Psalms 86

Thomson(i) 1 A Prayer. By David. Incline, Lord, thine ear, and hear me: for I am distressed and needy. 2 Preserve my life, for I am holy: save thy servant, God, who trusteth in thee. 3 Be merciful to me, Lord, for to thee I will cry all day long. 4 Comfort the soul of thy servant; for to thee, Lord, I have lifted up my soul: 5 for thou, Lord, art kind and gentle, and plenteous in mercy to all who invoke thee. 6 Listen, Lord, to my prayer, and attend to the voice of my supplication. 7 In the day of my affliction, I cried to thee, because thou didst hear me. 8 There is none among gods like thee, Lord: nor are any works to be compared to thine. 9 Let all the nations which thou hast made, come and worship before thee, Lord, and praise thy name; 10 for thou art great and doest wonders; thou art the Only, the Great God. 11 Conduct me, Lord, in thy way; and I will walk in thy truth. Let my heart be gladdened, that thy name may be feared. 12 I will praise thee, Lord my God, with my whole heart, and glorify thy name forever. 13 For thy mercy to me hath been great; thou hast delivered my soul from the deepest mansion of the dead. 14 God, transgressors rose up against me, and an assembly of violent men sought my life; they indeed did not set thee before them. 15 But thou, Lord God, who art merciful and gracious, long suffering and abundant in goodness and truth, 16 look down upon me and pity me; give thy strength to thy servant and save the son of thy handmaid. 17 Vouchsafe to me a token for good, and let them who hate me, see it and be ashamed, because thou, Lord, hast helped me and given me comfort.
