Romans 4:1-6

NSB(i) 1 What shall we say about Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh? 2 If Abraham was declared righteous by works, he could boast, but not to God. 3 For what does the scriptures say? »Abraham believed Jehovah, and it was counted to him as righteousness.« (Genesis 15:6) 4 The pay is counted to the man who works. It is not as grace but as a debt. 5 He who does not work but believes in him who justifies (absolves) the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. 6 David also pronounces blessing on the man, to whom God counts righteousness apart from works,
