Hosea 8

VIN(i) 1 Put to your lips the trumpet like a vulture over the house of the LORD, because they have broken my covenant and rebelled against my law. 2 Israel shall cry to me, My God, we know you. 3 Israel has cast off what is good. The enemy will pursue him. 4 They appointed kings, but not through me; they made officials, but without my knowledge. With their silver and gold they made idols for themselves for their own destruction. 5 Your calf is rejected, O Samaria; my anger burns against them. How long will they be incapable of innocence? 6 For from Israel it came also. The craftsman made it, but it is not God. For the calf of Samaria shall be splinters. 7 For they sow the wind, and they reap the whirlwind. He has no stalk; the bud shall make no flour. If it does make it, strangers will swallow it up. 8 Israel is swallowed up. Now they are among the nations like a worthless thing. 9 For they have gone up to Assyria, like a wild donkey wandering alone. Ephraim has hired lovers for himself. 10 But although they sold themselves among the nations, I will now gather them; and they begin to waste away because of the oppression of the king of mighty ones. 11 Because Ephraim has made many altars for sin offerings, the altars shall be unto him for sinning. 12 I wrote for him the many things of my law; but they were regarded as a strange thing. 13 They offer sacrifices of my choice and they eat flesh; the LORD does not accept them. Now he will remember their iniquity and punish their sins; they will return to Egypt. 14 "Israel has neglected its maker in building palaces. Judah has multiplied its fortified cities, but I will send fire to their cities, and it will consume their fortresses."
