Amos 2

VIN(i) 1 Thus says the Lord; For three sins of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away from it, because they burnt the bones of the king of Edom to lime. 2 "I will send a fire to Moab, and it will devour the palaces of Kerioth. Moab will die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet! 3 "I will destroy her ruler and government officials along with him," said the LORD. 4 Thus says the LORD: "For three transgressions of Judah and for four I will not revoke the punishment, because they have rejected the law of the LORD and have not kept his rules, and their lies have led them astray, after which their ancestors walked! 5 "I will send fire upon Judah and it will devour the fortified buildings of Jerusalem." 6 Thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of Israel, yea, for four, I will not reverse it: because they sell the righteous for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; 7 they trample on the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and deny justice to the oppressed; and a man and his father use the same girl, to profane My holy name; 8 "They lie down beside every altar on clothes taken from indebtedness. In the house of their God they drink the wine they have confiscated. 9 Yet I destroyed the Amorite before them, who was as tall as cedars and was as strong as the oaks. I destroyed his fruit above and his roots beneath. 10 And I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite. 11 And I raised up prophets from your sons and Nazarites from your young men. Is it not even so, O sons of Israel? says the LORD. 12 But you made the Nazirites drink wine and commanded the prophets, saying, 'You shall not prophesy.' 13 Look, I will crush you in your place, as a cart crushes that is full of grain. 14 So the swift runner will not escape, the valiant will not fortify his strength, and the mighty warrior will not save his life. 15 The archer shall not abide, and the swift of foot shall not escape. The horseman shall not save his life, 16 Even the bravest of elite troops will run away naked at that time," declares the LORD.
