Mark 9:14-29

MLV(i) 14 And when he came back to the disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and scribes debating together with them. 15 And immediately all the crowd, having seen him, were utterly amazed, and running up to him, they were greeting him. 16 And he asked the scribes, What are you debating together with them?
17 And one out of the crowd answered and said, Teacher, I brought my son to you, who has a mute spirit; 18 and wherever it overtakes him, it rips at him and he foams and grinds his teeth and he is dried up, and I spoke to your disciples in order that they might cast it out, and yet they were not strong-enough.
19 But he answered and says, O unbelieving generation, until when shall I be with you? Until when shall I tolerate you? Bring him to me. 20 And they brought him to him, and when he saw him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell upon the earth. He was wallowing–foaming. 21 Now he asked his father, How much time has things like this happened to him?
And he said, From childhood. 22 And often it has cast him both into fire and into waters, in order that it might destroy him, but if you are able to do anything, help us and have compassion upon us.
23 Now Jesus said to him, If you are able to believe. All things are possible to the one who believes.
24 And immediately the father of the child cried out with tears and said, I believe; Lord, help me with my unbelief.
25 Now when Jesus saw that a crowd was running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to him, I command you, the mute and deaf spirit, come out of him and enter into him no longer.
26 And having cried out and convulsed him much, it came out, and the boy became like one dead; so-that many said, He is dead.
27 But having taken-hold of him by the hand, Jesus lifted him up, and he stood up. 28 And having entered into the house, his disciples asked him privately, How is it that we were not able to cast it out?
29 And he said to them, This variety is not able to come out by anything, except in prayer and fasting.
