Psalms 80:1-150:6

VIN(i) 1 Hear us, Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock, you who sit above the cherubim, shine forth. 2 Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up your might! Come to save us! 3 Restore us, God. Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved. 4 O LORD God of hosts, how long will you be angry against the prayer of your people? 5 You have fed them the bread of tears; You have even made them drink tears by the bowlful. 6 You make us a source of contention to our neighbors. Our enemies have mocked us. 7 Restore us, God of hosts. Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved. 8 You brought a vine out of Egypt. You drove out the nations, and planted it. 9 You cleared the ground for it so that it took root and filled the land. 10 The mountains were covered with its shade, and the mighty cedars with its boughs. 11 It sent out its branches to the sea, its shoots to the River. 12 Why did you break down its walls so that those who pass by pluck its fruits? 13 Swine from the forests devour it and creatures of the field feed on it. 14 Return, we beg you, God of hosts. Look down from heaven, and see, and visit this vine, 15 The root that your right hand planted, the shoot that you tended for yourself, 16 - burnt with fire - cut down; they destruct at the rebuke of your face. 17 May you support the man at your right hand; the son of man whom you have raised for yourself. 18 So we will not turn away from you. Revive us, and we will call on your name. 19 Restore us, O LORD God of hosts, cause your face to shine; and we shall be saved. 81 1 To the chief musician. On Gittith. Of Asaph. Sing aloud to God our strength; shout for joy to the God of Jacob. 2 Sing a song and strike the tambourine. Play the sweet sounding lyre with the harp. 3 Blow the ram's horn in the new moon, at the full moon, on our feast day. 4 For this is a statute for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob; 5 He made it a statute in Joseph when he went out against the land of Egypt, where I heard a language I did not know. 6 I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were freed from the basket. 7 In a time of need you called out and I delivered you; I answered you from the dark thundercloud; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. [Interlude] 8 Hear, O my people, and I will admonish you; O Israel, if you would but listen to me. 9 There shall be no strange god among you, and you shall not bow down to a foreign god. 10 I am the LORD your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it. 11 But my people would not listen to my voice; and Israel would none of me. 12 "Therefore I gave them over to their stubborn hearts. They walked in their own counsel. 13 O that my people would listen to me, that Israel would walk in my ways! 14 I would soon subdue their enemies, and turn my hand against their adversaries. 15 The haters of the LORD would cringe before him, and their punishment would last forever. 16 "I would feed you with the finest of the wheat, and with honey from the rock I would satisfy you." 82 1 A Psalm by Asaph. God presides in the great assembly. He judges among the gods. 2 "How long will you judge unjustly, and show partiality to the wicked?" Selah. 3 Defend the weak, the poor, and the fatherless, maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. 4 Rescue the weak and needy, deliver them out of the hand of the wicked. 5 They know not, nor do they understand. They walk to and fro in darkness. All the foundations of the earth are shaken. 6 I said you are gods; and all sons of the Most High: 7 However, you will die like men, and you will fall like one of the princes." 8 Up! O God, come as judge of the earth; for all the nations are your heritage. 83 1 God, do not keep silent. Do not keep silent, and do not be still, God. 2 For, behold, your enemies roar; they who hate you lift their head; 3 They conspire with cunning against your people. They plot against your cherished ones. 4 “Come,” they say, “let’s destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more.” 5 Indeed, they shrewdly planned together, forming an alliance against you 6 the tents of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarites; 7 Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia with the dwellers of Tyre;" 8 Even Assyria joined them to strengthen the descendants of Lot. [Interlude] 9 Do to them as you did to Midian, as you did to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the river Kishon 10 who perished at Endor, and became as the dung of the earth. 11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, yes, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, 12 who said, "Let us take possession of God's pasturelands." 13 My God, make them like tumbleweed, like chaff before the wind. 14 As a fire burneth a forest,—And as a flame setteth mountains ablaze, 15 so pursue them with your tempest, and terrify them with your storm. 16 Fill their faces with shame and they will seek Your name, O LORD. 17 Shame and terrify them eternally; yes, that they blush and destruct; 18 And let them know Your name is the LORD, that You alone are the Most High over all the earth. 84 1 For the music director; on the Gittith. Of the sons of Korah. A psalm. How lovely are your dwelling places, O LORD Almighty! 2 My soul longs and even faints for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. 3 Even the sparrow has found a house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, on Your altars, O LORD Almighty, my King and my God. 4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house. They are ever praising you. Selah. 5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you, who have set their hearts on a pilgrimage. 6 As they pass through the dry valley of Baca, it becomes a place of springs; the autumn rain fills it with pools. 7 They go from strength to strength, until each appears before God in Zion. 8 Hear my prayer, Sovereign LORD Almighty. Listen, O God of Jacob! 9 Look at our shield, O God. Look with favor on the face of your anointed one. 10 For one day in Your courts is better than thousands. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of God, than dwell in the tents of sinners. 11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. 12 O LORD Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you. 85 1 For the music director. Of the sons of Korah. A psalm. O Yahweh, you favored your land. You restored the fortunes of Jacob. 2 You have forgiven the iniquity of your people. You have covered all their sin. Selah. 3 You withdrew all your wrath; you turned from your burning anger. 4 Restore us, O God of our salvation, And take away thy vexation towards us. 5 Will you be angry with us forever? Will you draw out your anger to all generations? 6 Will you not revive us again: that your people may rejoice in you? 7 Show us your loving kindness, O LORD and grant us your salvation. 8 I will hear what God, the LORD, will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, his saints; but let them not turn again to folly. 9 Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land. 10 Mercy and truth have met together; righteousness and peace kissed each other . 11 Truth shall sprout out of the earth, and righteousness looks down from Heaven. 12 The LORD will also provide what is good, and our land will yield its produce. 13 Righteousness goes before him, And prepares the way for his steps. 86 1 Hear, LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. 2 Guard my soul, for I am godly; O You my God, save Your servant who trusts in You. 3 Have mercy on me Lord, for I call on you all day long. 4 Bring joy to the soul of your servant, for to you, Lord, do I lift up my soul. 5 for you, O Adonay, are good and forgiving - abundant in mercy to all who call on you. 6 Hear my prayer, LORD; attend to my prayer of supplication. 7 In the day of my trouble I will call on you, for you will answer me. 8 Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord; none are like Your works. 9 All nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord. They shall glorify your name. 10 For You are great, and do wondrous things, You alone are God. 11 Teach me your way, LORD. I will walk in your truth. Make my heart undivided to fear your name. 12 I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify your name forevermore. 13 For great is your mercy toward me: and you have delivered my soul from the depths of sheol. 14 O God, arrogant people attack me, and a mob of ruthless people seeks my life. They think nothing of you. 15 But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abundant in loyal love and faithfulness. 16 Turn to me, and have mercy on me! Give your strength to your servant. Save the son of your servant. 17 Show me a sign for good, that those who hate me may see it and be put to shame, because you, the LORD, have helped me and comforted me. 87 1 Of the sons of Korah. A psalm. A song. His foundation is on the holy mountains. 2 the LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob. 3 Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of God. Selah. 4 I will record Rahab and Babylon among those who acknowledge me. Look, Philistia, Tyre, and also Ethiopia: "This one was born there." 5 Yes, of Zion it will be said, "This one and that one was born in her;" the Most High himself will establish her. 6 The LORD shall count in the register of the peoples: 'This one was born there.' Selah 7 And while dancing, singers will sing, "All my springs are in you." 88 1 A song. A psalm of the sons of Korah. For the music director; according to Mahalath Leannoth. A maskil of Heman the Ezrahite. O LORD, God of my salvation, I cry out by day and through the night before you. 2 Let my prayer come before you: incline your ear to my cry; 3 For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draws near the grave. 4 I am counted among those who go down into the pit. I am like a man who has no help, 5 set apart among the dead, like the slain who lie in the grave, whom you remember no more. They are cut off from your hand. 6 You have laid me in the lowest pit, in the darkest depths. 7 Your wrath lies heavily upon me; You have afflicted me with all Your waves. Selah. 8 You have taken my friends from me. You have made me an abomination to them. I am confined, and I can’t escape. 9 My eye languishes from misery. I call on you, O LORD, every day; I spread out my hands to you. 10 Do you show wonders to the dead? Do the dead rise up and praise you? Selah. 11 Is Your grace declared in the grave? Or Your faithfulness in Destruction? 12 Are your wonders known in the darkness, or your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness? 13 I cry out to you for help, O LORD, and in the morning my prayer will come before you. 14 Why, LORD, have you rejected me? Why have you hidden your face from me? 15 Ever since I was young, I have been suffering and near death. I have endured your terrors, and now I am in despair. 16 Your burning anger has swept over me. Your terrors have destroyed me. 17 They came around me like water all day long. They completely engulfed me. 18 You have taken my loved ones and friends far away from me. Darkness is my only friend! 89 1 [A maschil of Ethan the Ezrahite.] I will sing of the mercies of the LORD forever: with my mouth will I make known your faithfulness to all generations. 2 I indeed declare, Love stands firm forever because You established the skies; Your faithfulness is in them. 3 “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David, my servant, 4 I will establish Your seed forever, and build up Your throne to all generations. Selah. 5 The heavens will praise your wonders, O LORD, Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones. 6 For who in the skies compares to the LORD? Who is like the LORD among the divine beings? 7 a God very awesome in the council of the holy ones and to be feared above all those who are all around him? 8 O LORD God of hosts, who is like You, O mighty the LORD? Your faithfulness also surrounds you. 9 You rule over the majestic sea; when its waves surge, you calm them. 10 You crushed Rahab who became like one slain; With Your strong arm You dispersed Your enemies. 11 The heavens are Yours, and the earth is Yours; You have founded the world, and the fullness of it. 12 You have created the north and the south. Tabor and Hermon rejoice in your name. 13 Yours is an arm with mastery; Your hand is strong; Your right hand is exalted. 14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne. Loyal love and faithfulness come before your face. 15 Blessed are the people who learn to acclaim you. They walk in the light of your presence, the LORD. 16 They rejoice in your name all the day. They are exalted in your righteousness. 17 For You are the glory of their strength; and by Your favor You lift up our horn. 18 Indeed, our shield belongs to the LORD, and our king to the Holy One of Israel. 19 Then you spoke in a vision to your faithful ones, and said, "I have bestowed strength on the warrior. I have exalted a young man from the people. 20 I have found David my servant. With my holy oil I have anointed him, 21 For My hand shall support him; and My arm shall strengthen him. 22 No enemy will tax him, no wicked man will oppress him. 23 I will crush his enemies before him and strike those who hate him. 24 My faithfulness and gracious love will be with him, and in my name his power will be exalted. 25 I will place his hand over the sea, and his right hand over the rivers. 26 He will call out to me, 'You are my Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.' 27 I will also appoint him my firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth. 28 I will keep my mercy for him for ever; my agreement with him will not be changed. 29 I will establish his dynasty forever, and his throne as long as heaven endures. 30 If his sons forsake my law and do not walk in my judgments, 31 if they profane my statutes; and do not keep my commands, 32 then I will punish their sin with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. 33 But I will not annul My mercy from him, and I will not be false in My faithfulness. 34 I will not break my covenant, nor alter what my lips have uttered. 35 Once for all I have sworn by my holiness; that I will not be false to David. 36 His offspring will endure forever, and his throne as the sun before me. 37 It will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky." Selah. 38 But you have rejected and spurned. You have been angry with your anointed. 39 You have renounced the covenant of your servant. You have defiled his crown in the dust. 40 You have broken through all his walls; you have laid his fortresses in ruin. 41 All who pass by the way rob him. He has become a reproach to his neighbors. 42 You have exalted the right hand of his foes; You have made all his enemies rejoice. 43 Yes, you turn back the edge of his sword, and haven’t supported him in battle. 44 You put an end to his splendor and hurled his throne to the ground. 45 You have cut short the days of his youth; you have covered him with shame. Selah 46 How long, O LORD? Will you hide yourself forever? Shall your wrath burn like fire? 47 Remember how transient is my life, For what futility have You created all the sons of humanity? 48 What man can live on and not see death? Can he deliver his life from the power of Sheol? Selah 49 Where is your gracious love of old, Lord, that in your faithfulness you promised to David? 50 Remember, Lord, the reproach of your servants, how I bear in my heart the taunts of all the mighty peoples, 51 With which your enemies have mocked, LORD, with which they have mocked the footsteps of your anointed one. 52 Blessed be the LORD forever. Amen and Amen. 90 1 A Prayer by Moses, the man of God. Lord, you have been our dwelling place for all generations. 2 Before the mountains were born and you brought forth the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God. 3 You turn men back into dust and say: "Return, O sons of men!" 4 For a thousand years in your eyes are like yesterday when it passes, or like a watch in the night. 5 You sweep mortals away in the sleep of death. They sprout again in the morning like grass. 6 In the morning it blossoms and grows up; in the evening it is cut down and withers. 7 Indeed, we are consumed by your anger and terrified by your wrath. 8 You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence. 9 For all our days pass away in Your wrath; we finish our years like a murmur. 10 The days of our years are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty years; yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for it passes quickly, and we fly away. 11 Who knows the power of your anger and your wrath according to the fear that is due to you? 12 So teach us to number our days so that we may gain a heart of wisdom. 13 Relent, LORD. How long? Have compassion on your servants. 14 Satisfy us in the morning with your loyal love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. 15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen evil. 16 Let your work appear to your servants, your glory to their children. 17 Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us; establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands. 91 1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust." 3 Surely He will deliver you from the fowler's trap and from the destroying plague. 4 He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart. 5 You shall not fear the terror of night, of the arrow that flies by day; 6 for the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come near you. 8 You will only look with your eyes, and see the punishment of the wicked. 9 For thou, O the LORD, my trust; thou didst set the Most High thy refuge. 10 No harm will befall you, and no plague will come near your tent. 11 For he will command his angels concerning you, to watch over you in all your ways. 12 they will bear you up in their hands, so that you won't dash your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread upon the lion and the viper. You will trample the young lion and the serpent underfoot. 14 Because he loves me, therefore I will deliver him; I will protect him because he knows my name. 15 He will call upon me and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation. 92 1 A Psalm, A Song for the Sabbath Day. It is good to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; 2 to proclaim your gracious love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, 3 To do this on a ten-stringed instrument with a melody on a harp. 4 Because you made me glad with your awesome deeds, LORD, I will sing for joy at the works of your hands. 5 How great are your deeds, O LORD; how very deep are your thoughts. 6 An animal-like man does not know; a fool does not understand this. 7 though the wicked spring up as the grass, and all the evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever. 8 But You, O LORD, are exalted forever. 9 For, lo, Your enemies, O LORD; for, lo, Your enemies shall perish; all the evildoers shall be scattered. 10 But you have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; you have anointed me with fresh oil. 11 My eyes gloat over those who spy on me. My ears hear the evildoers attacking me. 12 The righteous will flourish like palm trees; they will grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 13 Planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They will still bear fruit even in old age; they will be luxuriant and green. 15 to show that the LORD is upright. He is my Rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him. 93 1 The LORD reigns. He is clothed with majesty. The LORD is armed with strength. The world also is established. It can't be moved. 2 Your throne is established from long ago. You are from everlasting. 3 The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their pounding waves. 4 Mightier than the rumblings of many waters, mightier than the mighty breakers of the sea, the LORD on high is mighty. 5 Your statutes stand firm. Holiness adorns your house, Yahweh, forever more. 94 1 O LORD, God of vengeance, God of vengeance, shine forth! 2 Rise up, you judge of the earth. Pay back the proud what they deserve. 3 How long will the wicked, O LORD, how long will the wicked exult? 4 They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers boast. 5 They crush your people, O LORD; they oppress your inheritance. 6 They kill the widow and the alien, and murder the fatherless. 7 They say, "The LORD cannot see, and the God of Jacob will not notice." 8 Consider, you senseless among the people; you fools, when will you be wise? 9 He who implanted the ear, won't he hear? He who formed the eye, won't he see? 10 He who disciplines the nations, won't he punish? He who teaches man knows. 11 The LORD knows the thoughts of man, that they are futile. 12 Blessed is the man whom you discipline, LORD, and teach out of your Law; 13 to give him rest from days of trouble, until a pit is dug for the wicked. 14 For the LORD won't reject his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance. 15 Because judgment will return to righteousness and all the upright in heart will follow it. 16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will stand up for me against the evildoers? 17 Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had soon dwelt in silence 18 When I thought, "My foot is slipping," your loyal love, O LORD, supported me. 19 When my cares are many within me, Thy comforts delight my soul. 20 Can wicked rulers be allied with you? They frame mischief by decree (the law). 21 They gather together against the righteous, condemning the innocent to death. 22 But the Lord is become my defence, and my God, the rock of my refuge. 23 He shall recompense them their wickedness, and destroy them in their own malice: yea the LORD our God shall destroy them. 95 1 Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. 2 Let's come before his presence with thanksgiving. Let's extol him with songs. 3 For the LORD is a great God, a great King above all gods. 4 He holds in his hand the lowest parts of the earth and the mountain peaks belong to him. 5 The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. 6 Come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. 7 for he is our Elohim and we are the people of his pasture - the flock of his hand. Today if you hear his voice, 8 Do not harden your heart as at Meribah, As on the day of Massah, in the desert; 9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, although they had seen my doing. 10 For forty years I was disgusted with this generation; and I said, They are a people who err in heart; and, They do not know My ways, 11 So I swore by an oath in my anger, Shall they enter into my rest, no. 96 1 Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. 2 Sing to the LORD. Bless his name. Proclaim his salvation from day to day. 3 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples. 4 For great is the LORD, and highly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods 5 For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens. 6 Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. 7 Ascribe to the LORD, you families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. 8 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering and come into his courts. 9 Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness; tremble before him, all the earth. 10 Say among the nations, "The LORD reigns." The world is also established. It can't be moved. He will judge the peoples with equity. 11 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad: let the sea roar, with all that filleth it. 12 Let the field with all that is in it exult. Then all the trees of the forests will sing for joy 13 before the LORD; for he comes, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, the peoples with his truth. 97 1 the LORD reigneth: let the earth be glad, let the many isles rejoice. 2 Cloud and thick darkness are surrounding him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. 3 A fire goes before him, and burns up his adversaries on every side. 4 His lightning lights up the world. The earth sees, and trembles. 5 Mountains melt like wax before the LORD before the LORD of all the earth. 6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory. 7 Let all who serve an image be ashamed, those who boast about idols. Worship him, all you gods. 8 Zion heard, and rejoiced; and the daughters of Judah were glad, because of thy judgments, O LORD. 9 For you, LORD, are most high above all the earth. You are exalted far above all gods. 10 You who love the LORD, hate evil. He protects the lives of his faithful; he delivers them from the hand of the wicked. 11 Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart. 12 Be glad in the LORD, you righteous, and give thanks to his holy name. 98 1 Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things. His right hand, and his holy arm, have worked salvation for him. 2 the LORD has made his salvation known. He has uncovered his righteousness for the nations to see. 3 He has remembered His mercy and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. 4 Shout joyfully to the LORD all the earth. Break out into joyful singing, and make music. 5 Make melody to the LORD with the harp, With the harp and the sound of melody." 6 With trumpets and the sound of a ram's horn shout in the presence of the LORD, the king! 7 Let the sea roar, and the fullness of it; the world, and those who live in it. 8 Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing for joy together. 9 Let them sing before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity. 99 1 the LORD reigns! Let the nations tremble. He sits enthroned between the cherubim: let the earth be moved. 2 Great is the LORD in Zion, And exalted is He over all the peoples." 3 Let them praise your great and awesome name! He is holy. 4 The King's strength also loves justice. You do establish equity. You execute justice and righteousness in Jacob. 5 Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool. He is holy! 6 Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel was among those who call on his name. They called on the LORD, and he answered them. 7 He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud. They kept his testimonies and the statute he gave to them. 8 O LORD our God, you answered them. You were a forgiving God to them, and an avenger of their evil deeds. 9 Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his holy mountain, for the LORD our God is holy! 100 1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all you lands. 2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before His face with joyful singing. 3 Know that the LORD, he is God. It is he who has made us and we are his. We are his people and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, his courts with praise. Give thanks to him; bless his name. 5 For the LORD is good, His grace endures forever, His faithfulness to all generations. 101 1 A Psalm by David. I will sing of grace and justice. To You, the LORD, I will sing praises. 2 I will be careful to live a blameless life. When will you come to me? I will walk within my house with a blameless heart. 3 I will set no vile thing before my eyes. I hate the deeds of faithless men. They will not cling to me. 4 A perverse heart will be far from me. I will have nothing to do with evil. 5 Whoso slandereth his neighbour in secret, him will I destroy; whoso is haughty of eye and proud of heart, him will I not suffer. 6 My eyes will be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me. He who walks in a perfect way, he will minister to me. 7 He who practices deceit won't dwell within my house. He who speaks falsehood won't be established before my eyes. 8 Every morning will I destroy all the wicked of the land: to cut off all workers of iniquity from the city of the LORD. 102 1 A prayer of one afflicted, when he grows faint and pours out his lament before the LORD. O LORD, hear my prayer, and let my cry for help come to you. 2 Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress. Incline your ear to me. In the day when I call answer me quickly. 3 For my days vanish like smoke, And my bones burn hot like glowing embers." 4 My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread. 5 Because of the sound of my groaning my bones cling to my skin. 6 I have become like a pelican of the wilderness; 7 I lie awake, I have become like a lonely bird on a housetop. 8 All day long my enemies have reproached me. Those who deride me used my name as a curse. 9 I have eaten ashes as food and mixed my drink with tears 10 because of your indignation and your wrath; for you have taken me up and thrown me away. 11 My days are like a lengthened shadow and I wither away like grass. 12 But you, LORD, will abide forever; your renown endures to all generations. 13 You will arise to extend compassion on Zion, for it is time to show her favor the appointed time has come. 14 (102:15) For thy servants hold dear her stones, and her very dust they cherish. 15 So the nations will fear the name of the LORD; all the kings of the earth your glory. 16 For the Lord will rebuild Sion and appear in his glory. 17 He will turn to the prayer of the destitute, and will not despise their prayer. 18 Let this be written for a later generation, When a people yet being created shall praise Yah." 19 For he looketh down from his sanctuary; out of the heaven doth the LORD behold the earth, 20 to hear the groans of the prisoner; to free those who are condemned to death; 21 That the name of the LORD may be declared in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem, 22 when the peoples and the kingdoms are gathered together to serve the LORD. 23 He hath prostrated, in the way, my strength,—He hath shortened my days. 24 Do not take me away in the midst of my days; Your years are through all generations. 25 In the beginning You, O Lord, laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of Your hands. 26 "They will perish, but you endure. All of them will wear out like a garment; like clothing you will renew them and they will be renewed. 27 But you remain the same; your years never end. 28 The children of your servants will continue, and their descendants will be established before you." 103 1 {Of David} Praise the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me praise his holy name. 2 Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. 3 who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from corruption; who crowns you with mercy and compassion; 5 who satisfies your desire with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. 6 the LORD works righteousness and judgments for all the oppressed. 7 who made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel. 8 the LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in loyal love. 9 He will not always chasten, nor will he keep his anger forever. 10 He has not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. 11 For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His grace toward those who fear Him. 12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. 13 Like a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him. 14 For he knows how we are made. He remembers that we are dust. 15 As for man, his days are as grass: his beautiful growth is like the flower of the field. 16 For the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. 17 But the loyal love of Yahweh is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to their children's children, 18 to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his precepts. 19 The LORD has established his throne in heaven and his kingdom rules over all. 20 Bless the LORD, you his angels, you mighty heroes who do his word by obeying the sound of his word. 21 Bless the LORD, all you his hosts, you his attendants who do his will. 22 Praise the LORD, all you his works in all places of his dominion. Praise the LORD, O my soul. 104 1 Praise the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, you are very great. You are clothed with honor and majesty, 2 He covers himself with light as with a garment. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain. 3 He lays the beams of his chambers in the waters. He makes the clouds his chariot. He walks on the wings of the wind. 4 He makes winds his angels, and flames of fire his servants. 5 He laid the earth on its foundations; it shall not be shaken forever. 6 You covered it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains. 7 At your rebuke they fled; at the sound of your thunder they ran off. 8 they ascend by the mountains; they descend by the valleys to the place you founded for them. 9 You have set a boundary they cannot cross; they will never again cover the earth. 10 He causes springs to gush forth into rivers that flow between the mountains. 11 They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild donkeys quench their thirst. 12 The birds of the sky nest by them, they sing among the branches. 13 He watereth the mountains from his upper-chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works. 14 He causes grass to sprout for the cattle and plants for people to cultivate, to produce food from the land, 15 and wine that gladdens the heart of man and oil to make his face to shine and bread that strengthens man's heart. 16 The trees of the LORD are satisfied the cedars of Lebanon that He planted; 17 where the birds make their nests. The stork makes its home in the fir trees. 18 The high mountains are for the wild goats; the rocks are a refuge for the conies 19 He made the moon for seasons; the sun knows its going down. 20 You bring darkness and it becomes night; when every beast of the forest prowls. 21 The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their food from God. 22 The sun rises, and they steal away, and lie down in their dens. 23 Man goes out to his work, to his labor until the evening. 24 How manifold are Thy works, O LORD! In wisdom hast Thou made them all; the earth is full of Thy creatures. 25 The sea is so big and wide with many creatures, living things both large and small. 26 There the ships go, and leviathan, whom you formed to play there. 27 They all wait for you to give them their food at the proper time. 28 You give to them; they gather. You open your hand; they are satisfied with good. 29 You hide your face, they are terrified. You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust. 30 When you send your spirit, they are created, and you replenish the surface of the earth. 31 May the glory of the LORD endure for ever; let the LORD rejoice in His works! 32 He looks at the earth, and it trembles. He touches the mountains, and they smoke. 33 I will sing to the LORD all my life. I will sing praise to my God as long as I exist. 34 May my meditation be pleasing to him. I will be glad in the LORD. 35 Let the sinners perish from the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless the LORD, O my soul. Praise the LORD! 105 1 O give thanks to the LORD, call upon his name. Make known among the peoples his practices. 2 Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; talk of all His wonderful works. 3 Glory in his holy name. Let the heart of those who seek the LORD rejoice. 4 Seek ye the LORD and his strength: seek his face always. 5 Remember His wonders that He has done, His miracles, and the judgments of His mouth, 6 O seed of Abraham, His servant, O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones. 7 He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth. 8 He remembered his covenant forever, the word he commanded to a thousand generations. 9 Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath to Isaac; 10 He presented it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant. 11 saying, To you I will give the land of Canaan, the portion of your inheritance; 12 When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it. 13 they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another. 14 He suffered no man to do them wrong, yea, for their sake He reproved kings: 15 "Do not touch my anointed ones. Do my prophets no harm." 16 He called for a famine on the land, He destroyed the piles of food. 17 He sent a man before them. Joseph was sold for a slave. 18 They bruised his feet with shackles. His neck was locked in irons, 19 until his word came to pass; till the oracle of the Lord tried him. 20 The king sent and released him, even the ruler of peoples, and let him go free. 21 He made him master of his house, and ruler of all his possession. 22 To bind his princes at his pleasure, and teach his elders wisdom. 23 Then Israel came to Egypt. Jacob lived as a foreigner in the land of Ham. 24 And he made his people very fruitful. He also made them stronger than their enemies. 25 He turned their heart to hate his people, to conspire against his servants. 26 He sent Moses, his servant, and Aaron, whom he had chosen. 27 They performed his signs among them, his wonders in the land of Ham. 28 He sent darkness, and made it dark. And they rebelled against his words. 29 He turned their waters into blood, and caused their fish to die. 30 Their land swarmed with frogs, even in the rooms of their kings. 31 He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, and gnats in all their country. 32 He turned their rain into hail, into flaming fire in their land. 33 And he struck their vines and fig trees, and shattered the trees of their territory. 34 He spoke, and the locusts came, and the grasshoppers, without number, 35 They consumed every green plant in their land, and devoured the fruit of their soil. 36 He struck also all the firstborn in their land, the first fruits of all their manhood. 37 He brought Israel out with silver and gold, and no one among his tribes stumbled. 38 Egypt was glad when they departed, because the fear of them had fallen upon them. 39 He spread out a cloud as a covering, And fire, to give light by night, 40 They asked, and he brought quail, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven. 41 He opened a rock, and water gushed out flowing like a river in the desert. 42 For He remembered His holy word and His servant Abraham; 43 He brought his people out with joy, his chosen ones with a song of joy. 44 He gave them the lands of other nations. They inherited what others had worked for. 45 that they might keep his statutes, and observe his laws. Praise the LORD. 106 1 Praise the LORD! Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, for His grace endures forever. 2 Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD, or fully declare all his praise? 3 Blessed are those who observe justice, he who does righteousness at all times. 4 Remember me, O LORD, when you show favor to your people. Look after me when you deliver, 5 That I may see the prosperity of thy chosen ones, that I may rejoice in the joy of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance. 6 We have sinned with our fathers; we have done amiss, and dealt wickedly. 7 Our fathers in Egypt did not understand your wonders. They did not remember your abundant kindnesses. But they rebelled by the Red Sea. 8 But He saved them for His name's sake, to make His mighty power known. 9 He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it was dried up; so he led them through the depths, as through a desert. 10 He saved them from the hand of the one who hated them and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. 11 But waters covered their adversaries; not one of them survived. 12 Then they believed his word and sung his praise. 13 But they quickly forgot his deeds and did not wait for his counsel. 14 but gave in to their craving in the desert, and tested God in the wasteland. 15 And he gave them their request, but sent a wasting disease into their souls. 16 yet they provoked Moses in the camp and Aaron the consecrated of the Lord. 17 the earth opened up and swallowed Dathan; and covered the company of Abiram. 18 a fire burnt in their witness - the flame burnt the wicked: 19 At Mount Horeb they made a statue of a calf. They worshiped an idol made of metal. 20 Thus they exchanged their glory for an image of a bull that eats grass. 21 They forgot God, who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt, 22 wonders in the land of Ham, awesome deeds by the Red Sea. 23 So he said he would exterminate them, had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him, to reverse his wrath from destroying them. 24 Yes, they despised the pleasant land. They did not believe his word, 25 They complained in their tents. They did not obey the LORD. 26 So he lifted up his hand unto them, that he would let them fall in the desert; 27 kill their descendants among the nations, and scatter them throughout various lands. 28 They also attached themselves to Baal of Peor, and they ate sacrifices offered to the dead. 29 Thus they provoked to anger by their deeds, and a plague broke out among them. 30 Then Phinehas stood and intervened, and the plague was stayed; 31 That was credited to him for righteousness, for all generations to come. 32 And they angered Him at the waters of Meribah, and it went ill for Moses because of them; 33 for they rebelled against his spirit so that he babbled with his lips: 34 They did not destroy the peoples, as the LORD commanded them, 35 but they mingled with the nations and learned their works, 36 They served their idols, which became a snare to them. 37 They sacrificed their sons And their daughters to demons; 38 and shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; and the land was defiled with blood, 39 Thus they defiled themselves by their deeds, And they prostituted themselves by their actions." 40 Therefore the Lord was incensed against his people, and abhorred his inheritance. 41 He handed them over to other nations, and those who hated them ruled them. 42 Their enemies oppressed them and made them subject to their power. 43 Many times He delivered them, but they rebelled in their counsel and sank in their iniquities. 44 Yet he looked upon their distress when he heard their cry. 45 he remembered his covenant and according to the multitude of his mercies; 46 He also made them to be pitied by all those who carried them captive. 47 Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from the nations, so that we may give thanks to your holy name and boast in your praise. 48 Thanks be to the LORD the God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say amen. Praise the LORD! 107 1 Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, for His grace endures forever. 2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He redeemed from the hand of the foe; 3 and gathered from the lands, from east and from west, from north and from south. 4 They wandered in desolate wilderness; they found no road to a city where they could live. 5 They were hungry and thirsty: their soul fainted in them. 6 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. 7 He led them in a straight way to find a city where they could live. 8 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his gracious love and his awesome deeds for mankind. 9 For He satisfies the empty soul, and fills the hungry soul with good things, 10 Those who sat in darkness and gloom, prisoners of misery and iron— 11 because they rebelled against the words of God, and despised the counsel of the Most High; 12 And he humbled with trouble their heart; they stumbled, and there was none to help; 13 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. 14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke away their chains. 15 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his gracious love, and for his awesome deeds to mankind. 16 For he has broken the gates of bronze, and cut through bars of iron. 17 Because of their rebellious ways, fools suffered for their iniquities. 18 They loathed all food, and even reached the gates of death. 19 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. 20 He sent his message and healed them. He rescued them from the grave. 21 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his gracious love, and for his awesome deeds for mankind. 22 Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and talk about his works with shouts of joy. 23 As for them who go to sea in ships, and traffick on the mighty waters; 24 they saw the works of the LORD, and his wonderful deeds in the deep. 25 For he spoke and raised up a stormy wind, and it whipped up its waves. 26 They mount up to the heavens, and they go down to the depths: their soul pined away with evils. 27 They reeled and staggered like a drunkard, and they were at their wits' end. 28 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distresses. 29 He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves of the sea are still. 30 Then they are glad because it is calm, so he brings them to their desired haven. 31 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his loyal love and his wonderful deeds for the children of humankind, 32 Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people and praise him in the counsel of the elders. 33 He turns rivers into a desert, water springs into a thirsty ground, 34 and a fruitful land into a salt waste because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it. 35 He turns a desert into a pool of water, and a dry land into water springs. 36 There he settled the hungry, where they built a city to live in. 37 They sowed fields and planted vineyards that yielded a productive harvest. 38 And he blesses them and they multiply greatly, and he does not let their cattle become few. 39 When they become few and they are bent down from the oppression of calamity and grief, 40 he pours contempt on princes and causes them to wander in a trackless waste. 41 Yet he lifts the needy out of their affliction, and increases their families like a flock. 42 The righteous will see this and rejoice, but all the wicked will shut their mouths. 43 Whoever is wise, let him observe these things; Let them consider the benignities of the LORD." 108 1 A Song. A Psalm by David. My heart is steadfast, God. I will sing and I will make music with my soul. 2 Awake, harp and lyre. I will awake the dawn. 3 I will praise you, O LORD, among the people. I will sing praises to you among the nations. 4 For Your grace is great above the heavens, Your faithfulness reaches to the skies. 5 Be exalted, God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth. 6 that your beloved may be rescued; save with your right and answer me. 7 God has spoken from his sanctuary: "In triumph, I will divide Shechem, and measure out the valley of Succoth. 8 Gilead is mine. Manasseh is mine. Ephraim also is my helmet. Judah is my scepter. 9 Moab is My washbasin; Unto Edom shall I fling My sandal; Over Philistia shall I shout in triumph. 10 Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? 11 Will not You, O God, who have rejected us? And will not You, O God, go forth with our armies? 12 Give us help against the enemy, for the help of man is vain. 13 In God we shall do strength, and he will tread down our enemies. 109 1 To the Director. A Davidic psalm.. God, whom I praise, do not be silent, 2 Wicked and deceitful people have opened their mouths against me. They speak against me with lying tongues. 3 And, with words of hatred, have they surrounded me, and have made war upon me without cause: 4 In return for my love they accuse me, though I am in prayer. 5 And they repaid me evil for good: and hatred for my love. 6 Appoint the evil one to oppose him. Let an accuser stand at his right hand. 7 When he is judged, let him come out guilty, and let his prayer become as sin. 8 Let his days be few; and let another take his office of overseer. 9 May his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow. 10 may his children be wandering beggars, let them be sought from their ruins. 11 Let the creditor seize all that he has. Let strangers plunder the fruit of his labor. 12 May no one extend gracious love to him, or show favor to his fatherless children. 13 Let his descendants be cut off. Let their name be blotted out in the next generation. 14 Let the iniquity of his ancestors be remembered before the LORD, and let the sin of his mother not be blotted out. 15 let them be always before the LORD, so that He may cut off the memory of them from the earth; 16 For he didn't think to extend gracious love; he harassed to death the poor, the needy, and the broken hearted. 17 Yea, he loved cursing, and it came to him; he also had no pleasure in blessing, and it was far from him. 18 He put on cursing like a robe, and it has come into his body like water, and into his bones like oil. 19 May those curses wrap around him like a garment, or like a belt that one always wears. 20 May this be the way the LORD repays my accuser, those who speak evil against me. 21 But You, Sovereign LORD, deal kindly with me for Your name's sake; because Your mercy is good, deliver me. 22 For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me. 23 I fade away like an evening shadow. I am shaken off like a locust. 24 My knees are weak through fasting, my body is thin and lacks fat. 25 I am become also a taunt unto them; when they see me, they shake their head. 26 Help me, O LORD my God; save me according to your loyal love, 27 that they may know that this is your hand; that you, LORD, have done it. 28 Let them curse, but you bless. When they arise, they will be put to shame, but your servant will rejoice. 29 May my accusers be clothed with shame and wrapped in their humiliation as with a robe. 30 With my mouth I will greatly thank the Lord; and praise him in the midst of many: 31 for he stands at the right hand of the needy, to save him from those judging his life. 110 1 A Psalm by David. the LORD says to my Lord, Sit at My right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet. 2 the LORD will send out your mighty scepter from Zion; rule in the midst of your enemies. 3 Your people will volunteer in the day of your power. In holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn, you will have the dew of your youth. 4 The LORD has sworn, and will not change his mind: "You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek." 5 The Lord is at your right hand. He will crush kings in the day of his wrath. 6 He will judge among the nations. He will heap up dead bodies. He will crush the ruler of the whole earth. 7 He will drink of the brook in the way; therefore he will lift up his head. 111 1 Praise the LORD! I will thank the LORD with all my heart; in the council of the upright, and of the assembly. 2 Great are the works of the LORD, Sought after by all who delight in them." 3 Glorious and majestic is his doing, and his righteousness endureth for ever. 4 He has made his wonders to be remembered; the LORD is gracious and compassionate. 5 He gives food to those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever. 6 He has shown his people the power of his works, in giving them the heritage of the nations. 7 The works of his hands are faithfulness and justice; all his precepts are reliable. 8 They are sustained forever and ever, done with faithfulness and uprightness. 9 He sent redemption unto his people: he has commanded his covenant forever: holy and awesome is his name. 10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who do them have a good understanding. His praise endures forever. 112 1 Praise Yah! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD; he takes great delight in his commands. 2 His seed will be mighty in the land, the generation of the upright will be blessed. 3 Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. 4 Risen—in darkness, is light to the upright, The gracious and compassionate and righteous. 5 Well will it be with the man who is kind, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with justice. 6 For he will never be shaken. The righteous will be remembered forever. 7 He will not be afraid of evil news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. 8 His heart is secure, he has no fears; in the end he will look in triumph on his adversaries. 9 He has scattered abroad; he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn shall be lifted up with honor. 10 The wicked shall see it, and be vexed; he will gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the longing of the wicked shall perish. 113 1 Praise the LORD! Praise, O servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD. 2 Let the name of the Lord be blessed, now and forevermore. 3 From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised. 4 The LORD is high above all nations, his glory above the heavens. 5 Who is like the LORD our God, who is enthroned on high, 6 who stoops down to view both heaven and earth? 7 He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the dunghill 8 to seat them with princes, with the princes of his people. 9 He settles the barren woman in her home, as a joyful mother of children. Praise the LORD. 114 1 When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of foreign language, 2 Judah became his sanctuary, Israel his dominion. 3 The sea looked and fled; the Jordan turned back; 4 The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs. 5 What was it, you sea, that you fled? You Jordan, that you turned back? 6 O mountains, that you skipped like rams? O hills, like lambs? 7 Tremble, you earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob, 8 who turned the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a spring of waters. 115 1 Not to us, LORD, not to us, but to your name be given glory on account of your gracious love and faithfulness. 2 Why do the nations say, Where is their God now? 3 Our God is in heaven. He does whatever he pleases. 4 Their idols, are silver and gold, the works of the hands of men,— 5 They have mouths, but cannot speak; they have eyes, but cannot see. 6 they have ears, but they cannot hear; they have noses, but they cannot smell; 7 They have hands but they cannot feel: They have feet, but they cannot walk: nor can they utter a sound with their throat. 8 Those who make them will be like them; yes, everyone who trusts in them. 9 House of Israel, trust in the LORD; He is their Help and their Shield." 10 O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. 11 You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD! He is their helper and shield. 12 The LORD remembers us. He will bless us. He will bless the house of Israel. He will bless the house of Aaron. 13 He will bless those who fear the LORD, both small and great. 14 May the LORD give you increase, you and your children. 15 May you be blessed by the LORD, who made heaven and earth. 16 The highest heavens belong to the LORD, but he gave the earth to human beings. 17 The dead do not praise the LORD, nor any who go down into silence, 18 but we will bless the LORD, from now on and forever. Praise the LORD! 116 1 I love the LORD because he has heard my prayer for mercy; 2 Because he has turned his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live. 3 The cords of death compassed me, and the pains of Sheol gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow 4 Then I called on the name of the LORD: "O LORD, please save my life!" 5 The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is compassionate; 6 The LORD preserves the simple. I was brought low, and he saved me. 7 Return to your rest, O soul; for the LORD has blessed you. 8 For You have delivered my soul from death, my eye from tears, my feet from stumbling. 9 I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living. 10 I believed, therefore I said, "I am greatly afflicted." 11 I said in my haste, "All men are liars." 12 How can I repay the LORD for all the good that he has done for me? 13 I will lift up the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD. 14 I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people. 15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. 16 LORD, truly I am your servant. I am your servant, the son of your handmaid. You have freed me from my chains. 17 I will bring you a thanksgiving offering and call on the name of the LORD! 18 I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people, 19 in the courts of the house of the LORD; in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD! 117 1 Praise the LORD, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples. 2 For his mercy is great toward us; and the truth of the LORD [endureth] for ever. Praise ye the LORD 118 1 Give thanks to the LORD for He is good, for His grace endures forever. 2 Let Israel say, "His loyal love is forever." 3 Let the house of Aaron say, "His loyal love is forever." 4 Let those who fear the LORD say, "His loyal love is forever." 5 In my distress I called to the LORD; he answered me and set me free. 6 the LORD is with me, I will not be afraid; what can man do to me? 7 the LORD is for me as my helper, and so I will look in triumph on those who hate me. 8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man. 9 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes. 10 All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the LORD, I cut them off. 11 They surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me. In the name of the LORD I indeed cut them off. 12 They surrounded me like bees but they are quenched like the burning thorns. In the name of the LORD I cut them off. 13 I was pushed, yea pushed so as to fall, Yet the LORD, He helped me." 14 The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. 15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous; the right hand of the LORD does mighty things. 16 the LORD's right hand is exalted; the LORD's right hand does valiantly. 17 I shall not die: but live and proclaim the works of the Lord. 18 The LORD has chastened me severely: but he has not given me over unto death. 19 Open for me the gates of righteousness, and I will go in at them and give thanks to the Lord. 20 This is the gate of the LORD, through which the righteous will enter. 21 I will give thee thanks, for thou hast answered me, and art become my salvation. 22 The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. 23 From the LORD came this; It is marvelous in our eyes. 24 This is the day the LORD has made let us rejoice and be glad in it! 25 O Lord, save me: O Lord, give good success. 26 Blessed be he that comes in the name of the LORD; from the house of the LORD we bless you. 27 The LORD is God, and he has given us light. Bind the sacrifice with cords, even to the horns of the altar. 28 You are my God, and I will give thanks to you. You are my God, I will exalt you. 29 O give thanks to the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endures for ever. 119 1 ALEPH. Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD. 2 Blessed are those who keep his statutes, who seek him with their whole heart. 3 Yes, they do nothing wrong. They walk in his ways. 4 You have commanded your precepts, that we should fully obey them. 5 Oh that my ways were steadfast to obey your statutes! 6 Then I would not be ashamed when I look to all your commands. 7 I will praise you with an upright heart, as I learn your righteous decrees. 8 I will heed your statutes; do not utterly forsake me. 9 BET How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. 10 I have sought you with all of my heart; do not let me drift away from your commands. 11 I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. 12 Praise you, O LORD. Teach me your statutes. 13 With my lips I recount All the ordinances from Your mouth. 14 I rejoice in the way of your witnesses as over all wealth; 15 I will meditate on your precepts, and consider your ways. 16 I am delighted with your statutes; I will not forget your word. 17 GIMEL Do good to your servant. I will live and I will obey your word. 18 Open my eyes that I may observe wonderful things from your law. 19 I am a stranger on the earth. Do not hide your commandments from me. 20 My soul is consumed with longing for your decrees at all times. 21 You rebuke the arrogant, the accursed, who stray from your commands. 22 Remove from me scorn and contempt, for I have kept your testimonies. 23 Though princes sit and slander me, your servant will meditate on your statutes. 24 Yea, Thy testimonies are my delight, they are my counsellors. 25 My soul is laid low in the dust; revive me according to Your word! 26 I declared my ways, and you answered me. Teach me your statutes. 27 Let me understand the teaching of your precepts! Then I will meditate on your wondrous works. 28 My soul is weary with sorrow: strengthen me according to your word. 29 Remove from me the deceptive way, and graciously give me your law. 30 I have chosen the way of truth. I have set your ordinances before me. 31 I cling to your testimonies; O LORD, do not let me be put to shame. 32 I run in the path of your commandments, for you have set my heart free. 33 HEY Teach me, LORD, the way of your statutes. I will keep them to the end. 34 Make me understand, and I will preserve Your law And keep it with all my heart." 35 aim me in the path of your misvoth; for therein I delight: 36 Turn my heart toward your statutes, not toward selfish gain. 37 Turn my eyes away from looking at worthless things. Revive me in your ways. 38 Fulfill your promise to your servant, that you may be feared. 39 Take away my disgrace that I dread, for your ordinances are good. 40 Look, I long for your precepts. Revive me in your righteousness. 41 And let Your benignities come to me, O LORD, Your salvation according to Your promise." 42 Then I will have an answer for the one who taunts me, for I trust your word. 43 Do not snatch the word of truth out of my mouth, for I put my hope in your ordinances. 44 Then I will always keep your Law, forever and ever, 45 I will walk in liberty, for I have sought your precepts. 46 I also will speak of your testimonies before kings and will not be put to shame. 47 I will delight myself in your commandments, because I love them. 48 I will lift up my hands to your commands, which I love, and I will meditate on your statutes. 49 ZAYIN Remember your word to your servant, because you gave me hope. 50 This is my comfort in my misery: that your word preserves my life. 51 The arrogant mock me excessively, but I do not swerve from your Law. 52 I have remembered your ancient ordinances, LORD, and I take comfort in them. 53 Rage seizes me because of the wicked, those who forsake your law. 54 Your statutes have been my songs in the house where I live. 55 In the night I remember your name, LORD, and keep your instruction. 56 This has become mine, that I observe your precepts. 57 You are my Portion, O LORD; I have promised to keep Your words." 58 I have sought your favor with all of my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise. 59 I considered my ways, and turned my steps to your statutes. 60 I will hurry, and not delay, to obey your commandments. 61 The ropes of the wicked bind me, but I won’t forget your law. 62 At midnight I will get up to thank you for your righteous ordinances. 63 I am a friend of all those who fear you, of those who observe your precepts. 64 The earth is full of your loving kindness! O LORD teach me your statutes. 65 TET. Do good to your servant, according to your word, LORD. 66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe in your commandments. 67 Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep your word. 68 You are good and are doing us good; Teach me Your statutes. 69 The arrogant smear me with lies; I keep your precepts with my whole heart. 70 Their heart is callous and fat, but I delight in Your law. 71 It is good for me that I was afflicted, so that I might learn your statutes. 72 The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver. 73 ( ι - [Yod.]) Your hands made and formed me; give me understanding, that I may learn your commands. 74 May those who fear you see me and be glad, for I have hoped in your word. 75 I know, O LORD, that your judgments are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me. 76 Now may Your benignity become my comfort, According to Your promise to Your servant." 77 Let your compassion come to me that I may live, for your law is my delight. 78 Let the arrogant be ashamed, for they subvert me with a lie. I shall meditate on your precepts. 79 Let those who fear you turn to me. They will know your statutes. 80 Let my heart be blameless toward your decrees, that I may not be disappointed. 81 My soul is exhausted looking for Your salvation; I have set my hope in Your word. 82 My eyes fail for your word. I say, "When will you comfort me?" 83 For I am like a wineskin in the smoke; I do not forget Your Precepts. 84 How many days must your servant endure this? When will you judge those who persecute me? 85 The proud have dug pits for me, contrary to your law. 86 All Your commands are faithful; they persecute me with lying; help me! 87 They had almost wiped me from the earth, but I did not forsake your precepts. 88 Preserve my life according to your loving kindness, so I will obey the statutes of your mouth. 89 LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in the heavens. 90 Your faithfulness is throughout all generations. You established the earth, and it stands. 91 Your laws remain to this day, for all things serve you. 92 If your law had not been my delight I would have perished in my affliction. 93 I will never forget your precepts, for with them, you have revived me. 94 I am yours. Save me, for I have sought your precepts. 95 The wicked have waited for me, to destroy me. I will consider your statutes. 96 Of all perfection I saw a limit; thy command is very broad. 97 O How I love your law! It is my meditation all day long. 98 Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, because they are ever with me. 99 I have more insight than all my teachers, for your laws are my meditation. 100 I have more common sense than the elders, for I observe your precepts. 101 I have kept my feet from every evil way, so that I might keep Your Word. 102 I have not departed from your judgments: for you have taught me. 103 How sweet are your words to my taste! Sweeter than honey to my mouth! 104 I obtain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every false way. 105 NUN Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path. 106 I have sworn, and have confirmed it, that I will obey your righteous ordinances. 107 I am afflicted very much. Revive me, O LORD, according to your word. 108 Accept, O Lord, the freewill offerings of my mouth, and teach me Your judgments. 109 Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I do not forget your instruction. 110 The wicked have laid a snare for me, yet I have not gone-astray from your precepts. 111 I inherited thy testimonies forever: for they are the joy of my heart. 112 My heart is ever ready to keep your rules, even to the end. 113 SAMEKH I hate double-minded men, but I love your law. 114 You are my covert and my shield; I hope in Your word. 115 Depart from me, you evildoers, that I may keep the commandments of my God. 116 Sustain me according to your word that I may live. Do not let me be ashamed of my hope. 117 Hold me up, and I shall be safe; and I will always have respect to Your Precepts. 118 You reject all those who stray from your statutes, for their deceit is in vain. 119 You remove all the wicked of the earth like dross; therefore I love your decrees. 120 My flesh trembles for fear of you. I am afraid of your judgments. 121 [Ayin] I have done what is right and just: leave me not to my oppressors. 122 Ensure your servant's well-being. Don't let the proud oppress me. 123 My eyes fail looking for your salvation, for your righteous word. 124 Deal with your servant according to your mercy, and teach me your statutes. 125 I am your servant; give me understanding, that I may know your statutes. 126 It is time to act, LORD, for they break your Law. 127 Therefore I love your commandments more than gold, yes, more than pure gold. 128 Therefore I consider all of your precepts to be right. I hate every false way. 129 Your laws are wonderful. Therefore I obey them! 130 The unfolding of your words gives light. It gives understanding to the simple. 131 I open my mouth and pant as I long for your commands. 132 Turn to me, and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name. 133 Fix my steps in Your word; and let no evil rule over me. 134 Redeem me from the oppression of man, that I may keep your precepts. 135 Make your face shine upon your servant, and teach me your statutes. 136 Streams of waters flowed down my eyes when I kept not your law. 137 {Tsadi} Righteous art thou, O LORD, and true is thy judgment. 138 You have commanded Your statutes in righteousness; they are fully trustworthy. 139 My zeal wears me out, because my enemies ignore your words. 140 Your promises have been thoroughly tested, and your servant loves them. 141 I am small and despised. I do not forget your precepts. 142 Your righteousness is forever, and Your law is truth. 143 Trouble and anguish have taken hold of me, but Your commandments are my delight. 144 Your laws are righteous forever. Give me understanding that I may live. 145 I cried with all my heart. Answer me, O LORD! I will observe your statutes. 146 I call out to You; O save me, And I will keep Your testimonies." 147 I rise before dawn and cry for help. I put my hope in your words. 148 My eyes stay open through the night watches, that I might meditate on your word. 149 Hear my voice according to your loving kindness. Give me life, O LORD, according to your ordinances. 150 Those who pursue a wicked purpose draw near; they are far from your law. 151 You are near, O LORD, and all your commands are truth. 152 Of old I have known from your laws that you have founded them forever. 153 Resh. Look on my affliction and deliver me; for I do not forget Your law. 154 Defend my case and redeem me; revive me according to your promise. 155 Salvation is far from the wicked, for they do not seek your statutes. 156 Your mercies are great, O LORD; preserve my life according to your ordinances. 157 Many are they that persecute me and oppress me; but I have not declined from Your testimonies. 158 I look at the faithless with loathing, because they do not observe your word. 159 See how I love your precepts; enliven me, O Yah Veh, according to your mercy. 160 All of your words are truth. Every one of your righteous ordinances endures forever. 161 Princes persecute me without cause, but my heart trembles because of your word. 162 I rejoice at your word, as one who finds great spoil. 163 I hate and abhor falsehood but I love Your law. 164 Seven times in a day I praise You For Your righteous ordinances. 165 Great peace have they who love thy law: and nothing shall cause them to stumble. 166 I hope for your salvation, O LORD, and do your commands. 167 I obey your laws and love them exceedingly. 168 I have obeyed your precepts and your testimonies, for all my ways are before you. 169 Let my cry come before you, O LORD; give me understanding according to your word. 170 Let my supplication come before you: deliver me according to your word. 171 May my lips utter praise, for you teach me your statutes. 172 Let my tongue sing of your word, for all your commandments are righteousness. 173 Let your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts. 174 I long for your salvation, O LORD, and your law is my delight. 175 Let me live that it may praise you. May your ordinances help me. 176 I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek Your servant; for I have not forgotten Your commandments. 120 1 A Song of Ascents. I cried to the LORD in my distress, and he responded to me. 2 Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue! 3 What shall be given to you, and what more shall be done to you, deceitful tongue? 4 The arrows of the hero sharpened, with burning coals of broom. 5 Woe is me, that I live in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar! 6 I have lived too long with those who hate peace. 7 I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war. 121 1 A Song of Ascents. I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not give your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. 5 the LORD is your protector; the LORD is your shade at your right hand. 6 The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The LORD will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. 8 The LORD will guard your goings and comings, from this time on and forever. 122 1 A song of ascents. Of David. I rejoiced in those who said to me, "Let us go to the house of the LORD." 2 Our feet are standing In your gateways, O Jerusalem, 3 Jerusalem is built as a city that is compact together: 4 Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, to the testimony of Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD. 5 for there the thrones of judgment settle - the thrones of the house of David. 6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May those who love you be at ease. 7 May peace be within your walls, security within your palaces." 8 For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will say, "Peace be within you." 9 For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your good. 123 1 A song of ascents. I lift up my eyes to you, the one enthroned in the heavens. 2 Look, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress; so our eyes look to the LORD, our God, until he has mercy on us. 3 Have mercy on us, LORD, have mercy on us, for we have endured much contempt. 4 For long enough have men of pride made sport of our soul. 124 1 A Song of degrees of David. ¶ If the LORD had not been for us, now may Israel say, 2 if the LORD had not been on our side, when men came against us, 3 then they had swallowed us alive when they kindled their wrath against us: 4 Then the flood waters would have overwhelmed us, the torrent would have flooded over us; 5 the swollen waters would have swept us away. 6 Praise be to the Lord, who has not let us be wounded by their teeth. 7 Our soul has escaped like a bird out of the fowlers' snare; the snare is broken, and we have escaped. 8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, the maker of heaven and earth. 125 1 A song of ascents. Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever. 2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people from this time forth and forevermore. 3 For the scepter of wickedness won't remain over the allotment of the righteous; so that the righteous won't use their hands to do evil. 4 Do good, O Lord, to those who are good, and to those who are upright in heart. 5 And those who turn aside to their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them with the evildoers. Peace be upon Israel. 126 1 When the LORD brought back those who returned to Zion, we were like those who dream. 2 Then our mouths were filled with laughter, and our tongues formed joyful shouts. Then it was said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them." 3 The LORD has done great things for us, and we are glad. 4 Restore our fortunes again, LORD, like the streams in the Negev. 5 Those who sow in tears will reap in joy. 6 He who goes out weeping, carrying seed for sowing, will certainly come again with joy, carrying his sheaves. 127 1 A Song of Ascents. By Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, they who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman guards it in vain. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones. 3 Children are an inheritance from the LORD. They are a blessing from him. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth. 5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them. They shall not be put to shame when they speak with their enemies in the gate. 128 1 A song of ascents. Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, who walks in his ways. 2 for you eat the labor of your palms; blithed - and good with you 3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house. Your children will be like olive shoots about your table. 4 Look, thus is the man blessed who fears the LORD. 5 May the LORD bless you from Zion so that you may see Jerusalem prosper all the days of your life. 6 And may you see your children's children. Peace be upon Israel. 129 1 A song of ascents. "Too often they have attacked me from my youth." Let Israel say, 2 Often they distressed me from my youth, Yet they have not prevailed over me. 3 The plowers plowed on my back. They made their furrows long. 4 The LORD is righteous he has cut me free from the cords of the wicked. 5 Let all who hate Zion be turned away and be ashamed. 6 Let them be like grass on the housetops, that withers before it grows up, 7 with which a reaper cannot fill his hand, nor the binder of sheaves his arms, 8 Nor do those who pass by say: "The blessing of the LORD be upon you! We bless you in the name of the LORD." 130 1 A song of ascents. Out of the depths I call to you, O LORD. 2 Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my petitions. 3 If you, LORD, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? 4 But with you there is forgiveness, so that you may be feared. 5 I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in His Word I hope. 6 My soul longs for the Lord more than watchmen long for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning. 7 O Israel, hope in the LORD; for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption 8 He will redeem Israel from all their sins. 131 1 LORD, my heart isn't haughty, nor my eyes lofty; nor do I concern myself with great matters, or things too wonderful for me. 2 Surely I have stilled and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with his mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me. 3 O Israel, hope in the LORD from now until forever. 132 1 [A song of ascents.] LORD, remember David, and all his afflictions: 2 Remember how he swore an oath to the LORD and made this vow to the Mighty One of Jacob. 3 "I will not enter my house, or lie down on my bed, 4 I will give no sleep to my eyes, no slumber to my eyelids, 5 until I find out a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob." 6 We heard about it in Ephrata; we found it in the fields of Jaar. 7 Let us go to his dwelling place. Let us worship at his footstool. 8 Arise, LORD, and go to your resting place, you and the ark of your strength. 9 Let your priests be clothed with righteousness. Let your saints shout for joy!” 10 For the sake of your servant David do not reject your anointed one. 11 The LORD made an oath to David from which he will not retreat: "One of your sons I will set in place on your throne. 12 If your sons keep my covenant and my statutes that I will teach them, then their sons will also sit on your throne forever." 13 For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling. 14 "This is my resting place forever. Here I will live, for I have desired it. 15 I will bless its provisions abundantly; I will satiate its poor with food.f 16 And I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints shall shout aloud for joy. 17 There I will cause a horn to grow for David; I will set a lamp for my anointed one. 18 I will clothe his enemies with shame, but on himself, his crown will be resplendent." 133 1 A song of ascents. Of David. Look, how good and how pleasant it is when brothers dwell together in unity. 2 It is like the precious oil upon the head, coming down upon the beard, Aaron's beard, coming down upon the edge of his robes. 3 Like the dew of Hermon, which fell upon the hill of Zion. For there the LORD promised his blessing, and life forevermore. 134 1 Behold, praise the LORD, all you servants of the LORD, who stand by night in the house of the LORD. 2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and praise the LORD. 3 May the LORD who fashions heaven and earth bless you from Zion. 135 1 Praise the LORD. Praise the name of the LORD. Praise him, you servants of the LORD, 2 you who stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God. 3 Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good. Sing praises to his name, for that is pleasant. 4 For the LORD has chosen Jacob for himself; Israel for his own possession. 5 For I know that the LORD is great, and our Lord is greater than all gods. 6 The LORD does whatever pleases him in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all its deep regions. 7 He causes clouds to rise from the edge of the earth; he makes lightnings for the rain; he brings out the wind from his storehouses. 8 He struck the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and animal. 9 He sent signs and wonders into your midst, O Egypt, against Pharaoh and all his servants. 10 He struck many nations, and killed mighty kings, 11 Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan, 12 and he gave their land as an inheritance, an inheritance to his people Israel. 13 Your name, LORD, endures forever; your renown, LORD, throughout all generations. 14 For the LORD will judge his people, and have compassion on his servants. 15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, Work of the hands of man. 16 They have a mouth, but cannot speak: eyes they have, but they cannot see; 17 they have ears, but they do not hear, nor is there breath in their mouths. 18 Those who make them will be like them, yes, everyone who trusts in them. 19 O house of Israel, praise the LORD. O house of Aaron, praise the LORD. 20 O house of Levi, praise the LORD. You who fear the LORD, praise the LORD. 21 Blessed be the LORD from Zion, Who dwells at Jerusalem. Praise the LORD. 136 1 Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; for His grace endures forever. 2 Give thanks to the God of gods; for His grace endures forever. 3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords; for His grace endures forever: 4 to Him who alone does great wonders; for His grace endures forever: 5 to Him who by understanding made the heavens; for His grace endures forever: 6 to Him who spread out the earth above the waters; for His grace endures forever: 7 Who made the great lights: for his mercy endureth for ever. 8 the sun to rule by day; for His grace endures forever; 9 the moon and stars to rule by night; for His grace endures forever: 10 to Him who struck down the Egyptian firstborn; for His grace endures forever; 11 and brought Israel out from among them; for His mercy endures forever; 12 With a mighty hand and stretched-out arm! For his mercy endureth forever. 13 to Him who divided the Red Sea apart; for His grace endures forever; 14 and brought Israel through the midst of it; for His mercy endures forever; 15 but threw Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea; for His mercy endures forever. 16 to him, who led his people through the desert; for his mercy endureth forever; 17 To Him who struck down great kings; for His mercy endures forever; 18 and killed mighty kings; for His grace endures forever: 19 Sihon king of the Amorites; for His grace endures forever; 20 and Og king of Bashan; for His mercy endures forever; 21 and gave their land as an inheritance; for His grace endures forever; 22 an inheritance to His servant Israel; for His mercy endures forever; 23 For the Lord remembered us in our low estate; for His mercy endures forever; 24 and redeemed us from our enemies; for His mercy endures forever. 25 who gives food to every creature; for His grace endures forever. 26 Give thanks to the God of heaven; for His mercy endures forever. 137 1 By the waters of Babylon we sat down; and wept, when we remembered Zion. 2 On the willows there we hung our harps, 3 For there, those who led us captive asked us for songs. Those who tormented us demanded songs of joy: "Sing us one of the songs of Zion." 4 How could we sing the song of the LORD in a foreign land? 5 If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its skill. 6 Let my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth if I do not remember you, if I do not consider Jerusalem my highest joy. 7 Remember, O LORD, against the sons of Edom, the day of Jerusalem; who said, Lay [it] bare, Lay [it] bare, down to its foundation! 8 Daughter of Babylon, doomed to destruction, he will be happy who repays you, as you have done to us. 9 Blessed is he who seizes your little ones and dashes them against the stone! 138 1 Of David. I give you thanks with my whole heart; before the gods I sing your praise. 2 I will bow down toward Your holy temple, and give thanks to Your Name for Your grace and for Your truth; for You have exalted above all things your name and your word. 3 When I called, you answered me. You made me bold. You strengthened me. 4 All the kings of the earth shall praise you, O LORD, when they hear the words of your mouth. 5 Yes, they shall sing in the ways of the LORD; for the glory of the LORD is great. 6 Though the LORD is high, yet He looks upon the lowly; but the proud He knows from afar. 7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve me alive. You stretch out your hand against the anger of my enemies, and you save me with your right hand. 8 the LORD will perfect His work in me; Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever; do not forsake the work of Your own hands. 139 1 For the music director. Of David. A psalm. O LORD, you have searched me, and you know me. 2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up. You understand my thought from afar. 3 Thou measurest my going about and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. 4 For not a word is on my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, You know it all. 5 You hem me in behind and before, You have laid Your hand on me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; too high, I cannot attain unto it. 7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence? 8 If I go up to heaven, you are there: or if I make my bed in the underworld, you are there. 9 If I lift up the wings of the dawn, and I alight on the far side of the sea, 10 even there your hand will lead me, and your right hand will hold me. 11 If I say: Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light around me. 12 even the darkness doesn’t hide from you, but the night shines as the day. The darkness is like light to you. 13 For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you, because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works, and my soul knows it well. 15 My frame wasn’t hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my embryo and all were written in your book; the days ordained for me. Even this before one had taken place. 17 How precious to me are your thoughts, God. How vast is the sum of them. 18 If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with you. 19 If only you, God, would kill the wicked. Get away from me, you bloodthirsty men! 20 For they go against you with evil designs, and your haters make sport of your name. 21 Do I not hate those who hate you, O LORD? And do I not loathe those who rise up against you? 22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them my enemies. 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. 140 1 For the music director. A psalm of David. Rescue me, O LORD, from evil men. Preserve me from violent men, 2 who craft evil plans in their minds, inciting wars every day. 3 They sharpen their tongue as sharp as a snake's; the venom of a viper is under their lips. Selah 4 Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the man of violence, who have purposed to overthrow my steps. 5 The proud have hidden a snare for me, they have spread the cords of a net by the path. They have set traps for me. Selah. 6 I have said to the Lord, You are my God: give ear, O Lord, to the voice of my prayer. 7 LORD, my Lord, my strong deliverer, you have protected my head in the time of battle. 8 LORD, do not grant the desires of the wicked. Do not let their evil plans succeed, or they will become proud. Selah. 9 Let the heads of those who surround me be covered with their own threats. 10 Let burning coals fall upon them! Let them be cast into fire, into miry pits, no more to rise. 11 Let not the slanderer become established in the land. May evil quickly hunt down the violent man. 12 I know that the lord shall deal with the case of the poor, and the cause of the needy. 13 Surely the righteous will give thanks to your name, while the upright live in your presence. 141 1 A Psalm of David. O LORD, I cry to You; hasten to me; hear my voice when I cry to You. 2 Let my prayer be set before you like incense; the lifting up of my hands like the evening sacrifice. 3 Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips. 4 Let not my heart turn aside to any evil thing, to practice wicked works with men who work iniquity; and let me not eat of their delicacies. 5 Let the righteous strike me, it is kindness; let him reprove me, it is like oil on the head; don't let my head refuse it; Yet my prayer is always against evil deeds. 6 Their judges are thrown down by the sides of the rock. They will hear my words, for they are well spoken. 7 As when one plows and breaks up the earth, so our bones are scattered at the mouth of Sheol. 8 But my eyes are on You, O Sovereign LORD; in You I take refuge, do not leave my soul naked. 9 Keep me from the snare which they have laid for me, from the traps of evildoers. 10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass over. 142 1 I cry with my voice to the LORD. With my voice, I ask the LORD for mercy. 2 I pour out my complaint before him. I tell him my troubles. 3 When my spirit faints within me, you know my way. On the path where I walk, they have hidden a trap for me; 4 Look on my right, and see; for there is no one who is concerned for me. Refuge has fled from me. No one cares for my soul. 5 I cry out to you, O LORD. I say, "You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living." 6 Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need. Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me. 7 Release me from prison so that I may praise your name. Righteous people will surround me because you are good to me. 143 1 A psalm of David. O LORD, hear my prayer; listen to my supplications. In your faithfulness answer me, and in your righteousness. 2 And do not enter into judgment with your servant, because no one alive is righteous before you. 3 For the enemy has pursued my soul; he has crushed my life to the ground. He has made me dwell in dark places like those long dead. 4 And so my spirit grows faint within me; my heart within me is desolate. 5 I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your doings. I muse on the labor of your hands. 6 I spread out my hands to you. My soul thirsts for you, like a parched land. Selah. 7 Answer me quickly, O LORD for my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me or I will become like those who go down to the pit. 8 In the morning let me hear of your gracious love, for in you I trust. Cause me to know the way I should take, because I have set my hope on you. 9 Deliver me from my enemies, O LORD. I take refuge in you. 10 Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground. 11 For your name's sake, O LORD, preserve my life; in your righteousness bring me out of trouble. 12 In your loving kindness, cut off my enemies and destroy all those who afflict me. For I am your servant. 144 1 By David. Blessed is the LORD my rock, who is teaching My hands for war, my fingers for battle. 2 my loyal love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, and one in whom I take refuge, the one who subdues peoples under me. 3 LORD, what is man, that you care for him? Or the son of man, that you think of him? 4 Man is like the breath: his days are like a passing shadow. 5 Part your heavens, LORD, and come down. Touch the mountains, and they will smoke. 6 Send forth lightning and scatter the enemy, shoot your arrows and confuse them. 7 Stretch out your hands from on high; Rescue me and deliver me from many waters, from the hand of foreigners, 8 Their mouths speak lies, and their right hand deceives, 9 I will sing a new song to you, God. On a ten-stringed lyre, I will sing praises to you. 10 You who gives salvation to kings, who delivers His servant David from the evil sword. 11 Rescue me and deliver me from the control of foreigners, whose mouths speak lies, and whose right hand deceives. 12 Then our sons will be like well-nurtured plants, our daughters like pillars carved to adorn a palace. 13 Our barns will be full, filled with all kinds of provision; our sheep will bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our fields. 14 Our oxen will pull heavy loads, there will be no breaking in and no going away, and no crying in our streets. 15 Blessed are the people who have it thus. Blessed are the people whose God is the LORD. 145 1 A praise psalm by David. I will exalt you, my God, the King. I will praise your name forever and ever. 2 Every day I will praise you. I will extol your name forever and ever. 3 Great is the LORD, and very worthy of praise, and his greatness is unsearchable. 4 One generation will commend your works to another, and will declare your mighty acts. 5 I will speak of the glorious honor of Your majesty, and of Your wonderful works. 6 And they will speak of the power of your awesome deeds, and I will tell of your greatness. 7 They will utter the memory of your great goodness, and will sing of your righteousness. 8 the LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and great in loyal love. 9 the LORD is good to all, And His compassions are over all His works." 10 All your works will give thanks to you, the LORD. Your saints will extol you. 11 They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom, and talk of Your might; 12 To make known to the children of men his mighty acts, and the glorious splendour of his kingdom. 13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. Your dominion endures throughout all generations. the LORD is faithful in all his words, and loving in all his deeds. 14 the LORD upholds all who fall, and raises up all who are bowed down. 15 The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food in due time. 16 You open your hand, and satisfy the desire of every living thing. 17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and faithful in all his deeds. 18 the LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. 19 He fulfilleth the desire of them that fear him; he heareth their cry, and saveth them. 20 the LORD watches over all those who love Him; but all the wicked He will destroy. 21 My mouth will speak the praise of the LORD! All flesh will praise his holy name forever and ever. 146 1 Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul. 2 I will praise the LORD while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I am still alive. 3 Don’t put your trust in princes, in a son of man in whom there is no help. 4 When they stop breathing, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans evaporate! 5 Blessed is he whose helper is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God: 6 who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them, the one who keeps faith forever, 7 He executes justice for the oppressed. He gives food to the hungry. the LORD sets the prisoners free. 8 the LORD gives sight to the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are weighed down. The LORD loves the righteous. 9 the LORD protects the strangers. Praise the LORD. 147 1 Praise the LORD, for it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant and fitting to praise him. 2 the LORD builds up Jerusalem; He gathers the outcasts of Israel. 3 He heals the broken-hearted, and binds up their wounds. 4 He determines the number of the stars; he calls them all by their names. 5 Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; his understanding is infinite 6 The LORD upholds the humble. He brings the wicked down to the ground. 7 Sing to the LORD a song of thanksgiving. Make music to our God with a harp. 8 He covers the sky with clouds. He provides rain for the ground. He makes grass grow on the mountains. 9 He provides food for the livestock, and for the young ravens when they call. 10 He takes no delight in the strength of the horse, nor any pleasure in the legs of a man. 11 the LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him, the ones who hope for his loyal love. 12 Laud the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise your God, O Zion, 13 for he strengthens the bars of your gates. He blesses your children within you; 14 He grants peace within your borders, satisfying you with the finest of wheat. 15 He sends out his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly. 16 He gives snow like wool: he scatters the frost like ashes. 17 He hurls down his hail like pebbles. Who can stand before his cold? 18 He sends out his word and melts them; he blows his breath, the water flows. 19 He speaks his word to Jacob, his laws and judgments to Israel. 20 He has not done this for just any nation. They do not know his ordinances. Praise the LORD. 148 1 Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens. Praise him in the heights above. 2 Praise him, all his angels: praise him, all his hosts. 3 Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars. 4 Praise him, you highest heaven and the water above the sky. 5 Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created. 6 And he put them in place forever and ever, by a decree he gave that will not pass away. 7 Praise the LORD from the earth, you great sea creatures, and all depths. 8 lightning and hail, snow and clouds; stormy wind, fulfilling his word; 9 Ye mountains, and all hills, fruit trees, and all cedars; 10 wild animals and all livestock; small creatures and flying birds; 11 Ye kings of the earth, and all nations; ye princes, and all judges of the earth; 12 young men and maidens, old men and children, 13 Let them praise the name of the LORD: for his name alone is exalted; his majesty is above the earth and the heavens. 14 He also lifts up the horn of His people, the praise of all His saints, of the sons of Israel, a people near to Him, Praise the LORD. 149 1 Praise the LORD! Let them make music to him with tambourines and lyres. 4 For the LORD takes pleasure in his people. He crowns the humble with salvation. 5 Let the saints rejoice in honor. Let them sing for joy on their beds. 6 May the high praises of God be in their mouths, and a two-edged sword in their hand, 7 to execute vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, 8 to bind their kings with fetters, and their nobles with manacles of iron; 9 to carry out on them the judgment written; this is an honor for all His saints. Praise the LORD! 150 1 Praise the LORD! Praise God in his holy place. Praise him in his mighty heavens. 2 Praise him for his mighty acts.
