O LORD, hear my prayer, and let my cry for help come to you. ² Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress. Incline your ear to me. In the day when I call answer me quickly. ³ For my days vanish like smoke, And my bones burn hot like glowing embers." ⁴ My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread. ⁵ Because of the sound of my groaning my bones cling to my skin. ⁶ I have become like a pelican of the wilderness; ⁷ I lie awake, I have become like a lonely bird on a housetop. ⁸ All day long my enemies have reproached me. Those who deride me used my name as a curse. ⁹ I have eaten ashes as food and mixed my drink with tears ¹⁰ because of your indignation and your wrath; for you have taken me up and thrown me away. ¹¹ My days are like a lengthened shadow and I wither away like grass. ¹² But you, LORD, will abide forever; your renown endures to all generations. ¹³ You will arise to extend compassion on Zion, for it is time to show her favor the appointed time has come. ¹⁴ (102:15) For thy servants hold dear her stones, and her very dust they cherish. ¹⁵ So the nations will fear the name of the LORD; all the kings of the earth your glory. ¹⁶ For the Lord will rebuild Sion and appear in his glory. ¹⁷ He will turn to the prayer of the destitute, and will not despise their prayer. ¹⁸ Let this be written for a later generation, When a people yet being created shall praise Yah." ¹⁹ For he looketh down from his sanctuary; out of the heaven doth the LORD behold the earth, ²⁰ to hear the groans of the prisoner; to free those who are condemned to death; ²¹ That the name of the LORD may be declared in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem, ²² when the peoples and the kingdoms are gathered together to serve the LORD. ²³ He hath prostrated, in the way, my strength,—He hath shortened my days. ²⁴ Do not take me away in the midst of my days; Your years are through all generations. ²⁵ In the beginning You, O Lord, laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of Your hands. ²⁶ "They will perish, but you endure. All of them will wear out like a garment; like clothing you will renew them and they will be renewed. ²⁷ But you remain the same; your years never end. ²⁸ The children of your servants will continue, and their descendants will be established before you."
