VIN(i)
The word of the LORD came to Jonah a second time:
"Arise and go to the great city, Nineveh. Proclaim to it the proclamation I give you."
And Jonah arose and went to Nineveh, according to the Word of the LORD. And Nineveh was a very great city of three days' journey.
And Jonah began to enter a day's journey into the city. And he cried out and said, Yet forty days and Nineveh shall be overthrown!
And the men of Ninive believed God and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth from the greatest to the least.
The news reached the king of Nineveh and he arose from his throne, took off his royal robe, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
And he cried out and said in Nineveh by the decree of the king and his great ones, saying, Do not let man or beast, herd or flock taste anything; do not let them feed, nor drink water.
but let man and beast be covered with sackcloth and cry mightily unto God; and let each one turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands.
Who knows? God may relent and change his mind and turn from his blazing anger so that we will not perish."
