1 Kings 15:8-24

VIN(i) 8 And Abijam rested with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David. And Asa his son reigned in his stead. 9 In the twentieth year of Jeroboam the king of Israel, Asa became the king of Judah. 10 And he reigned in Jerusalem forty-one years. And his grandmother's name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom. 11 Asa did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, as David his father did. 12 He put away the male shrine prostitutes from the land, and he removed all of the idols that his ancestors made. 13 He removed his mother Maacah from her position as Queen Mother because she had made a detestable image dedicated to Asherah. Asa cut down his mother's idol, crushed it, and burned it at the Kidron Brook. 14 But he did not remove the high places. Nevertheless Asa's heart was perfect before the Lord all his days. 15 He brought into the Temple of the LORD all the things he and his father made holy, silver and gold and vessels. 16 There was war between Asa and Baasha, king of Israel, through out their reigns. 17 And Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, to keep anyone from going out and coming in to Asa the king of Judah. 18 Then Asa took all the silver and gold that was left in the treasure of the house of the LORD, and all the treasure of the king's house and delivered it unto his servants, and sent them to Benhadad the son of Tabrimmon the son of Hezion king of Syria that dwelt at Damascus, saying, 19 "There is a treaty between me and you, between my father and your father. Look, I have sent to you a present of silver and gold. Go, break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me." 20 Ben-Hadad listened to King Asa, and he sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel and he attacked Ijon, Dan, Abel-Beth-Maacah, and all of Kinnereth, in addition to all the land of Naphtali. 21 When Baasha heard this he stopped fortifying Ramah and withdrew to Tirzah. 22 And king Asa proclaimed to all Judah (no one was exempt) and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and its timber with which Baasha had built. And king Asa built with it Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah. 23 Now the rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? But in the time of his old age he was diseased in 24 And he slept with his fathers, and was buried with them in the city of David, his father. And Josaphat, his son, reigned in his place.
