Deuteronomy 11

VIN(i) 1 Love the LORD thy God and keep his observances, his ordinances, his laws and his commandments always. 2 Know this day—for I don't speak with your children who have not known, and who have not seen the chastisement of the LORD your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, his outstretched arm, 3 His signs and His deeds that He did in the midst of Egypt to Pharaoh king of Egypt and to all his country 4 what he did to the Egyptian army, its horses and chariots, when he caused the waters of the Reed Sea to engulf them as they pursued you; how the LORD destroyed them, even to this day; 5 and what he did to you in the desert until you came up to this place, 6 "And what he did to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben, when the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, their households, their tents, and every living thing that followed them in all Israel. 7 Your very own eyes saw all the great things that the LORD did." 8 "Keep all the commands that I'm giving you today, so you can be strong enough to enter and possess the land that you are crossing over to inherit 9 and that you may prolong your days in the land, which the LORD swore to your fathers to give to them and to their descendants, a land flowing with milk and honey. 10 "The land you are entering to possess is not like the land of Egypt from which you came. You used to sow your seed and irrigate it with your foot as in a vegetable garden. 11 but the land, you pass over to possess is a land of mountains and valleys; and drinks water of the rain of the heavens: 12 a land which the LORD your God cares for; the eyes of the LORD your God are constantly on it from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. 13 »If you faithfully obey my commandments that I give you today, love the LORD your God, and serve him with all your heart and with all your being, 14 then he will send rain on the land in its season the early and latter rains then you'll gather grain, new wine, and oil. 15 He will provide grass on the fields for your livestock, and you'll eat and be satisfied. 16 Be careful, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn away to serve other gods and worship them; 17 and the LORD`s wrath kindle against you, and he shut up the heavens, that there be no rain, and that the ground yield not its produce, and ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD is giving you. 18 Lay up these words in your hearts and minds, and hang them for a sign on your hands, and place them between your eyes. 19 Teach them to your sons, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk on the road, when you lie down and when you arise. 20 "Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. 21 so that your days and the days of your sons may be multiplied in the land which the LORD swore to give to your fathers, like the days of the heavens upon the earth. 22 "If you carefully observe all of these commands that I'm giving you to do to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cling to him, 23 then the LORD will drive out all of these nations before you, and you will dispossess nations larger and more numerous than you. 24 "Every place on which the sole of your foot treads will be yours. Your border will be from the wilderness to Lebanon, and from the river, the river Euphrates, as far as the western sea. 25 No one will be able to stand against you. The LORD your God will instill terror and fear of you throughout the entire land wherever you go, just as he promised you. 26 "See I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse: 27 a blessing if you obey the commands of the LORD your God that I'm giving you today, 28 or a curse if you don't obey the commands of the LORD your God, by turning from the way that I'm commanding you today and following other gods whom you have not known." 29 "When the LORD your God brings you into the land you are about to possess, you will offer blessings on Mount Gerizim and cursing on Mount Ebal. 30 "Are they not across the Jordan toward the setting sun? Are they in the land of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah, opposite Gilgal, beside the oaks (big trees) of Moreh? 31 "You are about to cross the Jordan to go in to possess the land the LORD your God is giving you. You must possess it and live in it, 32 Be careful to obey all the statutes and ordinances that I'm placing before you today."
