3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
4 Who comforts us in all our troubles, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
5 For as we abundantly share in the sufferings of Christ, so through Christ we also abundantly share in comfort.
6 But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which works in you when you patiently endure the same sufferings which we suffer.
7 And our hope for you is steadfast, knowing, that as you are partakers of our sufferings, so you also partake of our comfort.
