To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. Blessed is he who acts wisely toward the poor; the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.
The LORD will protect him and keep him alive; he will be blessed in the land; and he will not be handed over to the desires of his enemies.
The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed, and restore him from his bed of illness.
I said, "LORD, have mercy on me. Heal me, for I have sinned against you."
My enemies speak evil of me, saying, When will he die, and his name perish?
And when one comes to see me, he speaks falsely; his heart gathers disaster for itself. He goes out to the street; he speaks.
All who hate me whisper together against me. They imagine the worst for me.
An evil disease, they say, has afflicted him. Now that he lies he shall rise up no more.
Even my close friend in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.
But you, LORD, have mercy on me, and raise me up, that I may repay them.
By this I know that you are pleased with me, because my enemy does not shout in triumph over me.
And I, in my integrity You uphold me; and You set me before Your face forever.
Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen.
