapped in their humiliation as with a robe. 30 With my mouth I will greatly thank the Lord; and praise him in the midst of many: 31 for he stands at the right hand of the needy, to save him from those judging his life. 110 1 A Psalm by David. the LORD says to my Lord, Sit at My right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet. 2 the LORD will send out your mighty scepter from Zion; rule in the midst of your enemies. 3 Your people will volunteer in the day of your power. In holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn, you will have the dew of your youth. 4 The LORD has sworn, and will not change his mind: "You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek." 5 The Lord is at your right hand. He will crush kings in the day of his wrath. 6 He will judge among the nations. He will heap up dead bodies. He will crush the ruler of the whole earth. 7 He will drink of the brook in the way; therefore he will lift up his head. 111 1 Praise the LORD! I will thank the LORD with all my heart; in the council of the upright, and of the assembly. 2 Great are the works of the LORD, Sought after by all who delight in them." 3 Glorious and majestic is his doing, and his righteousness endureth for ever. 4 He has made his wonders to be remembered; the LORD is gracious and compassionate. 5 He gives food to those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever. 6 He has shown his people the power of his works, in giving them the heritage of the nations. 7 The works of his hands are faithfulness and justice; all his precepts are reliable. 8 They are sustained forever and ever, done with faithfulness and uprightness. 9 He sent redemption unto his people: he has commanded his covenant forever: holy and awesome is his name. 10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who do them have a good understanding. His praise endures forever. 112 1 Praise Yah! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD; he takes great delight in his commands. 2 His seed will be mighty in the land, the generation of the upright will be blessed. 3 Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. 4 Risen—in darkness, is light to the upright, The gracious and compassionate and righteous. 5 Well will it be with the man who is kind, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with justice. 6 For he will never be shaken. The righteous will be remembered forever. 7 He will not be afraid of evil news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. 8 His heart is secure, he has no fears; in the end he will look in triumph on his adversaries. 9 He has scattered abroad; he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn shall be lifted up with honor. 10 The wicked shall see it, and be vexed; he will gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the longing of the wicked shall perish. 113 1 Praise the LORD! Praise, O servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD. 2 Let the name of the Lord be blessed, now and forevermore. 3 From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised. 4 The LORD is high above all nations, his glory above the heavens. 5 Who is like the LORD our God, who is enthroned on high, 6 who stoops down to view both heaven and earth? 7 He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the dunghill 8 to seat them with princes, with the princes of his people. 9 He settles the barren woman in her home, as a joyful mother of children. Praise the LORD. 114 1 When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of foreign language, 2 Judah became his sanctuary, Israel his dominion. 3 The sea looked and fled; the Jordan turned back; 4 The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs. 5 What was it, you sea, that you fled? You Jordan, that you turned back? 6 O mountains, that you skipped like rams? O hills, like lambs? 7 Tremble, you earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob, 8 who turned the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a spring of waters. 115 1 Not to us, LORD, not to us, but to your name be given glory on account of your gracious love and faithfulness. 2 Why do the nations say, Where is their God now? 3 Our God is in heaven. He does whatever he pleases. 4 Their idols, are silver and gold, the works of the hands of men,— 5 They have mouths, but cannot speak; they have eyes, but cannot see. 6 they have ears, but they cannot hear; they have noses, but they cannot smell; 7 They have hands but they cannot feel: They have feet, but they cannot walk: nor can they utter a sound with their throat. 8 Those who make them will be like them; yes, everyone who trusts in them. 9 House of Israel, trust in the LORD; He is their Help and their Shield." 10 O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. 11 You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD! He is their helper and shield. 12 The LORD remembers us. He will bless us. He will bless the house of Israel. He will bless the house of Aaron. 13 He will bless those who fear the LORD, both small and great. 14 May the LORD give you increase, you and your children. 15 May you be blessed by the LORD, who made heaven and earth. 16 The highest heavens belong to the LORD, but he gave the earth to human beings. 17 The dead do not praise the LORD, nor any who go down into silence, 18 but we will bless the LORD, from now on and forever. Praise the LORD! 116 1 I love the LORD because he has heard my prayer for mercy; 2 Because he has turned his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live. 3 The cords of death compassed me, and the pains of Sheol gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow 4 Then I called on the name of the LORD: "O LORD, please save my life!" 5 The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is compassionate; 6 The LORD preserves the simple. I was brought low, and he saved me. 7 Return to your rest, O soul; for the LORD has blessed you. 8 For You have delivered my soul from death, my eye from tears, my feet from stumbling. 9 I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living. 10 I believed, therefore I said, "I am greatly afflicted." 11 I said in my haste, "All men are liars." 12 How can I repay the LORD for all the good that he has done for me? 13 I will lift up the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD. 14 I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people. 15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. 16 LORD, truly I am your servant. I am your servant, the son of your handmaid. You have freed me from my chains. 17 I will bring you a thanksgiving offering and call on the name of the LORD! 18 I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people, 19 in the courts of the house of the LORD; in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD! 117 1 Praise the LORD, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples. 2 For his mercy is great toward us; and the truth of the LORD [endureth] for ever. Praise ye the LORD 118 1 Give thanks to the LORD for He is good, for His grace endures forever. 2 Let Israel say, "His loyal love is forever." 3 Let the house of Aaron say, "His loyal love is forever." 4 Let those who fear the LORD say, "His loyal love is forever." 5 In my distress I called to the LORD; he answered me and set me free. 6 the LORD is with me, I will not be afraid; what can man do to me? 7 the LORD is for me as my helper, and so I will look in triumph on those who hate me. 8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man. 9 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes. 10 All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the LORD, I cut them off. 11 They surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me. In the name of the LORD I indeed cut them off. 12 They surrounded me like bees but they are quenched like the burning thorns. In the name of the LORD I cut them off. 13 I was pushed, yea pushed so as to fall, Yet the LORD, He helped me." 14 The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. 15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous; the right hand of the LORD does mighty things. 16 the LORD's right hand is exalted; the LORD's right hand does valiantly. 17 I shall not die: but live and proclaim the works of the Lord. 18 The LORD has chastened me severely: but he has not given me over unto death. 19 Open for me the gates of righteousness, and I will go in at them and give thanks to the Lord. 20 This is the gate of the LORD, through which the righteous will enter. 21 I will give thee thanks, for thou hast answered me, and art become my salvation. 22 The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. 23 From the LORD came this; It is marvelous in our eyes. 24 This is the day the LORD has made let us rejoice and be glad in it! 25 O Lord, save me: O Lord, give good success. 26 Blessed be he that comes in the name of the LORD; from the house of the LORD we bless you. 27 The LORD is God, and he has given us light. Bind the sacrifice with cords, even to the horns of the altar. 28 You are my God, and I will give thanks to you. You are my God, I will exalt you. 29 O give thanks to the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endures for ever. 119 1 ALEPH.
