1 Samuel 16:14-23

VIN(i) 14 Now the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul and an evil spirit from the LORD tormented him. 15 Saul's servants said to him, "Look, an evil spirit from God is troubling you. 16 Let our lord now command your servants who are before you to seek out a man who is a skilful player on the harp. When the evil spirit from God comes on you, he can play and you will feel better. 17 Saul said to his servants, Find me someone who can play well and bring him to me. 18 Then one of the young men said, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite who is skilful in playing, a mighty man of valour, a man of war, who speaks well and is good-looking, and the LORD is with him. 19 So Saul sent messengers to Jesse and said, "Send me your son David, who is with the sheep." 20 Jesse took a donkey loaded with bread, a bottle of wine and a young goat and sent them by David his son to Saul. 21 So David came to Saul and entered his service. He loved him greatly and he became Saul's armor bearer. 22 Saul sent to Jesse saying, Please let David stay with me, for I am pleased with him. 23 Whenever an evil spirit from God came to Saul, David would take the lyre and play it. Relief would come to Saul and he would be better, because the evil spirit would leave him.
